Watch as actress Condola Rashad makes the bold move to singer.
Transcript
00:00As a child, Kundola Rashad grew up behind the scenes of one of television's most beloved sitcoms.
00:14Now, two decades later, she's taken to the stage and become a star on Broadway.
00:19You know, to be honest, I don't remember the moment that I decided that acting was going to be in my career.
00:23That just was what happened. I think I always kind of was like, no, I'm going to be an actor.
00:30In the large picture, it's wonderful, but it is work.
00:34I'm wondering if you can do me a favor. Are you one of the admins on our Facebook page?
00:39It has its ups and downs. It really does. Because nothing is finite.
00:44You might not have work for a minute. You might have a burst of work and then you're working for years
00:49and then you have like a period where you're not working.
00:52You can't wait. You can't wait for people to give you work. You have to make it yourself.
00:57Recently, Kundola made the bold move to shift her focus to her other passion, her music.
01:02And now the young actress plays manager and frontman of her band, Kundola and the Stoop Kids.
01:07The time can be tricky going from acting to singing. Not creatively though, actually, because they both feed each other.
01:21But it can be difficult just balancing how much time you spend for both.
01:25It sounds easy to say, oh, I'm just going to make a band and I did it.
01:28But actually, it was very difficult and it's difficult now. It's a huge band. There's eight people in it.
01:32So like managing eight different personalities and eight different people with eight different schedules.
01:37It's a lot and we're extremely indie. So it's like we don't have someone who's taking care of like, oh, you know, on Sunday you'll be playing this venue.
01:45Like no, every venue we play is because I'm like on the phone or on the thing trying to make everything happen.
01:50You never stop, you know. It's not something that you ever just are like, oh, great. I'm just going to stop now.
02:00I'm learning more and more that it's not about like working to a final product. It's just about working and just seeing where that takes you.
