00:00Hi, I'm Alicia Quarles. I'm a lifestyle and entertainment journalist.
00:13Beauty means to me being beautiful on the inside. It's not necessarily the outside.
00:19So do you have a beautiful heart? Do you give back? Do you take time to help other people?
00:23To me, that's beautiful. When you're happy on the inside, you're radiant on the outside.
00:28Growing up, beauty was never important or enforced in my family.
00:33You know, now I realize I'm a pretty woman. I'm a beautiful woman.
00:36But that's because my parents taught me that being smart is beautiful.
00:39I came to my own realization that I'm beautiful last year.
00:42So last year was a tough year. I lost my best friend to cancer.
00:45I went through a divorce and decided to have a career change.
00:47So it was a lot at once. And that will take you through it.
00:51And you realize that you're strong because you're a woman and we're built for it.
00:54We can multitask. We can do it all. And to me, that's beautiful.
00:57And now there's beauty and strength.
01:00My favorite flaw on my body is my stomach. I got a gut.
01:05But you know what? I don't mind it because they're Spanx.
01:07Thank you, Sarah Blakely. You know, I'm a woman. I embrace it.
01:10Women weren't meant to be stick figures. Or maybe you are.
01:13We come in all shapes and sizes. And I don't want to beat myself down for that.
01:16I just want to love every inch of it, including my gut.
01:19I've got quite a few beauty secrets. I'm so addicted to face masks.
01:23Because I'm in TV, I'm always, you know, putting makeup on, taking makeup off.
01:27So I use the face mask. Obsessed with them.
01:29Water is another good trick. You know, you've got to just drink your water.
01:33Sleep, I would love to get. I don't have it. And also moisturize.
01:37One piece of beauty that I would share with the next generation is to look yourself in the mirror,
01:42every day, every morning, and say, you are beautiful. You are worth it.
01:46So you'll go out into the world, especially in social media age, and people might tear you down,
01:50say you're not good enough, say this or that about you. But it doesn't matter.
01:53You are beautiful. Know who you are, recognize that, and own it.
01:57My mom's taught me that beauty is skin deep, but ugly is to the bone.
02:02So looks can fade, right? You can be beautiful. You can be young one day.
02:05But if you're an ugly person, one day that's going to show.
02:08So be a good person, and then you're beautiful.
