00:00If not for my girls, I would be in relationships and places that no longer serve me.
00:12People swear that black women don't celebrate each other.
00:15That we are haters, you know what I mean?
00:18Like we don't support one another or we don't compliment one another, we're all in competition
00:22with one another.
00:23The younger generation, the way they speak to each other, if they speak down on another
00:29black woman, then it makes them feel bigger or, yeah girl, what's the tea?
00:34Like nah, how about we not do that?
00:36How about that's my cue?
00:37Highlight the negatives about someone.
00:38Exactly.
00:39How does that make you look?
00:41That makes you look insecure.
00:42I actually think social media has allowed us as women of color to celebrate each other
00:48more because we weren't seeing the platforms for celebration of us.
00:53But I think sometimes we feel like it's okay to just say how we feel about somebody no matter
00:58how negative.
00:59You might just be having one of those days where you're feeling weak, you're not feeling
01:01as pretty and somebody pushes you over the edge and says, yeah, because you're ugly and
01:05you're this or whatever.
01:06Yeah.
01:07And you can really bring somebody down like that.
01:09Come on, these are people.
01:10Right.
01:11These are people with real feelings.
01:13They have families and some care more than others.
01:16I noticed I was doing it.
01:17Maybe when I was pregnant, if I saw a woman walk by, she looked nice, complimented, then I
01:24was like, wow, you look beautiful.
01:25This is not necessarily someone that you know that but receiving that compliment from another
01:31woman is needed.
01:32Not to cut you off, but especially hearing that from black women.
01:37Exactly.
01:38I always make a conscious effort to compliment my sisters.
01:41For some reason, sometimes I think women, we can hold back our compliments.
01:46You're afraid?
01:47That's insecurity.
01:48Yes.
01:49That's insecurity.
01:50I can't stand when somebody sit back and just be reading you with their eyes.
01:53Yeah.
01:54Just say I'm cute, girl.
01:55Just let it go.
01:56You love the shoes.
01:57I still got my edges.
01:58I want to dispel the rumor, like the myth that people have in their minds about us.
02:03So like when I hear your name or your name or anyone else's name who I am fond of, well,
02:08the protective woman in me, anybody black.
02:10Because we go through so much in life and black women are no strangers to struggle.
02:15So like anytime someone brings up a black woman's name, like it's amazing to send out that energy
02:21like, yes, she is freaking amazing.
02:23See, that's the thing that I love about us too.
02:25We're not afraid to say, hey girl, you cute.
02:27Right.
02:28I love this hair.
02:29I love this makeup.
02:30No competition.
02:31None.
02:32Never be a competition.
02:33I know I got beautiful friends.
02:34And I will stay saying that y'all are bad, y'all are talented, the best mothers, the best
02:39girlfriends, the best wives.
02:40I love having beautiful friends.
02:43It doesn't make me feel smaller.
02:44I get so excited when I'm like, you know my girl, Karen?
02:47Yes, I do.
02:48You want to say something?
02:49Try me.
02:50Okay.
02:51I love the way a duck say, hey, she.
02:53Yes.
02:54I know.
02:55That's my back.
02:56I love that.
02:57You got to keep that up.
02:58We have to.
02:59I remember I performed at Essence a couple of years back.
03:03And that was my first time performing in a minute.
03:05And I was super duper nervous because it was super last minute.
03:08I couldn't see the...
03:09You definitely couldn't see the nervousness.
03:10How was it?
03:11How was this?
03:12It was a small little intimate space.
03:14And I could just feel the love.
03:16And I felt so much better because my friend was there.
03:19And she was going to give me the real.
03:21And, you know, show me the love and the support that I needed.
03:24But Carrie has been there.
03:26Yeah.
03:27You know, when I've done my Spoken Angels events, she's always showed up.
03:31So, I know I miss a lot of things.
03:33No, but she show up.
03:34Yes.
03:35No.
03:36Definitely.
03:37To the most important...
03:38Yes.
03:39The most important moments you show up for.
03:40And you have great energy when you show up.
03:42That's the good thing.
03:43Sometimes people are bringing their stuff with them.
03:45Right.
03:46Right.
03:47But you always come with a positive attitude.
03:48Ready to help.
03:49How can I serve?
03:50And I feel like that's the beautiful thing about all of us is we love...
03:56We have nurturing spirits.
03:57We love serving each other.
03:58And you never know when someone could use hearing like that.
04:01Exactly.
04:02You know what I'm saying?
04:03You have postpartum body?
04:04Like right now.
04:05Yeah.
04:06Very fluffy.
04:07Okay.
04:08Or just a little bit more fluffier than I'm used to.
04:11And she stays saying, you look good, girl.
04:13You look sexy.
04:14No, you do.
04:15You're blessed.
04:16Well, thank you, guys.
04:17Say it again.
04:18You're blessed.
04:19You look good.
04:20Over time.
04:21Don't push it.
04:24I know that nowadays there's a lot of pressure.
04:27Have you had any thoughts of going under the knife?
