00:00Welcome to Essence U. My name is Malia Brown and I'm your college ambassador representing the beautiful University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
00:20Fall semester is in full effect as our 2016 seniors are on the fast track to graduation.
00:26Can you believe that it's really been four years since we were the new kids on the block?
00:30I mean literally in a few short months we're gonna be walking across that stage and entering into our adult lives.
00:36Time is moving way too fast. This is the most exciting time of our life.
00:41I mean everything is going on. Things are changing.
00:44But it could be a little daunting to think about trying to find a job, trying to find a place to live,
00:50ending the partying, and leaving a place that we've been so comfortable with for the past four years of our life.
00:56I spoke with some seniors at my university to get the inside scoop of what are some of the highs and lows of transitioning from college life to the real world.
01:05I don't want to spoil it, so let me let you just check it out.
01:08...benefits and things of that nature.
01:10And so I think the low is definitely, you know, actually finding those jobs, getting those applications in, filling out those resumes and things of that nature.
01:18The high is definitely opening up a new chapter.
01:21You can't change that graduation is coming. But what you can change is the way that you prepare for it.
01:26First things first, you gotta make a decision. What do you want to do after college graduation?
01:31Do you want to go straight into the workforce, to the military, or do you want to further your education?
01:35Second thing, you gotta get out there and start a network and make connections so that when you do get into the real world, it's easier for you to navigate.
01:42And third, and most importantly, you have to have faith in the process.
01:46If you do the best that you can, everything will pan out the way that it's supposed to.
01:50Thank you for watching. I'm Malia Brown, and this is Essence U.
