In this ESSENCE Now segment, we discuss the ongoing investigation around Kenneka Jenkins' death and activists' calls for the FBI to get involved.
Transcript
00:00Despite calls from the friends and family of Kanika Jenkins, the FBI says it will not
00:10investigate the team's death. Instead, it will allow local police to continue to handle
00:15the case as an accidental death, not a homicide. Kanika's body was found in a freezer at a
00:20Chicago area hotel earlier this month, but her family and friends believe that surveillance
00:24video released by the hotel is incomplete or has been altered. The family's lawyer
00:29recently released this statement. Despite requests for all evidence, we have only been provided
00:35snippets of video, none of which shows Kanika Jenkins walking into a freezer.
