00:00At some point, Rick's got to stop talking about him being out of shape coming into camp and everything.
00:05When does tough love start to be detrimental, in your opinion?
00:09If I were Rick Tockett's boss, that's probably the first thing I would say is
00:12don't come across as so annoyed with Matt Vaymichkoff, right?
00:17Like, he's such an important part of the future.
00:20You know, the way I think that the tone of his voice, I think, was something that could be toned down a little bit.
00:26So, you know, as far as hurting their asset, I mean, he's not going anywhere.
00:32And Breer said that again yesterday.
00:33He's got one year left in his entry-level deal.
00:37You know, if I'm Matt Vaymichkoff and I want to get paid coming out of my entry-level deal,
00:41well, I'm going to have a good summer and I'm going to come back and have a big third year.
00:46So I get a big payday coming out of that.
00:48So, you know, let's just get down to brass tacks.
00:51That's something I think that would drive every player, including him.
00:55So, but even coming out of that entry-level deal, he's going to be under team control for seven seasons.
01:00I mean, I don't think there's any fear or anything that he's going to run back to the KHL or anything like that.
01:07The Flyers aren't going to trade him.
01:08I mean, that's one of the main reasons they didn't get too deeply into the Quinn Hughes discussions
01:12is that they were never willing to part with someone like him
01:15because they still view him as a cornerstone for the future.
01:17And if you look at it, there's a number of very high-end NHL players that had tough second seasons.
01:25Nathan McKinnon is one of them.
01:27He's now maybe the best player in the league.
01:28So, you know, they're still looking at this in a long-term perspective.
01:32But, you know, to get back to your original question, yeah,
01:34I think Takit could come across a little softer whenever he talks about Mishkoff.
01:38And frankly, he did a little bit last night after the game when he was asked about Mishkoff
01:42and he pointed out that he did make a very good play on the Flyers' first goal.
