00:00You know, me and plenty of other fans, I think, were shocked to see you so hardcore.
00:04And I'm curious, you know, was Naomi the role that made you sign on, that Stella McGee had in mind for you from the jump?
00:12I don't know if he had me in mind for Naomi.
00:16I just, I knew he wanted to work with me, and I sat with him.
00:19I met with him in our vibe.
00:21We just really connected.
00:23But when I read the script, I was like, this is a page turner.
00:27I loved it.
00:28I loved explicit lyrics.
00:29I loved Naomi.
00:31I loved the way she was written.
00:33And I could relate to her the best, you know, being a single mom, sometimes having to, you know, I didn't do it as much as Naomi.
00:40I'm a much better mom than Naomi was because she's a better mom now.
00:44But, you know, there are times I have to choose to go out and work and leave my daughter for a certain period of time and things like that.
00:51I could relate.
00:52And then just the other women, the group, you know, just I could relate to every character.
00:59And to be able to tell these amazing stories through music and getting a second chance to be everything that you feel that you were born to be.
01:07It's just a beautiful story to tell.
01:09And I'm just so glad that I'm a part of it.
01:12Yes.
01:13And thinking about that, you know, as you mentioned, kind of relating to the storyline, you know, Naomi's journey as a mom is so central to that.
01:20Have you watched the show with your own daughter?
01:22Like, does she kind of relate to things?
01:25Well, she loves the show.
01:28And I haven't been able, I watched it with her last night for the first time because, you know, we were filming while it's airing.
01:36So I'm filming in Atlanta.
01:37She's in L.A.
01:38But she loves the show.
01:41And she told me, she's told me a few times, Mom, you and JoJo, JoJo, who is my daughter on the show, play by Precious Way.
01:51Because, Mom, you and JoJo, you guys just have a magic.
01:55And it's just beautiful to see that you guys are coming together and through music.
02:00And there have been times where she says, you guys have made me cry.
02:04Like, so I'm glad because I didn't know she was going to feel a little, like, jealous that I have a daughter.
02:11Because, you know, I've had a son on television, but I've never had a daughter.
02:14So I didn't know how I was going to do it.
02:15But she loves it.
02:16She loves it.
02:17She's so proud.
02:18And it's inspirational to her as well.
