00:16I feel like every award show that there ever is, from country music to rap music to wherever, you are gracing the stage.
00:23Are you ready, Essence?
00:23There's one stage that you have graced a number of times, and that is the Essence Festival stage.
00:28One of the greatest festivals in the history of mankind.
00:31How about that? Why? Why is that? Why do you think?
00:34Well, it's such a beautiful gathering. So many people that are connected culturally and spiritually and connected to the music.
00:41Always, year after year, have some of the best artists and black music there.
00:46People just really have a good time, and it's not just about the music. It's about the fellowship.
00:50It's about, during the day, going to seminars, just enjoying the city of New Orleans.
00:55There's just so much to Essence that so many people look forward to.
00:58It's really an iconic cultural gathering now that I couldn't imagine America, I couldn't imagine the world, without Essence Festival.
01:06That's the sound bite right there.
01:09There's so much great food, so much going on in the streets. It's just like the energy is kinetic.
01:14It's electric, yeah.
01:15Yeah, it's electric. So New Orleans is a huge part of what makes the festival great.
01:19But of course, once you get inside the Superdome, you just feel that energy.
01:23You feel that connection to everybody, and you're about to be entertained by some of the best entertainers in the world.
01:28Everybody knows when you go to Essence, you can't half do it as a performer either.
01:31That's right. No half-stepping.
01:33No half-stepping. You've got to come with your best material.
01:36Your best material and your Sunday's best. It's about the gear, too, right?
01:39You're not going to be performing this time, unfortunately, but you will be coming back.
01:43I will be coming back, and Essence Festival always brings us back.
