00:00About being a woman in this space, you know, we know, you know, the opportunities are there and NBA and all of the space for women, but it's still, you know, interesting to be a woman coaching a group of men.
00:12You know, what was it like coming into that space and how were you received by your team?
00:16You know, it's so interesting because I only get reminded that we're different when one when it's obviously time for my guys to change clothes in the locker room.
00:25And I'm like, oh, I'll be back. Let me step out. You know what I mean? Or if I have to use the restroom and they are like already in there and I'm like, we only got one bathroom.
00:33I'm like, fellas, I'm coming in. You know, I got to go. So it's like those moments where, you know, I'm reminded like, oh, I'm a woman and this is their space.
00:42Yeah. And then the second time is only in media. Like people ask me the question about being a woman.
00:48And I'm like, oh, what about it? Yeah, because it's it really is basketball.
00:53And it's just we all play this sport at such a high level.
00:57And after a while, it's like screens and picks and rolls and certain strategies that we all know.
01:02And then it's hard effort and fight. And I don't got nothing to do with being a woman or a man.
01:05You know, I mean, you either come in or you mentally strong about it or you're not.
01:09Some people are, you know, you can tell certain people's weaknesses, whether it's men or women.
01:13And sometimes it's so interesting. I see the men almost like I see my son and not necessarily from an age standpoint, but they're like, you know, men act like little boys sometimes.
01:23Like when they like we call it grab assing, you know, when they just playing around, they joking, they teasing each other, they're clowning.
01:29That's the space that we all miss the most that don't play anymore is just the locker room camaraderie.
01:36Yeah. And that's the space you love.
01:38And I think that's what they're getting also from being in the big three when we on the bus.
01:42You know, them talking about people's waves and who here are the funny and all the stuff that they talk about.
01:47I kind of sometimes just tune out and let them have their moment without feeling like, oh, there's a woman present and you need to be super respectful.
01:55Like, I'm not really on that.
01:57Probably because I played with NBA men all the time.
02:01Magic Johnson allowed me to practice with those guys.
02:03And I never wanted them to feel like they have to be like, oh, sorry, you know, excuse me, Liz.
02:10You know, yeah, I don't do that because I'm in their space and it's cool.
02:13Let them talk about what they want to talk about, how they want to say it.
02:17Yeah. And the biggest thing for me being in men's space is my appearance.
02:22I do want them to know that I'm a woman.
02:24I'm not trying to look like them.
02:26Yeah.
02:26I'm not trying to be one of them.
02:28And even when I played with men, you know, my little outfits was hooked up.
02:32Yeah.
02:32You know, my shoestrings was matching.
02:34I got ribbon in my hair.
02:35Yeah.
02:35Because I never wanted someone to walk in the gym and go like, oh, there's 10 men out there.
02:38Like, oh, wait.
02:39You know, like one of them now, who's their girl?
02:41You know?
02:42Yeah.
02:42So I like that.
02:43I'm okay with that.
02:44That's me being my authentic self.
02:46Yeah.
02:46And I think, you know, I like fashion.
02:48Yeah.
