00:00Vote HBCU. It's a program of Excel Leader. We kicked off this work back in 2020 to educate,
00:05mobilize, and empower HBCU students to be informed voters. We just got off our 10-stop tour. We went
00:11to Virginia State, Howard University, Tuskegee, Shaw, FAMU, Bethune-Cookman, and we were able to
00:19really see the power of HBCU students when they have the ability to lead and when they're able
00:24to make their voices heard and not in the space where someone's telling them to go vote for
00:28something or to vote for a specific person. This was an opportunity for students to not only lead
00:33this effort on their campus, but to come together and mobilize their student community to this work.
00:39And so Excel Leader, we are a community of HBCU alumni who build leaders, impact HBCUs, and change
00:44the world. And I'm just honored to have a cohort of 10 fellows. These are just two of the 10 fellows
00:50that we have that picked up the charge to mobilize their students. We were able to register 859 students
00:57on our tour across these 10 schools for 31 days. And Promise, Scotteria, Anija, they led this effort.
01:07We all came to Atlanta this summer. They learned the importance of what disinformation looks like
01:12versus misinformation. They learned how policy works as well as how to register their students to vote.
01:18And so that legacy and culture that they were able to build this work off of was able to live on campus
01:23and make it live. So that's a bit about us, but the students are the ones who really put this work on
01:30and made a shift in how HBCU students consider and see themselves in the voting group.
