Transcript
00:00Hey everybody, Janelle Snowden here with the always energetic Mr. Ty Trimmon.
00:04We're here to talk about the 25th anniversary of the Essence Festival.
00:07Now, I know that you have performed at the Essence Festival.
00:10I didn't know it was 25 years.
00:1225 years.
00:13How many times have you been there?
00:15Probably 25 times.
00:16It feels like that, right?
00:17I've been there a whole lot of times.
00:18I love coming to the Essence Festival.
00:20Chocolate heaven is what I call it.
00:22That's good.
00:23That's really good.
00:24Chocolate heaven.
00:25I love it.
00:26I love the people there.
00:27Every time we go, they're ready to have a little church when we get up there.
00:30You know what I'm saying?
00:31Nobody's too far from God, no matter how much we party and do what we do.
00:35Everybody comes to the center and God is the center and I always feel that when I hit the stage.
00:41I always feel everybody coming like, you know what?
00:43If it wasn't for God, none of this would be.
00:45So that's what I love about the Essence Festival.
00:47They acknowledge God.
00:48Absolutely.
00:49And that doesn't happen at every festival.
00:50It's like a family reunion too.
00:52Like when you walk the hallways or the streets, there's no strangers.
00:55That's true.
00:56Everybody is family.
00:57Hey, how you doing?
00:58Hey Ty.
00:59I'm like, hey Cynthia, wherever you are.
01:00Right, right, right.
01:01It's a whole, we take over the whole city.
01:03New Orleans is never the same.
01:04And I just love the family about it.
01:06I love the tribe.
01:07Speaking of family, as a performer, when your family hears that you're coming to the Essence
01:12Festival, I'm sure you get requests for tickets all the time.
01:14But when it's the Essence Fest, tell me what that's like.
01:17Are the texts out of control?
01:19As always, the emails, texts, DMs.
01:21We need to get in.
