00:00Fire up the beast.
00:04Hello, it's me, Guz Khan, comedian off the TV.
00:10What you may not know is that I am an absolutely obsessed petrohead.
00:18But here's the thing, when it comes to cars, I have always been a purist.
00:23I think cars should remain as original, fresh from the showroom floor.
00:27Why mess with perfection?
00:27But lately, I've been looking at things I shouldn't have been.
00:32Modified cars.
00:34Them big wings.
00:36Wide arches.
00:38Turbo swaps.
00:39I know it's wrong, but it feels so right.
00:42So I've made a decision.
00:43My next whip is going to be a fully modified masterpiece.
00:47All my own vision, all my own money.
00:50£2,600 for the two.
00:54Well, I'm a novice in this game.
00:56I have zero technical skill.
00:58But fear not.
00:59That's why I'm bringing along my big brain best friend to help us out.
01:03Lumball.
01:06Oh, spit serious.
01:08I like it.
01:09I'm meeting the kings and queens of car modification all across this great nation.
01:18Naughty car.
01:19Naughty car, bro.
01:21Oh.
01:22I'm trying to peek under their hoods.
01:24Pump it.
01:25Pump it, Ian.
01:25Pick up their skills.
01:27I think my shirt got burned.
01:28And learn their sacred secrets.
01:30Bro, dude, we talk about Elon Musk.
01:32We found a real genius in a random shed in Northampton.
01:36And when my masterpiece is finally finished, I'll reveal it to the most hardcore modification nerds on the planet.
01:43What could possibly go wrong?
01:53A lot, actually.
01:55Yeah, a lot.
01:55So, let me bring you up to speed real quick.
02:03Here we go.
02:04I bought this 2007 Honda without ever seeing it in person because that's how I roll.
02:11Honda S2000.
02:12Maybe your mom used to drive one.
02:14Not anymore.
02:14It belongs to me.
02:15And now I'm going to turn it into the sickest car I've ever owned by modifying the hell out of it.
02:22Shiny pipes.
02:24So far, me and the boys have given the exhaust a serious grunt upgrade.
02:29Oh!
02:30Oh, that's annoying.
02:31That sounds good.
02:32And possibly, because I never saw the S2000 in person, I didn't realise it was built for hobbits.
02:38I feel like I could swallow it.
02:39Not already.
02:40So, we put a new set of seats in so it can actually fit inside.
02:44But these are dope carbon fibre buckets, see?
02:47So, it's all good.
02:52Me and Lombo are headed down to the workshop.
02:54But something weird is going on on the streets at Dudley this morning.
02:58Every brother's out here looking like the Hannes Schwarzenegger.
03:01Flip your now, he's a big lad.
03:02Look at him, he's going gym.
03:03No, he's not that big.
03:04Oh, no, no, bro.
03:05He looks like he can bend a house with two hands.
03:08No, he's not that big.
03:08He is.
03:09No, but the thing is, sometimes people look stronger and they're not very strong.
03:12Rips trains the well, isn't it?
03:13Yeah.
03:13No, but he trains hard, though.
03:14Yeah, and he's strong, bro.
03:16Yeah.
03:16Oh, no, he is.
03:17What I like is he's got a lot of that calisthenics ability as well.
03:20He controls his own body.
03:22Anyway, let's talk to him.
03:23Let's talk to him about our Kurdish barber's body and how sexy he is once he's exercised and his muscles are glistening.
03:32This is not what we're here for, okay?
03:35Let me get back to what we're doing.
03:37Flipping heck, I must have beefcakes on the brain this morning because the next mod on the list is going to get rowdier than Roddy Piper on Roy.
03:46Do you get me?
03:47Boys.
03:47Yes.
03:48Good here.
03:49How are we?
03:49Master technician.
03:50How are you, sir?
03:50Good to see you, boys.
03:51Very good.
03:52Very good.
03:52That's right.
03:53It's time to bless this whip with a proper sound system.
03:56One that costs no less than £1,000 and is made up of seven brand new speakers, including a hefty sub.
04:04I requested it.
04:06I said I need sound.
04:07I need vibes.
04:07I need to be part of the bassline mafia and you're facilitating.
04:10We're going to hook you up.
04:11Looks like a lot of sound.
04:12I don't know what is even going on here.
04:14So, I mean, the stereo in that is pretty much pants.
04:17They're all pants, ain't they, from that era?
04:19Which is the only way?
04:19Go on.
04:20Because they want you to listen to the beautiful symphony of the engine.
04:24Yes.
04:25Probably not.
04:26They're probably just cheaper to give us a rubbish system.
04:28Probably.
04:29Probably cheaper.
04:29Plus, it's a lot louder now, so we'll need a bigger stereo.
04:32For sure.
04:33So, first thing we're going to do is change all the speakers out.
04:36We're going to add new speakers to the back, which the car doesn't have as standard.
04:39Okay.
04:39So, it's going to sound way better.
04:40We're going to put you at eight-inch sub in the back.
04:43So, it's not enough to give you a massive kick in the back, but it's really going to add some nice clarity and a bit of bass in there as well.
04:49Okay, you see?
04:50It's going to sound nice.
04:51And upgrade the stereo as well.
04:52We're upgrading that to DAB as well.
04:54The old dab.
04:55Let's get the dab on.
04:58Loads more better.
04:59Loads.
04:59I'm excited because I want this.
05:03The main thing for me is that a car that looks good is great.
05:07Yeah.
05:07A car that sounds good is great, but tunes are a fundamental part of rolling in your car.
05:13That's what you want with the hood down.
05:14Let's go, baby.
05:15Yeah?
05:15I'm going to sound bad.
05:16Yeah?
05:17Yeah.
05:17Bad isn't good.
05:18Bad isn't amazing.
05:19Bad.
05:19Bad isn't good.
05:22Now, when they made this car, Honda must have blown the budget on that very special inline-four VTEC engine.
05:29Because they had nothing left for any speakers in the back.
05:31So, first job for Darren and Lumboo is to make space for my brand new cones.
05:36I'm just going to make that little bit of room there.
05:39Screw two screws in there.
05:41Trouble is, when you're sticking speakers where they were never intended, there's not a lot to work with.
05:47There's literally no way to screw it to.
05:49Mm-hmm.
05:49I'll have to make two brackets for the bottom there, which we're going to get Dan today.
05:53Because Dan's the man.
05:54No, no, I think you should get Gus to do that.
05:55I think Gus the man.
05:56I prefer Darren being the man.
05:57No, I think he's a democracy.
05:59And we're all going to talk.
06:00Yeah, Gus the man.
06:01So Gus can do that.
06:03Right.
06:03That's it.
06:04I like this new relationship, by the way.
06:06I do.
06:06I feel comfortable.
06:06It's good for Gus.
06:07Do you feel comfortable with me?
06:08Absolutely not.
06:13But how many decibels can one brother take?
06:16There's only one person who can answer that question.
06:19And they call him the Iceman.
06:25Ian, man.
06:27First of all, thank you.
06:30Okay, so he's also known as Ian.
06:31But his mom calls him Iceman.
06:34Why?
06:35Because ICE stands for in-car entertainment.
06:38And Ian is the absolute Don Dada of extreme audio-visual modification.
06:45I have to ask you straight off the bat.
06:47What in the spaceship is going on inside?
06:48It's got one or two speakers in it.
06:50One or two?
06:51Yeah.
06:52Times 400.
06:53There's 16 I can see from here.
06:55Genuinely, how many speakers am I seeing just on that door car there?
06:59Well, there's about 10 in each panel.
07:02Oh, my God.
07:03You've got them in a foot while as well.
07:04I have.
07:05Why you got hearing problems or something?
07:07What is...
07:07Not yet.
07:08Not yet.
07:08What's going on?
07:10Every space in the car has been modified to house a speaker.
07:13I can see the shape of this.
07:15Is this all custom fabricated as well?
07:16Yeah.
07:16To the speakers.
07:16I've built and designed and fabricated the whole vehicle.
07:19In the drivers and passengers seat, you've got amplifiers embedded in the seats.
07:23Where the bottom of the rear seat is, you've got amplifiers embedded in there.
07:27Yo, Ian is smuggling amps in this Beamer like they're illegal contraband.
07:32But it has given me a brainwave for my S2000's new system.
07:36And I don't want valuable boot space being taken up with a big old amp.
07:40Darren can stash it somewhere clever.
07:42If I ask him nicely, of course.
07:44I once dropped a PlayStation 1 when I was a kid.
07:46And when it fell apart, it looked like that inside.
07:48What is that?
07:49That's a Class A amplifier.
07:51Bro, explain to me.
07:52I'm an absolute noobie.
07:53What is a Class A amplifier?
07:54The amp itself is built with high-end components that gives you a real high-quality sound.
07:59Basically, it reproduces music better than any normal amplifier.
08:03Man, you've got to take me for a ride.
08:04Absolutely.
08:04Let's go.
08:05Come on.
08:06Enough of this guided tour.
08:08I need to feel the wind in my beard as this ether speeds down country lanes.
08:13I need a solid wall of sound to pummel me into acoustic submission.
08:19Put your foot down, Ian.
08:24Ian.
08:27Get in second gear, mate.
08:29Come on.
08:29So the MO with this car, bro, is low, and we've got to take it very slow.
08:37Yes.
08:38There's about 400 kilos more weight than the standard car.
08:43That's affecting how it feels when it dries, right?
08:45Absolutely.
08:46It affects road holding.
08:47Feels like a little bit of a whale, you know.
08:49You're carrying so much weight.
08:51Probably not the best setup for these country roads.
08:53This is all with a horse.
08:54There's a horse in the back.
08:55A horse in the back.
08:56Yeah.
08:57I bet the horse is lighter than all the speakers in this car, but let me tell you that.
09:01Yeah, it is.
09:01Even though we've got an abnormal amount of speakers to the left and the right, a roof down in the E30, bro, is still a special experience.
09:10Yeah, it's really special.
09:11It is a magical car.
09:13Ian's right.
09:14It is magical.
09:16But are we talking like Paul Daniels pulling hankies out of his sleeve or David Blades shooting bolts of lightning from the top of a skyscraper?
09:23Time to find out.
09:25Let's see what you got, baby.
09:27No worries.
09:27Bad man!
09:31I tell you what, you can't hide the road nose anymore.
09:44Sorry, brother.
09:46Exactly.
09:48Consider this my audition tape for the new Countryfile presenter.
09:54The cows are feeling it.
09:56Absolutely.
09:56He had the audio output that would have put noise complaints in for the next 50 years if we'd done that in a normal residential street.
10:07We needed to be in the middle of nowhere.
10:09And let me tell you, the sound output, the bass for a convertible car, was next level, you know.
10:15My ears are still hurting now.
10:18My ears aren't the only thing struggling to withstand the power of Ian's subwoofer.
10:21It seems like the car is too.
10:29Whoa, whoa, guys, I have to pull over one second.
10:32Something might have just detached, so bear with us.
10:40Yeah, um, I think the bottom of the car just fell off.
10:45It's what happens when you add 400 kilograms to have been able to hold us like you.
10:55You're the wrong eyes, man!
10:55Don't panic.
11:17You haven't accidentally switched over to all creatures, great and small.
11:20It's still your boy Goose, cruising these country roads with Ian the Iceman Pindar and his mobile sound system.
11:28Which is back up and running again, thankfully.
11:32You know what I think we should do, bro?
11:34We should head back to the country estate and, um, listen to some sounds, innit?
11:39I think we should, for sure.
11:40But before we get this party started, Ian needs to make a few adjustments by adding, yeah, you guessed it, more speakers.
11:48And these ones he carries around separately in a van.
11:55I walk in through the crowd of all eyes on me
12:00There, loud!
12:05I'm leaving the light!
12:10Did I personally enjoy that mobile rave?
12:18No, it's a bit weird.
12:19We were in deck chairs.
12:21How's that?
12:21How's that?
12:21How's that?
12:21How's that?
12:22How's that?
12:22How's that?
12:23How's that?
12:23How's that?
12:24How's that?
12:24How's that?
12:25How's that?
12:26How's that?
12:26How's that?
12:27How's that?
12:28How's that?
12:29How's that?
12:30You know what?
12:31If Ian wants early onset deafness, that's his choice.
12:34It's his life, ain't it?
12:36I'll tell you now.
12:37It's been days since I sat in that car.
12:38I still can't hear properly.
12:40I'm vibing.
12:53At the workshop in Dudley, we're still a way off having our own little rave up, but Darren
12:57and Lombu are on the case, fitting the S2000 with a load of brand new speaker cable.
13:02It's got this nylon fish tape, really used for putting cables through.
13:06We're going to feed that through, through that original rubber.
13:09Okay, through on this.
13:10You can see there.
13:11Yeah.
13:12Tape it on.
13:13There's a speaker cable there.
13:14Yeah.
13:15All the speaker cables straight through, and we can make that off and mount the speaker.
13:17Sounds easy.
13:18It's not going to be easy, but it's the only way to do it.
13:23Whilst Darren and Lombu fiddle around with miles of cable, fabricator Dan and I are going
13:28to get to work on some custom brackets for the new speaker, which means only one thing.
13:33It's power tool time.
13:35Ooh, watch that.
13:36It looks dangerous.
13:37It's an angle grinder.
13:40To you, how important is the term safety?
13:43Considering I've just been to the hospital three times in the past month with having metal
13:47in my eye from using said machine, there's your answer.
13:52But I did wear my safety glasses, so if I were you...
13:55Yeah, yeah, you carry on.
13:57Yeah, catch me behind the hoodie, baby.
13:59That's where you're going to find me.
14:00Right, we just need two L-shaped brackets just to raise the speaker so it doesn't rub.
14:07So it's 20 by 20.
14:09Now, this is a bespoke type of job, so you're probably not going to walk into your local
14:13hardware shop and find the exact size bracket.
14:16You might need to do it yourself.
14:19Or you can hire Ardan.
14:21Very reasonable rights, but he is in hospital around five months of the year.
14:25Right, let's get him drilled straight through the centres.
14:30I mean, we could do it the bad method and hold it and just drill, but from past experience,
14:36it snapped and bounced and it went into that one, it went into that.
14:40You never...
14:41It's only happened once.
14:43That's why we always clam.
14:44Big man, you're lucky we've got the NHS in this country, otherwise you'd be in big trouble.
14:47I've got him on speed.
14:48Yeah.
14:49Right, let's get a clamp.
14:50Let's get a clamp.
14:51I'll be right.
14:54Right, actually, what am I doing?
14:56There you go.
14:57You've seen...
14:58You're trusting me to do this?
14:59No, I'm not trusting you.
15:00But if I look the other way, we'll be all right.
15:02OK, so what did you do?
15:04You clamped it from here.
15:05Yep.
15:06Oh, you see our Dan there just tenderly moving my body warmer out of harm's way.
15:14Now we're cooking.
15:15He may have no regard for his own personal safety, but he's looking out for your boy.
15:19What a legend.
15:20What a legend you are, pal.
15:21We want to turn these two 90 degree L shapes.
15:25Are we going to a new machine?
15:26The folder.
15:27Yeah.
15:28Show me the folder.
15:29Does it fold metal?
15:30No, it doesn't do.
15:31Well, then the folder is a great name.
15:33So if you want to pull the lever down, slowly but surely.
15:36Here we go.
15:37Yeah.
15:38There we go.
15:39And then...
15:42Bend it up.
15:48There you go.
15:49Can I feel how strong that is?
15:51Well, Lenny's strong.
15:53Come on.
15:54Brackets beefier than my Kurdish barber's triceps.
15:57But before we fit the backspeakers, the first of my new 13cm mid-range cones are going in.
16:02And it's out with the OEM head unit, ready to be replaced by a box fresh unit with all the trimmings.
16:09We're talking Bluetooth, DAB radio, USB input and wireless remote.
16:15The display even has a fully adjustable colour scheme so I can match the lights of the unit with the S2000's dashboard.
16:22Come on.
16:23Technology.
16:24Technology.
16:25Technology.
16:26Do you know what DSP stands for?
16:28Digital sound profiling.
16:30Close.
16:31Profiling?
16:32Why would the sound be profiling?
16:35Discreet sound...
16:38Penis.
16:39That's even closer.
16:42You know what?
16:43I don't even care.
16:44I care about what it sounds like.
16:45I'm glad that I've got it, but you know.
16:48All right.
16:49I've looked it up.
16:50And I can confirm LUMBLE definitely doesn't have a clue what it stands for, but I do.
16:59DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor, which is a computer-based tool that analyses and optimizes audio signals before they reach your car speakers to improve the sound quality.
17:09I still prefer discreet sound penis, but that's just me.
17:14On to the final speakers to fit.
17:16The twin cones which we're concealing behind the original back panel.
17:21It's just the cables that we're pushing against.
17:23Yeah.
17:24It's not touching any of the body at all when it's in place, which is important because you don't want the magnet touching any of the body at all.
17:30I have made life hard for myself with this because we want it to sound great.
17:33Yeah, we are, you know, putting speakers where you shouldn't have them.
17:36Yeah.
17:37But this is what I love about customs, though.
17:39We're making it way better than the factory ever intended.
17:41Talking a way better than the factory, Darren.
17:44How's about them brackets that I very diligently bent into shape for you, pal?
17:48Yeah, so look at that speaker.
17:49You can see exactly what we've done.
17:51Those brackets that you made actually work really well.
17:53They're perfect.
17:54You heard them, man.
17:55My brackets are the best in the biz.
17:57And I'd like to thank my mother, my agent, my high school teacher, and fabricator Dan, who's currently in A&E.
18:05This is one of those mods that the car community won't be angry at us for because they can't see it.
18:08Well, exactly.
18:09Exactly.
18:10You've got your microphone up here as well, so you can make phone calls from the stereo as well.
18:13You've got a mic up there as well.
18:14That's up there.
18:15You've got your DAB aerial on that side.
18:17Wow.
18:18There's a lot of cables on this.
18:19There's a lot of cables.
18:20But I suppose, like you said, the stealthier it is, the trickier it is, isn't it?
18:24Well, that's it.
18:25You want to hide things away.
18:26You want things neat.
18:27It takes longer to do it, you know.
18:29Speaking of which, time to have a look at the subwoofer, which, inspired by Iceman Ian's hidden amps,
18:34Darren is going to stash away neatly in the recess where a spare tire would normally go.
18:40Because who needs a spare when you're skanking to some filthy drummer bass on a hard shoulder?
18:45Not me.
18:47It's all trimmed up.
18:48It's exactly the same carpet as your boot now.
18:49So you've mounted this felt yourself?
18:51That's not straight from the boot?
18:52No, no, no.
18:53Did you?
18:54Yeah.
18:55Not you're ever going to see it, because it's all covered.
18:56But when you do take the spare wheel cover off, it's going to look nice, isn't it?
19:00Let's get it mounted.
19:01Yeah.
19:02Because I really want to fill this system.
19:03I can't wait.
19:07First, when you come to it, you can just plug it in.
19:09Cool.
19:10Then you've got two sets of final leads.
19:12What are they?
19:13Very arse-cracky job.
19:14Want to see?
19:15No.
19:16Carry on.
19:17You're doing good.
19:18Oh, my days.
19:19Each of Lumbles' arms is two and a half metres long.
19:22So you think he'd be perfect for this job, but he's still making a meal of it.
19:26Should I tell you how I do it?
19:28When I can't see stuff?
19:29Mm-mm.
19:30Should I show you?
19:31Get a mirror?
19:32No.
19:33Yeah?
19:34Watch this.
19:35That's right.
19:36Lumble wants to show Darren that modern smartphones have torches on them.
19:43Next, he'll be showing off his watch with the built-in calculator.
19:47Well, you're currently taking selfies of yourself.
19:49No, I'm not taking a selfie.
19:51I'm not taking a selfie.
19:52He is now.
19:53Yeah, no, yeah.
19:54I think he'll collect a selfie.
19:57You having fun, lads?
19:58What are we doing over there?
19:59It's that simple.
20:00Done.
20:01Thanks.
20:02That's all connected.
20:04What?
20:05Lumble did a big fuss.
20:06Oh, let me show you something.
20:08It's a technique.
20:09Pass me your phone to help me put wires into an amp.
20:12What is this shit?
20:13What the?
20:14Taking selfies gets you through the day, does it?
20:15There's Darren there too.
20:16You want to know how I feel?
20:17There you go.
20:18That's how I feel about Lumble's technique.
20:21I'm Guz Khan, and I'm deadly serious about learning everything I can from the car
20:41modification community.
20:43So serious, in fact, that I've travelled to Milton Keynes, the roundabout capital of the UK.
20:50I'm meeting somebody who's part of a petrolhead subculture that I've always wanted to get involved with.
20:57Oh, yeah.
20:59Alina.
21:00Guz, how are you?
21:01How are you, mate?
21:02Good to see you.
21:03Good to see you.
21:04Listen, it's not up there with the prettiest cars I've ever seen, but there's a reason
21:07Alina's keeping her little Beamer rough and ready.
21:10She's a drifter.
21:13Man about all things motorsport, 22-year-old Alina is a sister who loves to go sideways.
21:19Taking up drifting just two years ago, Alina quickly got to grips with this technical driving technique.
21:26Which is all about the oversteer, losing traction in the tyres to skid sideways while still in control of the car.
21:33And after she's showing me around her BMW, I'm going to visit a drift track to check out the action up and close, baby.
21:42Sometimes I pull up to these driveways, I don't know what the car is, what year it is or what it does.
21:46But here, E46.
21:48The classic.
21:49Option drift across the windscreen.
21:51I know exactly what you're doing here.
21:53Because you're a drifter, you haven't gone for a stinky engine.
21:56You've gone for the three litre, right?
21:57We've got the big one.
21:58Yes, you have.
21:59And so, E46 is a base.
22:01Even one in this condition, they're not cheap anymore.
22:04You must have paid a good bit of money for this.
22:06Actually, I did get this for a steal.
22:08I got it for 1,500.
22:10Don't lie to me.
22:111,500 quid?
22:12It sounds a little bit like you stole the car, but if you did, I'm here with you.
22:15I'm here to enjoy you on the journey.
22:17It's a cheap car, an entry-level car that gets bashed around to have a little fun in,
22:21so I didn't want to spend loads of money and get something mint when you could have more fun in something that looks like this.
22:26Aside from keeping the look stock, or worse than stock actually,
22:30Alina's putting some work by buying used coilovers and suspension and a welded diff which keeps the wheels turning together during drifting.
22:39Everything she does is on a budget, though.
22:43Super cheap modification to any drift car.
22:46Yeah.
22:47Take everything out of it.
22:48We've got bare wires, we've got no door cards, we've got no roof lining.
22:52Seats?
22:53You haven't kept those luxurious leather ones from BMW.
22:55No, no.
22:56Why would I do that?
22:57When you can buy these super good, solid buckets, 200 quid.
23:01And if you look in the boots over there, you can see that's what a tyre will look like when you've had a few minutes of drifting.
23:06Yeah, come on, these and those.
23:08I've never seen the bare metal exposed in that way.
23:11But you know what that means?
23:12That means you're doing your job.
23:13You know, drifting the shit out of this car.
23:16For less than two grand, Alina got herself a German whip that's a dream to drift.
23:22And let me tell you, I want my own slice of that dream.
23:25I'm ready to drift.
23:26Where shall we drift?
23:27There's a roundabout over here.
23:28Oh no, that look.
23:29That's the look of a woman who's about to crap on my dream.
23:32We need to get a little bit of a sweat on this afternoon.
23:35We need to drill some holes.
23:36Yeah, maybe.
23:37Maybe.
23:38Maybe.
23:40Everyday work?
23:41I work all the time.
23:42Here is everything that we will need.
23:44Oh gosh.
23:45These are the side skirts that we're putting on.
23:47There's a jack.
23:48So let's get started.
23:52Start jacking it up.
23:53Do you know what's crazy?
23:55I've never actually heard rust before.
23:57It usually doesn't have a sound.
24:00It shouldn't normally.
24:02Rust shouldn't have.
24:03You shouldn't be hearing rust.
24:04Let me bring the tire over for you.
24:06Great thinking.
24:07I tell you what, I don't trust that jack on this rust bucket.
24:10And I'm not going anywhere near it without some extra insurance.
24:15There you go.
24:16Just in case, isn't it?
24:17So the reason I actually took these off in the first place
24:20was because when you're drifting, I smashed into things.
24:23Because I'm not a problem.
24:24That happens when you drift?
24:25Yeah.
24:26So they just came off.
24:27Same with the front bumper.
24:28You see, that's what I like about drifting, you know.
24:30People don't care about, you know, I broke this, I broke that.
24:33And help me understand.
24:34Is there, like, a complicated gluing system?
24:37Or a clip system?
24:39If you have a look inside, it's meant to have little clips
24:43that will slot into these clips here.
24:45Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can see.
24:46However, we don't have that today, so we will be just drilling it in.
24:48But that's the great thing about a cheap car.
24:50You can just drill holes in it.
24:51Straight through the sides.
24:52Absolutely. Straight through.
24:53Into the bare metal.
24:54Into the bare metal.
24:55That's it.
24:56Easy.
24:57Now it's your turn.
24:58Oh, God.
24:59There you go.
25:00So that's normal.
25:01Yeah?
25:02Keep going.
25:03Are you sure?
25:04Yeah, yeah.
25:05So now you're at the metal.
25:06There you go.
25:07Now you're in the...
25:08Perfect.
25:09Oh, shit.
25:10Is that OK?
25:11It's bent, but it's a drift car.
25:12The sideskirt is on the car.
25:13We can now take it to a track day.
25:14Probably the shittiest attempt at putting a sideskirt on a car I've ever seen.
25:29It's horrendous.
25:30It's quite bad.
25:31It is bad, isn't it?
25:32Look, they're not even in line.
25:34It's fine.
25:35It's on.
25:36Yeah?
25:37I'm happy.
25:38And if you think Alina's approach to sideskirts is somewhat casual, you're going to flip
25:43your wig when you see how she deals with this aftermarket bumper.
25:46So now we're just going to tie this up.
25:48Super safe.
25:49Super effective.
25:50You want me to put two in there just in case?
25:52Absolutely not.
25:53Sure?
25:54Yeah, it'll be coming off next week.
25:56Cable ties, screws, duct tape.
25:59This is a wild type of modification.
26:02It's on.
26:03It's on.
26:04But one that makes perfect sense.
26:07While Selina's learning to drift her E46 around the track, she doesn't want to worry about
26:12wrecking expensive bodywork that takes hours to remove.
26:15Hence, the aftermarket bumper, which may have come from a jumble sale, smart.
26:20Very smart.
26:22If I let go, I'm not sure it's going to stay in place.
26:25Let go.
26:26Okay, listen.
26:27Let's just leave it.
26:28Okay.
26:29Yeah, and like you said, it's going to come off anyway, because you're going to be drifting
26:30hard.
26:31Yes.
26:32You legend, you.
26:33Next time I catch up with Alina, we'll be at the track.
26:34And I can't wait to see her show off some sideways skills, you know.
26:36I just hope that bumper stays on.
26:37Look, I get it.
26:38Drift cars are all about getting bumped, knocked around.
26:39You might lose a spoiler here.
26:40You might lose a bumper there.
26:41You're not supposed to look concourse like many of the cars we've seen on this journey
26:42so far.
26:43You see that car there?
26:44Actually a very affordable drift car.
26:45When you think about it, everything in, we calculate.
26:46It just done her about three grand.
26:47She's very, very good.
26:48She's a drifter.
26:49She loves drifting.
26:50She's a very impressive young lady.
26:52And then, go with a circles, you know.
26:54I just hope that bumper stays on.
26:57Look, I get it.
26:58It's all about getting bumped, knocked around.
26:59You might lose a spoiler here.
27:00You might lose a bumper there.
27:01You're not supposed to look concourse like many of the cars we've seen on this journey
27:03so far.
27:04See that car there?
27:05Actually, a very affordable drift car, when you think about it, everything in, we calculate
27:07just in her about three grand.
27:08She's very, very good.
27:09She's a drifter.
27:10She loves drifting.
27:11at the workshop in Dudley the new stereo is fully installed and finally good to go
27:22let's bring the noise boys we are ready for the symphony let's get it baby come on
27:27we are this is the good bit so what what choose you got first all right let's play some of your
27:35favorites when he cranked it and I heard it there was part of me that thought shall we just lie
27:53this doesn't need a lot of setting up yet yeah this is literally the first turn on shall we go
28:01but I couldn't bring myself to do it because it sounded like a wet fart
28:05do you want a couple of minutes to set it up bro yeah yeah guys let's take a couple of minutes
28:12to just set this all up yeah disaster it wouldn't happen on your watch would it exactly I'll let
28:21you into a little secret yeah it's not just me who's investing in getting this stereo working
28:24I know because time is money and look there's a whole tv crew here some who are desperate to get
28:30this thing working so we can stay on schedule and some who just have eyebrow appointments to get to
28:36working Darren what do you reckon it is bro it's not getting a signal from the USB cables
28:45as we sat there in silence and I looked around at the entire cast and crew including his staff I felt
28:54bad for him man everyone was stood around I never heard him mutter before I heard Darren mutter for the
29:00first it was there with that finger you know now it is it's very tense at the moment
29:08Simo any suggestions mate should I turn it off turn it back on again great shot so it's gonna be a
29:16problem with the rim cable the rim cable uh-huh what was that it's the remote switch on cable
29:21ignition life basically I feel a lot like I'm having a conversation with somebody from a bomb disposal
29:27unit right now it makes sense yeah so what we gotta do now to make the right just come out
29:32this big stereo out yeah I'll fill about the cables at the back I have a mess with those and it should
29:37turn 12 volts onto the amp and then we should be good expert fiddle incoming normally I wouldn't
29:48doubt down for a moment but he seems stomped by this stereo speaker shambles and if I can't get this one
29:55work you know I ain't got nothing left in the budget for another upgrade so no pressure big man
29:59I'm Guz Khan and I'm hanging out in his workshop in Dudley with my best mate Lumbo and modification
30:17maestro Darren Coleman we're trying to turn this old Honda s2000 into a suit top bad man streetcar but
30:24so far the stereo install hasn't exactly gone to plan it's very tense at the moment Simo any suggestions
30:31mate turning it off turning back on again great shout but if there's anybody I trust to tackle these
30:36technical mishaps it's my boy Darren and I've been immersing myself fully into the modification
30:43lifestyle helping my new mate Alina get her bow scarred Beamer ready for another day at the
30:49drift track that's what a tire will look like when you've had a few minutes of drifting I have never
30:53seen the bare metal exposed in that with you know drifting the share this car and now the time has come
31:03welcome to the wild smoke blasting rubber wrecking bumper breaking world of drifting
31:19and this lot are unhinged I love it including Alina who's taking that rough and ready 46 for a
31:28warm-up lap at a track events like this don't just magically happen oh no there's always an OG behind
31:37them and I want to meet the main keys behind this paradise of petrol fumes that's my dear
31:45oh hello mate how are you brother good to meet you my guy okay yeah how are you what's your name
31:49brother V V good to see you man lads I have to be honest yeah some people dream of learning to ride
31:55horses some people dream of learning to play the piano in a real G's yeah they dream of drifting is it
32:01I'm guessing like anybody who does any kind of car modification it's a bit of a disease and it's a
32:06drug oh yeah it takes your life over mate yeah if you if you haven't taken over your life you're not
32:11doing it probably you're not a proper drifter nah it takes all your money all your money the money the
32:15time relationships in a bin but worth it because when I listen all I know is when I see you lot on
32:20YouTube it feels to me like drifting is the coolest most accessible form of basically racing cars yeah
32:26like my kids if I say to them what's the coolest drifting when I ask my mates it's always drifting and
32:32when it comes to this car in particular like the camera at the front is absolutely mental is that
32:37a requirement we in like this yeah so that's the help with clearance of steering and to give you
32:42more grip on front because when you drive the car it actually sits on the whole contact patch when
32:47you're sideways there's a cars are set up to go sideways and on the rear we say it so it is positive
32:52camber and then when you accelerate it slams on the floor grips up and gives you that inertia
32:57it's about getting grip at the rear not slip what a word bro inertia V is that what got you into this I
33:04just love adrenaline have some fun when you never donate you never will understand so you actually
33:09never have I seen a man who I'm more sure is into adrenaline than V that's all I'm going to tell you
33:14and in terms of what we need with the vehicles for people who don't know can you drift a front
33:20wheel drive car nah front wheel drives off you need a rear wheel drive car for this to work not
33:25four wheel drive rear wheel drive two wheel only does it have to be manual there is some guys that use
33:30uh an automatic but the essentially a manual is better because you've got control of the car
33:35through wheel speed through the gears there's a lot of scientific input that's going on here
33:40wizards well yeah you are absolutely yeah for sure you're drift wizards oh yeah something like that
33:45can we go and check out some drifting we can do yeah let's take me now be all the best mate yeah
33:51careful with that bonnet yeah my guy V's out here driving like he's got vendetta but how is he actually
34:09done is clutch kick faint entry is just done there say this again to me the technical use of the word
34:19there so clutch kick faint entry is you use the weight shift of the vehicle this is not pulled the
34:25handbrake in a straight line then create angle clutch kicks the car flicks unsettles the car use the
34:31weight and inertia to then settle the car up on countersteer and then feathers the throttle from there and here
34:36are now this is more difficult than a level biology bro this is very scientific it is pretty scientific
34:42yo i'm not gonna lie this looks a lot harder than on youtube my guy V has left the track to go and get
34:49another face tattoo so the coast is clear for alina to get busy although she must not rate my bodywork
34:57skills because the bumper that i expertly attach with cable ties is nowhere to be seen well i tell you
35:03what this girl can drift
35:06oh i spoke too soon man i hope them side skirts are still in place this is what happens yeah without
35:23consulting me first when you go rip my handiwork off what happens boom you end up in the side world
35:28i didn't lose traction well enough i just went in a straight line instead of sideways and then that
35:35happened you know i was looking to alina as a fellow drifting rookie to give me a little confidence
35:42boost before i got behind the wheel and now i feel like we're burying a pet hamster
35:46you all right pretty bad isn't it no i wouldn't say bad at all
35:53i'm not professional yet so still learning this is hard stuff this is talking to me about like
36:01inertia i don't even know what that means i've actually never heard that word before in my life
36:05exactly how are we supposed to know how to drift properly when we don't even know the technical
36:08terms there's a lot to it yeah no there is a lot um you know i learn something every time i go out on
36:13the track yeah you're safe that's the most important thing it was mad though everything
36:18fell off your car apart from reading the side skirts that i drilled in
36:23that's a really good point right yeah yeah yeah so is there any tips
36:28avoid walls yeah no hitting walls for sure
36:35hang on let me write that down um avoid walls cheers thanks for that lena thanks very much
36:40hoping matt can give me a little bit more than that though time for my drifting lesson in a nissan 350z no
36:48less you ready i'm feeling it look when i say i'm feeling it just take it easy though yeah i ain't taking it easy mate
36:55you're all right you're all right you're in
37:15there's your lona that's the diamond
37:17it's called counter steer so when you get the oversteer this counter the laws of physics
37:34yeah it's a science thing again right so we're gonna go into the first corner yeah get some grip
37:40heat into the tires then we're gonna let the car off it was at this point i realized i had made a
37:48terrible mistake and that terrible mistake was turning up today i should have sent lumbo
37:53but just as my sphincter began to unclench and i started having fun oh the car's failing
38:09it's all over what has that got to do with my weight oh what a time for it to go wrong
38:21it's very intense the entire team is gathered around the drift monster we're trying to ascertain
38:27exactly what's going on here but i feel like i don't really know look look at them look how many
38:34around the engine experts everybody get their fingers out wait fingers out of where who want me
38:40to get my finger out my finger they're here
38:47ah it's even worse ian's speaker laden e30 the new stereo in my s2000 alina's bmw
38:56and now matt's 350z drift car mate absolutely nothing's going to plan is it
39:03matt i'll see you in a bit pal yeah all right see you later mate all right all right lads best of
39:07luck with it you have fun getting out of that car there yeah yeah is this just a modification life
39:16or am i carrying some kind of ancient curse who cares man i'm very hungry right now
39:23the plan is to get into a very comfy uber that's road legal and return to the garage see you boys
39:30son
39:34in a workshop darren has been battling with cables and components attempting to break the guz khan
39:39curse and get something to actually function properly and it looks like we're ready for another
39:44sound check hopefully more successful than the last one hey lads hey guys i got it see i got it
39:57all right okay now that's that's a big improvement that was worth the wait bro
40:04and so what am i hearing here right now we've got i can obviously feel the speakers from behind yeah
40:08yeah yeah yeah what am i feeling in the back is that the hamper lumball so that's the 18-inch sub
40:12in the back lumball come and feel this it's different in the car but this is the real test
40:17how will lumbo the human fun sponge respond to the upgraded sonics in the s2000
40:24yeah it's just nice isn't it you know it's well balanced as well the dsp as well well then we've got
40:30the small speakers at the back yeah these two here yeah yeah you can still hear them yeah it still comes
40:35through everything it's just it's perfect for small garlic this but there's one of the surprise
40:39i got for you what's the little controller that we had yeah yeah oh did you know what there you go
40:47i'm not even over gassing it that might be the greatest placement of something that we didn't know
40:51where to place the nice way to you know what you are a master mechanic it sounds amazing but the only way
40:58to really truly test if this is a banging sound system it's not in dc customs it's out on the road
41:03can i take it for a lick yeah go for it sons out
41:14yeah this is what it's all about man and before you eagle-eyed continuity nurse that messaging yes
41:20these are the original seats back in the car but that's because i'm not leaving two grand carbon
41:25fiber bucket seats with lumbo whilst he rummages around with his screwdriver you lot must be mad
41:31should i crank it go on you pump it
41:40oh yeah yeah here we are catching a vibe right now baby i mean a vibe happens to be two middle-aged
41:46men circumventing a large roundabout in dudley but it's our vibe okay mind your own business
41:51i'm really impressed by this is it it's good you know oh look out just spotted our absolutely
41:57hench kurdish barber johnny bachi
42:00the sound system might be the greatest sound system that's ever been installed in a honda s2000 ever
42:14uh huh but because of this exhaust i can't hear anything anyway i can't i can't hear it
42:20i can't hear it bro i can't hear it bro in the back of the clear
42:27i may not gonna hear it to be fair the stereo ain't on full blast yet because i'm trying to be
42:33respectful to darren's neighbors you know but with the tunes pumping and my best mate by my side
42:39i gotta tell you life feels kind of beautiful man get the car oh
42:53next time on guzcan's custom cars the rap superstars are in town for the biggest visual
42:57transformation of our s2000 yet listen lads you are not mucking about you're happy with that color i
43:03love it i'm telling you right now i get behind the wheel of a civic type r with a truly unique custom
