00:00To me, Black History Month means family. You know, I think about my mother, who's from Louisiana and New Orleans, and my father, who's Senegalese, West African, and just the family values they instilled in us, and especially my mother. My mom used to have an MLK rap, and it was kind of corny, but I was proud of her, and she just really, really just reiterated the importance of understanding where we come from, because that's where you figure out where you're going.
00:30For me, Black History Month is every month. That's just what it means to me. I'm so proud of where I come from, and I appreciate so much what those who have come before me have done to lead my path.
00:43I think my favorite moment in Black History is just the Black Arts Movement of the late 60s, early 70s, and it really just, you know, you had a Mary Baraka, you had so many people, so many artists just working, using art for social change, and highlighting our issues in an artistic way, and I just really appreciate that time period, because it influenced me.
01:13I love having my work as inspirational to some of the work that I will continue to produce in the future.
