00:50we're celebrating the theme of essence black women Hollywood is badass so Amandla
00:56you're a badass in our eyes and my eyes but when did you recognize that you're a
01:01badass oh man I still feel like I'm recognizing that I'm a badass really I
01:06think it's a continual process but I think maybe when I was oh my mom has
01:11always kind of instilled that in me you know to to not have any fear of speaking
01:15not have any fear of being myself not pay attention to criticism or praise because
01:20none of it really means anything I love that I love that too so I want to talk to
01:26us about what projects you're working on this year we spoke earlier and you said
01:29this year is gonna be a very exciting year for you right so talk to me what's
01:32going on yeah sure I have three projects coming up this year one is called the
01:36darkest minds and it's a young adult dystopian trilogy I mean we'll see if it
01:42continues to be a trilogy once the first movie comes up but it's based on a book
01:46series and then I have this movie coming out called the hate you give which is
01:50based on a book by Angie Thomas and it's about a girl named star who witnesses her
01:55friend who's black get killed by police and then it follows the trial as she
01:59becomes a witness in the national media Amanda I'm gonna let you go because the
02:04room is buzzing I know you want to get down have fun enjoy you look beautiful
