00:00Tyler is a historical figure, but I don't think he's here to make us all happy.
00:05I don't think it's possible to make everybody happy, nor should it be a goal of anyone to make everybody happy.
00:12What Tyler is doing is opening doors for other people to pursue their dreams, their passions, to be creative.
00:20And if Madea helped him get here, I don't see the harm.
00:25Do people still criticize Madea? I thought once Oprah Winfrey gave it the thumbs up, I thought that that was over.
00:32I thought it was over. I know we haven't many people criticizing Tyler so much from Madea anymore.
00:36After all, you know, Madea is dead.
00:38You're not going to ever make everybody happy. That's the thing about it.
00:41You do your best, the best, you know, give 100 like my mom used to say, and that's what he's doing.
00:47You bless who you can bless, help who you can help, and we move on.
00:50And the hood may say, whatever. That's all, whatever.
00:56I mean, you're making a positive impact in society, and you still have criticism.
01:01Don't worry about it. Just do the best you can. And that's what he's done.
01:04There are producers who put out movies that are extremely violent, that, you know, that show kids being murdered, all these other things.
01:15If we don't hold that against everybody, how can we hold Madea against Tyler?
01:22Yeah.
01:22Madea never hurt nobody.
01:24Yeah.
01:24And Madea was a success because there were people that identified with that character.
01:29Whether you liked it or not, there are people who identified with that character.
01:33So, again, we have to focus on the long end.
01:37If you don't know his work, then you don't know what you're talking about.
01:42If you know his work, then you know how much joy it brings to people and how meaningful it is.
01:49My wife and I recently went to see him on stage in New York City.
01:54We saw his play, Madea's Farewell Tour play.
01:57It was one of the most joyful things I've ever seen on stage, and I've been going to the theater for 35, 40 years.
02:04He not only performs, but he teaches as he performs.
02:07He teaches values in the most fun, meaningful way.
02:12And people who put him down, like people who put down all kinds of things, you just have to assume, well, they just don't know.
02:21There's an ignorance involved.
02:23The more you know what he's doing and see what he's doing, you know, I'm such a huge fan now.
02:28Not to mention how he personally reached out to me and resuscitated my career.
02:32I just want to say that what he's doing here is something that has never been seen, never been done before.
02:37This place is the size of Walt Disney Pictures, Warner Brothers, and Paramount all put together.
02:44This place is massive.
02:46It is filled with beautiful black people working hard and living successful lives.
02:50That is an opportunity no one in history has created except for Tyler.
02:54So I don't know where the criticism comes from because it's nothing but wonderful, beautiful things happening here.
02:59I really want to focus on the fact that we are here at the second largest film studio in the country, owned by a black man entirely.
03:08And I think that that's what we should really be focusing on.
03:10And if people have something to say about Medea or any of the other characters, I mean, don't go buy a ticket.
