00:21What's up y'all? It's Brian Javar. The rules are simple as you get ready with me and Essence
00:25for Halloween 2022. Let's go.
00:30So we're about to get into the first look. I'm doing Silk Sonic, one of my favorite groups.
00:34I've had them on Halloween Rolodex for like the past six to nine months and I was like,
00:40you know what? Let me make it complicated on myself and a photographer and I'm going to
00:42be both members. So with the love and work of Photoshop, you know, I'm going to be both
00:47Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars. I like to be very exact and I pay attention to every single
00:51detail. So that's very important to me and you always need a great tailor for costumes
00:56so that you are recreating things in the right way and not doing a disservice to the costumer
01:01who created the look. So make sure you pay attention to everybody.
01:04I'm doing a lot of costumes this year. One of my favorites that I'm doing is with actress
01:15and singer Coco Jones. We are turning her into the Clovers. We wanted her. She looks like Gabrielle
01:21Union. She would be an amazing addition if they were to do a third movie. So we did Coco
01:27Jones as, you know, the Compton Clovers. One of my other favorite ones, I'm doing Niecy Nash
01:32and her wife Jessica Betts as A$AP and Rihanna from the Met Gala 2021. And that was a lot of
01:39fun. We paid attention to the detail and made sure that it was exact to what they had on.
01:45Another one of my favorites that I'm doing is my boy actor Jacob Lattimore. We're doing
01:49him as Nino Brown from New Jack City and the infamous cobalt blue look, just perfect. A
01:56great essential for just the black man growing up in the 90s when it comes to fashion and style.
02:01Another one that I'm doing is a costume that I love and I created is I'm doing Megan and I
02:06wanted to do something so literal where her brand is real high girl. So we created her as this fire
02:12lava moment where it lights up and it's just perfect. And it's, you know, just so on brand. It's a lot
02:17of fun. I think my top favorite looks that I've ever done on myself for Halloween is definitely
02:21from the comedian God, Martin Lawrence. I've done Shanaynay maybe three or four times. But last
02:27year I did Shanaynay when Myra was getting her feet done and also Shanaynay in the Women's Club
02:34episode. Those are my two favorite episodes. So I had to pay attention to the detail. I did the hair
02:40myself. I did the makeup myself. It was an amazing experience. I did the video. That's something I
02:45would never forget because I appreciate Martin Lawrence and his creativity and just like the
02:49way that his mind works. And you look at Shanaynay as Shanaynay and not as a character that Martin
02:54Lawrence is playing. So being able to be able to do that costume and do it justice and give
02:58it the love that it deserved was something that I loved. One of my other favorite Halloween looks
03:03that I've done on myself was Bust Rhymes and Janet Jackson. I've loved that video styled by June
03:13Ambrose. And that is just an iconic moment. So I did myself as Bust Rhymes and my best friend
03:19Fulani as Janet Jackson. Janet Jackson reposted it. And that was just the greatest thing that I could
03:25have even imagined. It's always good to make sure that you are paying attention to the details of a
03:30costume that you're recreating because that makes it more fun. You can do things and remix it, but
03:34who wants to remix something when it's already been done? So if you're going to do it, you got to
03:38chew it, you got to eat it.
