00:00May 10th is a special day for so many reasons obviously my album Beauty Marks is coming out
00:10yes it is my seventh album of my career but it's my first album under my new label imprint and her
00:19own label y'all can we give it up for a boss black woman out here with her own label so sweet you I'm
00:28really proud of it because two years ago you know I was sitting in the office of a major recording
00:34company trying to share my vision and say what I wanted to do and we just couldn't see eye to eye
00:39and I used to always say I have the opportunity on my own record label I'm gonna do it and I can't
00:45wait for that day and that day came way sooner than I had imagined it would it was kind of like a
00:51unfortunate moment happening where me and the label just weren't seeing eye to eye and then the
00:56unfortunate moment happened right after it it's kind of happening at the same time where I got the
01:00chance to run my own label and it's been an incredible journey taking control you know when
01:05we I talk about level up the idea of leveling up is being your own boss you know not being afraid
01:10to take risks I can't lie most of my career I spent it in a major recording company so it was a little
01:16you know new for me and kind of unfamiliar for me to you know take full control and to be operating my
01:22own system but it's been an incredible journey and so Beauty Marks Entertainment is my company
01:28and all things it's all encompassing for all of my everything that I do in my business from the
01:35management side of my world to the music side of my world it's just everything it's all encompassing
01:40and there's so many things that I'm working on now but it has been an incredible journey taking
01:45control and you know being able to do things exactly how I want to do them and not having to get
01:50approval from others and not having to wonder if they really do like what I'm doing and if they're
01:56not talking bad behind my back because I will tell you guys I know there were whispers when I was in the
02:02major recording system that I couldn't stream anymore that you know I think they just wanted I
02:07they didn't they didn't know how serious I was about my career I was pregnant I was actually three
02:12months pregnant when I signed with the last recording company I was with and I was so afraid of saying I'm
02:18pregnant but it was one of the most beautiful times in my life and my husband said to me like this is a
02:22beautiful time for you like celebrate it like you know what's meant for you is going to be for you
02:27like don't there's no need to be worried and so you know by God's grace I was confident enough to say
02:31that I was pregnant that moment and the deal did go forward but at the end of it obviously it didn't
02:36work out but it was an incredible journey you know when I was carrying my daughter my first daughter
02:41and when I was faced with that I made most of my record during my pregnancy like when I was up to
02:46eight months pregnant and I kind of actually sorry I started when I was eight months pregnant
02:50closing out the record and then you know unfortunately me and the label we just didn't
02:55see eye to eye but it was so cool you know taking control it was so cool you know not being afraid like
03:02it was so cool like embracing my journey and saying I can do this like I can be a mom of two and rock this
03:09thing I can put you know do what I put my mind to if I believe in myself yes and I really learned the
03:15power of believing in myself and that's what this journey has been about it showed me that can't
03:21no one close the door that God has opened for you amen right with the word yeah because sometimes we
03:29give power to people on this earth but they don't have the power right and I learned that because
03:37whatever is meant for you is going to be for you even if it takes a long time to get there
03:42you stay the course stay the course believe in yourself I heard a lot more no's than I heard
03:49yeses I still hear no's to this day and I know I'm like you know what I'm going to stay focused
03:54I believe in myself I know that God has something special planned for me and it's going to work out
04:00when it's supposed to work out and I'm not going to stop believing so I want to share that because
04:06that's what beauty marks this chapter is for me and it's shown me so much more about myself it also
04:11showed me the power of my fans and knowing that I wouldn't be sitting here on this stage if it
04:17wasn't for them
