Transcript
00:00We are 15 days until the election for national, state, and local races.
00:06In the battleground states, the polls show, with a margin of error, that former President Trump is leading in Arizona, 49% to 46%.
00:18He's also leading in North Carolina, 50% to 47%.
00:24Vice President Harris is leading in Georgia, at 51% to 47% in Michigan, at 49% to 47% in Pennsylvania, 49% to 47% in Wisconsin, 50% to 47%.
00:43Both former President Trump and Vice President Harris are tied at 48% each in the state of Nevada.
00:52Now, we know that 13 million people have already cast their votes through various methods of early voting.
00:59As we discussed in a prior town hall, almost every state allows some form of early voting.
01:07There are only three that do not.
01:09We encourage you to check the website again at vote.org and confirm the process for voting early in your state.
01:17Voting early, checking your voter registration, and being diligent around this election specifically is so critically important, given how close this race is.
01:28You just heard the numbers.
01:30We know that some people and some institutions are trying to discount and reduce the power of your vote, which is why today's town hall is about election protection.
01:40Election protection is about ensuring our constitutional right to vote is protected, is about making sure that you know all about the resources that exist to help you.
01:52And it's also about making sure that regardless of where you live in this country, regardless of who you support, on a national, state, or local level, your vote counts.
02:01And we want to make sure that it is counted in this election.
02:06And, Ebony, as we were talking about earlier, I saw an Associated Press article that highlighted so many challenges this year alone.
02:20They are counting more than 63,000 voters were challenged in the state of Georgia alone.
02:28That highlights how important this issue is.
02:31You know, one thing I will say, since we've been doing these town halls, and as educated as we are, and talking about encouraging everybody, we did a town hall talking about what is your plan to vote.
02:44And I think the conversation was on, like, taking your chats and talking to your family about it.
02:51And I'm not playing Alfonso.
02:52After that, I literally got on a chat with some of the young people in our family.
02:58First question was, are all y'all registered to vote?
03:02Some of the people who were not, I was surprised.
03:04I was like, wait a minute.
03:05We talk all the time.
03:07Why are you not registered to vote on a college campus?
03:10Talking politics, but not activated.
03:13And so I said, no, we're doing this.
03:14And we were trying to have a family plan to all vote together on the 5th.
03:19I was like, scrap that.
03:20I need everybody to early vote.
03:21I need all y'all to early vote.
03:23I don't want any hiccups.
03:25Because honestly, Alfonso, there are going to be a lot of people, if you don't check your registration, they're kicking people off left and right, and some states way more than others.
03:36I don't want anyone who really cares about their legacy and their future to go to the polls on November 5th and find out you cannot vote.
03:46Exactly right.
03:48And it is so important that we have this conversation in our community to make sure that people are aware.
03:56We don't want you to be surprised.
03:58We don't want you to be surprised.
