A teenager has been sentenced to 100 hours of community service by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court on Wednesday (Feb 4) for injuring former Dang Wangi OCPD Senior Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman during an evacuation operation in Kampung Sungai Baru four months ago.

00:27On January 2, the teenager pleaded guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to intimidate Sulizmi Effendi
00:34while the officer was carrying out his duties at Jalandatuk Abdul Malik, Kampung Sungai Baru, on September 11, last year.
00:44Proceedings were held in camera, as the accused is a minor.
00:48Defense lawyer Mohamed Najib Ahmad told the press he had requested leniency and a warning for the accused.
00:54He cited a welfare department report stating the boy has the potential to change with proper supervision.

01:02The teenager is currently working part-time at a burger stall and has not been involved in illegal activities.
01:09Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor al-Fahana Arul Hisham had requested the court impose community service on the youth.
01:16Sulizmi Effendi had sustained a head injury after being struck by an object thrown by an unidentified individual.
01:23The incident took place during a tense operation to disconnect electricity to several houses in the area following a court order for demolition.
