00:00I remember my very first cover was with Will Smith for the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
00:04It was amazing. It was one of the highlights of my career.
00:08I remember the night before I stayed up all night and they put these twists in my hair, which I loved.
00:13And Essence has been a huge supporter ever since.
00:16I've watched my life through the pages of Essence magazine.
00:20So it's truly, it's an honor. It's a blessing.
00:23It's very much appreciated.
00:25And when you're doing these things, when you're like in the middle of these photo shoots where there's like 25 people there just for you, it almost feels surreal.
00:35It almost feels like, why me? I'm just doing what I do. I'm just doing my job, you know?
00:41But I know that Essence magazine is the premier magazine for black women.
00:48We go to Essence to read about ourselves, to hear our stories.
00:52And so for them to think that I'm worthy of a cover over and over and over again, that means something.
01:01That means something. It means a lot.
01:03It means that in some sort of way I am representing us in a way that is positive, in a way that is admired, in a way that is celebrated, in a way that is...
01:14I have to go back to this. We're beautifully complicated.
01:19That's who we are.
01:22That's who we are.
01:23That's who we are.
01:24That's who we are.
01:24That's who we are.
01:25That's who we are.
01:26That's who we are.
01:27That's who we are.
01:28That's who we are.
01:29That's who we are.
01:30That's who we are.
01:31That's who we are.
01:32That's who we are.
01:33That's who we are.
01:34That's who we are.
01:35That's who we are.
01:36That's who we are.
01:37That's who we are.
01:38That's who we are.
01:39That's who we are.
01:40That's who we are.
01:41That's who we are.
01:42That's who we are.
01:43That's who we are.
01:44That's who we are.
01:45That's who we are.
01:46That's who we are.
01:47That's who we are.
