00:00I tell people all the time it takes me a while to make records because I have to
00:08live the songs first. Writing is kind of my thing. I'm a musician first and that's
00:15what I consider myself. I'm a musician that happens to be able to sing a little
00:18bit and has a certain amount of charisma and people like to see me perform but
00:22ultimately I'm a musician so it takes time to to write really good quality
00:30songs and I try not to just throw albums together and I I'm kind of old school in
00:35that I don't like to make singles I like to make records where it all fits together
00:40like Thriller is a record you don't want to just buy that one song you wanted the
00:43whole record and I'm old school like that and I still try to make really good
00:48quality records and it just takes time. New album just released yesterday is the
00:53title Bless This House and it's getting acclaimed with great acclaim all over the
00:59world and just this week we just left the Stellar Awards which are like the
01:03Gospel Grammys and I received a Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of James
01:08Cleveland which is such a full circle moment because I got my start in the
01:13early 80s playing for I was his music director. I played piano and
01:17traveled with him all over the world never dreamed that I was anything more
01:21than a piano player but God had a destiny for my life so this weekend was a full
01:26circle moment and then the day before I was honored with the BMI trailblazers
01:30award alongside with Edwin Hawkins and Tremaine Hawkins which they're just royalty and
01:35I just felt just so humbled and overwhelmed by it all. The song in the
01:39sanctuary which is the song that made me famous and made me a world artist as
01:45opposed to being a black artist was never supposed to be recorded. I was recording a
01:50live album on Saturday and that Thursday I came up with this idea to just warm up my
01:55group. Just a warm-up song and that night my singer that sings for Every Mountain
02:02song. Her name is Yvette Williams. Her daughter was eight at the time. She said
02:06Kurt, my daughter will not stop singing that song. She said we need to record it. I said you think? So that was Thursday and that Saturday we recorded it and the rest is history and some years later, 20 years later now almost, her daughter went to college and I wrote her a check to help send her to college. I said thank you. But a song more like I've seen him do it which is a song that's at radio right now. It's doing
02:32really, really, really well and everyone that hears it either they cry or they lift their hands and thank God. All of us from the most childlike believer, the new believer to the experienced seasoned believer, we all have experienced God do phenomenal and incredible things in our lives.
02:50I've seen him do it. I've seen him do it. I've seen him do it. I've seen him do it. Whatever problem you've got. I'm singing soft so I don't blow you out. If you just give it to God, he'll work it out. How do I know? I've seen him do it.
03:20I've seen him do it. I've seen him do it. And on and on and on.
