00:00This is Trinidad James, and this is my fashion story.
00:06Six years ago now, heading towards seven is when I started doing music.
00:11Got into the entertainment business is kind of more what I want to like put it under
00:16because that's kind of more of my overall outlook of it.
00:19You know, it's not just really to do music.
00:21You know, it's kind of like to be the best entertainer.
00:25My involvement with fashion comes from me, over the years, coming out of bad fashion,
00:37still just being myself, like finding, being able to find my own identity
00:43in whatever anybody was wearing, whether it's the year 2000 or 2018.
00:49My personal style would probably be considered, you know, fabulous, fearless.
00:54It's kind of like a street funk type of like a mixture of just the things that I love.
01:02I like to put things together.
01:03I pay attention to what people in the street are wearing.
01:10Like street wear is something that I truly enjoy.
01:14I come from street wear.
01:16As far as like high fashion, I feel like high fashion doesn't truly make sense to you
01:22unless you grow up around it or you can afford it.
01:25And it's so unaffordable even still this day and I got money.
01:30And, but you know, it's like, I like to mix it together because I feel like that's, that's what it's about.
01:36Like if you come draped head to toe in Gucci, that's cute.
01:40But that ain't to me.
01:42I feel like I got way more hate and bashing when I wasn't an entertainer because I've dressed this way for so long when it wasn't cool for men of color or a straight man to just dress how you want to dress.
01:59You know what I'm saying?
02:00Whether it's skinny jeans and all these different things that like insecure people and people who just don't know any better,
02:06considering, you know, gay or bad for the culture or whatever, you know, a bad influence.
02:11When in my personal opinion, I'm not trying to influence anybody.
02:16Like I'm not your daddy.
02:17Like I wear what I want to wear for me.
02:20Thank God for church.
02:22Church is one of those first expressions of blacks, per se, being able to show their fashion, what they, what they, what they can bring to the table, per se.
02:35When I was wearing skinny jeans, skinny jeans been here forever.
02:40Like dudes been wearing the craziest stuff since way back.
02:44If you go look at the Gap Band with Charlie Wilson, who's transcended through all these years, all these years to be like, I've seen, I've seen Charlie Wilson on a plane one time.
02:57It's the only picture I ever regret not asking somebody for because I'm not really into asking people for pictures.
03:02But I was like, man, it hurt me that whole week that I didn't ask him for a picture because I love Charlie Wilson.
03:07Because to see him in, and it's crazy I'm saying this, an all Gucci suit, all Gucci track velour suit, the new one too, like 2018 vibes or whatever.
03:18To know when I seen him on covers where he got like a crop top tied at the middle part or whatever.
03:25And other people in the band got on stuff that if they walked out here today, you would have thought it was Pride weekend all over again.
03:31You know, to see those type of situations and those type of people from a straight man's perspective is like, man, people just don't get it.
03:40And they probably never will.
03:41Next to me is being able to stay creative and of course more music, new movies, more TV.
03:51To me, real artists don't brag on what they do.
03:55You just do it.
03:56And if you find out, you find out.
03:57If you're supposed to know, then you gonna know.
03:59And if you don't know, well, it's alright.
