00:00Everybody, Janelle Snowden with the Hall Brothers, otherwise known as Guy.
00:07Y'all having a good time. I'm feeling the energy.
00:10Because behind us, I hear Dougie, that's why I'm just, I can't help but move.
00:14That's right, he'll take you there.
00:16So listen, this is a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Essence Festival.
00:21Last year, the talk of the festival was Teddy Riley, Guy, Blackstreet, Dougie Fresh.
00:29You guys killed the main stage, and you're coming back this year to do it again.
00:34So I want to know, how can you possibly take it farther over the top?
00:39Well, all we got to do now is do different songs, because we got a whole lot of albums,
00:45and you only heard but like four or five songs.
00:49What about the shirts? Are the shirts coming off again?
00:53Oh, listen, listen, listen. I'm going to say this.
00:55We will look better than this, than what you're seeing right here.
00:58Can I get a preview? Can the ladies get a preview?
01:01Look, listen, listen.
01:05First of all, Trey Songz, all them other cats that's doing what they think they're doing,
01:10we 50 and 54.
01:12You're how old?
01:13We 50 and 54. They ain't taking us out.
01:1650 and 54 with six packs and eight packs.
01:20Okay, so, excuse me.
01:21So what is the regimen?
01:23Like, how do you, in all sincerity, when you're preparing for a festival like Essence,
01:28and you know you're going to take your shirt off for 80,000 ladies in the Superdome,
01:33do you do extra push-ups?
01:34Do you, like, not eat?
01:36What do you do?
01:36What I do is this, is that I teach women and men this,
01:40is that when you love yourself, you'll do your age in push-ups or dips or whatever.
01:46And then whoever you love after you, do their age.
01:49Every time it's a commercial, every time it's like a halftime,
01:52or every time it's something like that,
01:53every time you get mad, do somebody's age that you love,
01:56and I guarantee you, you'll look better and better every day.
01:59That's the secret.
02:00I have never heard of it.
02:01No, no, listen, listen.
02:02Eat right, be good to yourself, be true to yourself,
02:05keep working out, and definitely doing those push-ups like you're going to get on stage, for sure.
02:09What is it about the Essence Festival that makes it so unique?
02:13It's the interaction between the artists.
02:14And it's about the people, period.
02:15That's what makes it unique.
02:17People from all over the country, though.
02:19Everywhere, and in different islands that come down.
02:21Seeing so much peace and so much joy in my black people and my brown people together.
02:27Like, it's a real family reunion.
02:29Go make some noise!
02:31Happy 25th anniversary to Essence, and it being black-owned,
02:34and everything, how it's being worked,
02:36and it's just a whole beautiful thing, man.
02:38Coming from the Hall Brothers and GUI.
02:40You don't see Teddy, but Teddy's here, too.
02:42We just want to appreciate y'all for having us come and repping our music,
02:45and just, we love y'all for that.
02:47We look forward to many more years with y'all.
02:48And if you were there last year, what they gave you then was just a sample
02:52of what they're going to give you this time.
02:54I'm told that they're going to just, normally they start,
02:57they have their shirts on, and then they take them off.
02:59I say this year, you start shirtless.
03:01Like, just go hard from the beginning.
03:02Happy 25th anniversary, Essence.
03:09I can do that.
03:10There you go.
03:11He said it.
03:12Happy 25th anniversary, Essence.
03:14You heard that.
03:14Boo-boo.
