This year might have been filled with some hurdles, but Black women continued to resist, slay, inspire and change the world. Take a look at the best moments of 2017.

00:00It is the end of 2017, and this is our year in receipts.

00:12Her Thanksgiving episode about her character's coming out experience nabbed her an Emmy,
00:16making her the first black woman nominated for a comedy writing Emmy.
00:20After nearly 20 years, Escape got back together.
00:24Viola Davis won an Oscar, putting her one win away from an EGOT.
00:28Yara Shahidi killed it this year.
00:31In addition to her Harvard acceptance, she also has a blackish spinoff show coming up called Grown-ish,
00:36which we're stoked for.
00:37Speaking of which, Tracee Alice Ross became the first black woman to win a Golden Globe
00:41for Best Actress in a Comedy since Debbie Allen in 1983 and 44 years after Mom Diana.
00:48SZA had a breakout year.
00:50The singer got the most Grammy nominations for a female artist in 2017, plus her tour is killing it.
00:56King B had us shook this year.
00:59Who knew she would get pregnant, have twins, and snatch our wigs with this insane post-baby body.
01:05We cannot wait for her to voice Nala in The Lion King.
01:08It's not even 2018 yet, and somehow Black Panther is the most tweeted about movie of 2017.
01:14Starring every black actor in Hollywood, the Marvel action film will be everything.
01:19And Tiffany Haddish, the breakout star of Girls Trip, well, she made history as the first black female stand-up comedian
01:25to host SNL with a glorious ponytail and a bangin' dress.

01:36Tarana Burke's Me Too campaign, which was created a decade ago,
01:40resurfaced in the wake of sexual assault allegations in Hollywood.
01:43But the existence of the campaign proved that black women have been discussing sexual assault for a long time.
01:49Michelle Obama's inauguration side-eye deserves a round of applause.
01:53I mean, leave it to the former first lady to provide the meme of 2017.
01:58Sloane Stephens slayed the U.S. Open final,
02:01and is proving that black girls in tennis doesn't stop with Venus and Serena.
02:06The women's march proved that resistance goes beyond the protest.
02:10Staying active in some of the biggest social movements of the year,
02:12galvanizing women of all races,
02:15and even holding their first-ever conference in Detroit,
02:17dubbed Reclaiming Our Time,
02:19women proved that they were key in fighting policies
02:21that are not in the best interest of our families and the nation.
02:25But we can't talk about 2017 without talking about the March for Black Women,
02:30organized by the Black Women's Blueprint
02:31as a way to address intersectionality that solely centered black women and their issues.
02:37Let's see, what else?
02:38Black women from Stacey Abrams to Maya Rockymore
02:41are running for major offices.
02:44Auntie Maxine taught us how to reclaim our time,
02:46Malia Obama went to Harvard,
02:48and Ibtihaj Mohamed got a hijab Barbie.
02:54Our forever president and first lady Barack and Michelle Obama
02:57celebrated 25 years of marriage,
02:59proving once again why their love will always and forever be everything.
03:04Each Tuesday night, Randall and Beth show us once again
03:07why their black love goals on Mrs. S.
03:10Janet Jackson proved why she's Janet Jackson
03:13and had a snapback to remember after welcoming a baby boy at age 50.
03:18And then Serena Williams kind of had the best year ever.
03:21First, she won her 23rd Grand Slam while pregnant.
03:24Then she gave birth to her beautiful baby girl, Alexis Olympia.
03:28And then she capped it all off by walking down the aisle in a fairytale wedding.
03:31Oh, and Cardi B, who set records on the Billboard charts,
03:36she also got engaged to her boot offset with an 8-carat ring.
03:39Now that's what we call a glow-up.
03:42This year should really just be called the year of Fenty Beauty.
03:49Rihanna shooketh the industry to its core and sent many brands running for cover.
03:54Some of the very same brands that haven't really paid attention to black women in the past.
03:58Fenty was named not only one of Time's best innovations of 2017,
04:03but it also won WWD's launch of the year.
04:06And let's talk about those contracts, ladies.
04:08Issa Rae and Ayesha Curry both became covergirls.
04:13Yes.
04:14Aja Naomi King snagged a L'Oreal deal.
04:17And YouTube sensation Shayla Michelle, aka MakeupShayla,
04:21had a collaboration with Maybelline.
04:23Yes, ladies.
