00:00you know it's no secret that women do not often get what they're worth they don't ask for raises
00:08or negotiate salaries how do you handle that I know my worth I've been in this game for a minute
00:13I've done every job you can think of from the bottom to the top you know what I'm saying so
00:17you better drop a bar Alicia real talk I should have said freelance I should have said entrepreneur
00:20because the point was I'm building a brand and I've become a brand but I've been in a lot of
00:24work so I'm never ever afraid to ask for what I'm worth ever what can they say no okay then I'll
00:28work for you I'm not beholden the fact that the worst thing they could say is no then you can
00:33become more comfortable but asking for what you're worth asking for more money and for me when I
00:37figured out what other people were getting the other color and I was like right that's the key
00:42oh when you like for a blogger for example people with the same followers as you people have been
00:50doing this the same hello wait a minute you do and you're like you paid how much to do what exactly
00:56right and so another thing for me is that I ended up working on the side with a lot of the brands
01:01that you know give opportunities to people like us and then I started to realize like these people
01:06have budgets right yeah so if that's the case like why am I so afraid to ask for what I deserve I think
01:12at the end of the day whatever a lot of times whatever we're thinking of they probably have
01:16twice that month yeah I'm always mad like I'll give a number and then like sure wait a minute
01:22yeah yeah always about the dollar because sometimes maybe it's a startup or maybe the person really
01:41doesn't have that budget yeah maybe you're gonna go support your brown people or your women or somebody
01:45that looks out for you or have a vision who you believe in so maybe it's not all it maybe it's
01:49the great publicity so it's not always about the check it's about the long-term you know goal or
01:54maybe i can build a relationship with this well let me chime in real quick on social media there's
01:58something about salaries all of you out there that are bringing up at jay say what tongue twister
02:03said i pulled together salary data my resume and recent accomplishments when discussing a raise
02:08facts have worked for me okay at staged on purpose tweeted the request depending upon the industry
02:14slash structure must be supported by evidence slash examples of work production and at liz legginson
02:20plays no games when it comes to how to ask for a raise she tweeted very easily i know my worth
02:26hello holla at it i like liz i like that girl but don't say that i like that inside but as a boss
02:32you know i used to manage people and then hiring up if you're coming to me with the raise you have
02:36supporting why you need it but then also if i'm going to give you the raise how are you going to
02:39help me in the future what are your plans going forward they're going to help me my team and my
02:43vision what you bring to my table i'm glad you know your worth but do you know my worth what i need
