00:00How did you transition into acting?
00:04The transition was actually pretty smooth.
00:07I got released by Baltimore and I was sitting in my kitchen fielding calls from other teams to see if I wanted to continue to play.
00:15And in the back of my mind I knew that I was going to act at some point.
00:19I took a drama course in college and the professor was really complimentary of my work and told me that he thought that I should pursue it as a living.
00:27And, you know, being the young, cocky baseball player, I would never.
00:31You? No. Tell me more.
00:32Okay. I'm putting on that I was cocky.
00:35I told him, you know, I'm going to play pro ball, man. I'm not going to need that.
00:40And he was like, well, you know, just keep it in your back pocket.
00:43You never know.
00:44One of the wise things that grown people tell young people that we don't get until we're grown.
00:48And you never listen to it first.
00:50I kept hearing what I call God's voice in my ears saying it's time.
00:54And I took that to mean that it's time to transfer from the baseball train to the one that was going to take me to my ultimate destination.
01:02So I rented a car and I just drove the two hours to L.A. and called one of my college buddies, Thomas Ware.
01:10Shout out.
01:12It's been good. I've worked consistently and now I'm having a good run with a great show and a great group of people that I work with.
01:22So I don't have any regrets.
01:24And speaking of that great show being Mary Jane, your character in MJ, Gabrielle Union's character, can't ever seem to get on that same page.
01:33Which, personally, I'm just going to blame you for everything.
01:35Why do you feel that there's that constant friction between the two of you?
01:40Well, because there's so much passion and there's so much chemistry and there's so much intelligence flying between those two people.
01:48That they, everybody, they each have their walls and they each have their pride and their ego and they don't have the capacity to all the way let it go.
02:01And when they finally do, God willing they finally do, God willing writers that they finally do.
02:06I was going to say, was that a slip for the finale?
02:08No, no, definitely not.
02:10I can't say anything about the finale except for what has been shown already.
