00:00I've never felt that glamorous before, that's for sure. I felt like a queen.
00:12Everybody treated me beautifully and it was it was fun. It was a lot of fun.
00:15I liked the orange dress, especially once they started encouraging me to throw it as I was
00:23wearing it, just throw it, throw it, I was feeling quite sexy. Since I was basically
00:31nine years old, I've been a performer, I've been an actress and a singer since I
00:34was nine. It's the only thing I know how to do. But also portraying these great
00:40African-American women in history, you know, Billie Holiday is an icon. And then
00:46to also be a part of Shuffle Along, which is, you know, a show that existed on
00:50Broadway in 1921. And it was fully produced and written and directed and
00:56starring African-American people. And then it just kind of became this footnote in
01:00history. It kind of went away. So it's great to be a part of sort of telling
01:03history. So that's another reason why those projects are very important to me.
01:06I just want to keep growing as an artist. I want to keep growing as a singer and as
01:11an actress. I want to be better tomorrow than I am today. I want to keep improving.
01:15I want to keep evolving. I guess I would tell my nine-year-old self, it's gonna be
01:23okay. I think I would tell her these things about you that make you feel
01:29different from everybody else, that makes you feel out of control. When people say
01:34you're overdramatic, you're too hyper, you're so sensitive, you have all these
01:38feelings. It's okay. And they're actually going to be incredible assets to you. And
01:44that's a part of who you are and be proud of it. And one day all of that will come
01:49in handy in an incredibly fulfilling way. So I think I would have just told myself
01:55it's gonna be okay.
