Transcript
00:00We are here with Ashton, you look amazing.
00:07Thank you so much.
00:08And the turtleneck and the unbelievable.
00:11Thanks, y'all.
00:12Now, what made you decide to go with this outfit?
00:15What about this spoke to you and said, this is what I want to wear on the red carpet.
00:18You look really cool, even in your turtleneck, you're looking cool.
00:21Thank you so much.
00:22I've been plotting on this outfit for a while.
00:24I really like looks opposed to different designer, like, you know what I'm saying?
00:32Yeah, I understand.
00:33You want your own individual, unique flavor, style.
00:37This is my style, man, and it's super chill.
00:40It's not too much going on.
00:41I didn't want to be super suit and tie.
00:43I wanted to represent the youth, you know?
00:45So I feel like I'm doing that right tonight.
00:49I would say so.
00:50Speaking of representing the youth, you are just fantastic as Chiron and
00:54Moonlight.
00:54Thank you so much.
00:55Did you have any idea that this film would be so huge?
00:57In many ways, it was the little engine that could.
00:59Made for no money.
01:00Not a lot of big name stars.
01:01Now you're a household name.
01:02But before, no one really knew you.
01:04And now look at you.
01:05You're on sag red carpet.
01:06It's crazy.
01:06What has this been like for you?
01:08Honestly, this has been all surreal.
01:11I mean, honestly, this was a passion project for me and everybody involved.
01:14And we all gave our hearts to this project.
01:17We had expectations for it.
01:18But this, even being here, being nominated for the Oscars, being at the
01:23Globes, it's all something that you don't fully wrap your head around or fully
01:28even can fathom.
01:30So I'm just like riding through my moments, man.
01:32Taking it one day at a time and seeing what's up.
01:35Yeah.
01:36Well, Moonlight is a terrific film and it tells a story that most people
01:40probably should go out and see if they haven't seen it.
01:42What's the one message that you want to get out there about this movie to
01:46people who may not have gotten a chance to see it in theaters yet?
01:49How would you describe it?
01:52I think it's a film that will change people's hearts.
01:55It will make people empathize and think about the fellow man and think about other people's
02:01situations and want to lend a helping hand, you know, which is the beauty of the film.
02:06It's a beautiful tragedy.
02:08So that's what I want people to leave.
02:11But I want people to leave with an empathetic heart and to be full of love and light.
02:15Well, you give an incredible performance.
02:17And really, there's no performance in this movie that doesn't give depth to very complicated
02:22characters.
02:23Thank you so much, Matt.
02:23And that, I think, is the highest compliment you can pay a movie.
02:25Thanks, man.
02:26Thank you so much.
02:26Congratulations.
02:27You have a very bright future.
02:28Thank you for being here.
02:29I hope so.
02:29Now go have some fun.
02:30I will.
02:30All right.
02:30All right.
