00:21performing I bought my ticket they mailed it to me and I booked my ticket to to London because I
00:27really wanted to see him there that was my that was my initial reason you just went for it bucket
00:32list yeah for Grenada I was getting my yoga teacher certification it was 10 very intense weeks it was
00:40all weekends okay I knew I wouldn't be able to do anything and I always wanted to go to Grenada
00:44and so it was just like it was literally two weeks out and I was like I'm going and I booked my flight
00:50that night and two weeks later I was on a plane my first international trip was to Belize and I was
00:55supposed to go with a friend of mine but she was living there for a while but she had to leave
01:00due to a weird kind of shady issue that was happening there and she was like I'm leaving but
01:05if you still want to come I'm like but you're not going to be there but I'm like you know what I'm
01:10going to go at the time I just been laid off from my job so I'm like I'm going for it and since then
01:15I've been traveling solo but no it did not start out with me intentionally like wanting to do it alone
01:19but now I love it and I just book flights left and right by myself and if someone comes and hey
01:24if not amazing love it Christina what goes into a solo trip itinerary and planning and prep versus
01:30a group or girlfriend's trip how do you prepare differently well I'm a Google queen and Google is
01:35alive and well so I research and that's how I actually choose my destination with two two things it's
01:41a good airline deal right there and then after researching it's like okay this is the place I want
01:47to go you know the first thing I look at it is it safe for a woman by herself like I just put that
01:53in Google traveling to just like a solo as a woman yeah and and a good thing too is like there's so
01:58many personal stories out there like I just go to blogs like it's great and read about it yeah
02:04travel but read somebody's you know personal account of their experience and that's kind of like how I
02:10determine um where I'm gonna go I mean I say just use the same common sense you use at home like
02:15don't go down a dark alley but you're at home if you're in Bed-Stuy or if you're away like
02:21just common sense stuff but what about activities are you guys still drinking you know I mean are you
02:25still going out to bars but I know my limit with everything like even if I'm out drinking with a
02:30friend I know if that's that friend who's gonna drink too much so maybe I have to be the one to kind
02:35monitor them so if I'm by myself it's like all right limited to two drinks and maybe one brown
02:40drink and that's kind of one one round drink keep your eye on your surroundings have to know I make
02:46sure that I'm not wearing a lot of fancy sparkly jewelry because I love dressing very sparkly we
02:51see yeah as you can say so I just kind of use common sense and even just being a New Yorker and
02:57seeing other tourists and seeing the things that they do that they shouldn't right I make sure that
03:01I don't do those things so pulling out a ton of cash like yeah don't do that why do you have wads
03:05of 20s and hundreds be smart yeah just be smart so stuff like that I always just try to be even
03:10smarter and just be aware of whatever surrounding are you checking in with friends and family like
03:14are you making friends like Cory yeah I definitely have to check in my family they don't really travel
03:19a lot and they're always like you're traveling by yourself don't get kidnapped like don't be like
03:22the movie Taken I'm like really who says Taken yeah they literally say that to me I'm like I'll try not to
03:27get sold into slavery thanks um but I make sure that I check in like every morning I have like
03:32my aunt my cousin my mom those are the three people they have my itinerary they have my flight
03:37info every morning I check in I'm like as long as I have Wi-Fi I'll send you an iMessage on Facebook
03:42so I check in with them especially like checking in in social media it's like leaving a breadcrumb
03:46yeah like breadcrumbs yeah so you're posting you know insta stories yeah or whatever that's

03:56have any tips just to wrap it up for anyone who's considering going forward taking that first solo
04:01trip don't let family and friends talk you out of it like my family they like really you want to go
04:07like you should just stay here I'm like nah I'm going my ticket's been bought hotel is booked
04:11everything so don't let other people talk you out of it sometimes they're just afraid to do it
04:14themselves and they don't want you to do it but put simply what we really want everyone to remember
04:18is go have fun just be prepared but go for it right
