Transcript
00:00Straight from the pages of Essence Magazine. I'm Corinne Corbett, your beauty director, here to take you on a journey to discover the fiercest products, the latest gadgets, and talk about all things beautiful. This is Beauty All Access.
00:13So ladies, today, I'm always telling you I have a special treat, but I do really have a special treat today. I'm here with DJ Diamond Cuts. Yes. Out of Philly. And she is working on a program that I thought you guys would be really excited to learn about. She's working with Dove on their self-esteem program. And tell me how you came to be involved in that.
00:37Well, Dove reached out to three DJs, me being one of them. Dove is all about women empowerment and positive women doing things in the industry and just everyday life. So they asked me to be a part of this program. And I've been working with them for a while. I'm glad to be a part of it.
00:55They told me about the self-esteem weekend that they were doing, where they would pull in some of the Girl Scouts. And, you know, I definitely wanted to be a part of that. Only because I'm all about helping, you know, the younger women.
01:09Sometimes you can find themselves and just talk to them and be a mentor to them. So I'm really excited to be a part of this program.
01:16So you're also involved in online music awards. Talk a little bit about that.
01:19MTV OMAs. I cannot wait. It's supposed to be like this big dance party. And so we're going to go out there in LA. We're just going to have a whole lot of fun. Make sure you guys, you know, keep your eyes and ears open for that. The MTV OMAs. I can't. I'm so excited about it.
01:36How do you create your look for, you know, you're working because a lot of people going there is just putting a look together to party. But you're going there to create the party.
01:45Right. I mean, the difference between my style and a lot of females, period, is, you know, I'm not a heels person. I don't wear heels. I'm always in flats, boots or sneakers. Just wearing something comfortable.
01:57As far as, you know, my, you know, maintaining my face, you know, I put some some like makeup on. I'm not really a huge makeup person, but I love mech. That's cool.
02:10You know, put a little powder on there so the face won't fall throughout the, you know, in the middle of the night. But, you know, that's pretty much how I, you know, keep up with that.
02:18As far as hair goes. Now, that's just, that's the tricky part with the hair because, you know, it gets really muggy in there. It's hot, sweaty and your hair, you know, power hair.
02:28Yes. Or it gets really flat. So, what I usually do, and I don't want to, you know, really tell you this, but I will because I'm sitting here in Essence, you know, throw a little wig on and I'll be all right. Yeah.
02:41No, that's a good thing. We, you know, we at Essence embrace the wig.
02:46Yeah, we embrace the wig. Embrace a good wig.
02:49Throwing on a wig, the right wig. The right one.
02:52Um, it only can, you know, elevate your look. It's all about the, the right way.
02:58Right. That's all about the right way. So, how do you, how did you find yours? Did you work with your stylist? Did you?
03:04Um, well, yeah, I talked to one of the, talked to one of my stylists and they told me the type of hair to buy.
03:10Um, what do I, I think I get, um, Remy, the human, yeah. So, I get that. I'm not even really big on that either, but I do it when I have to.
03:21But I get the Remy and, um, you know, she'll fix it up. She'll do it for me. I'll drop the cap off to her.
03:28She'll put the hair on there and I'll pick it up and then we get to go. It's just as easy as that is, so.
03:34And you don't feel like you get too hot in the club with a wig on?
03:36No, I don't get too hot. I mean, I know it would be worse if it was off, you know.
03:42I'm like, okay, just work with this. Imagine if I didn't have it or my hair would be all over the place.
03:48So, yeah, the wig is just my best friend.
03:51And so, and then Duff plays a part then too when you're, when you're working at night.
03:55So, what is the product that you're using then?
03:57Right, you know, right now we, we got the, um, the rebalance deodorant. I use the plum fragrance.
04:02I love it because finally we found, uh, well not we, but I found a deodorant that works.
04:09You know, I'm the type of DJ that keeps deodorant in her book bag.
04:12I keep deodorant in my book bag and I usually keep, you know, perfume in my book bag.
04:16So, when, um, when Duff sent me the product, I tried it because I wanted to make sure, you know, it actually worked and it did.
04:22I put it on, you know, in the morning and I'm good for the rest of the day and I haven't found that in any other deodorant yet.
04:31So, I'm happy to be a part of something that actually works.
04:34As far as the body mist goes, you know, I spray all the way down to my sneaks and I'm good, you know, for the whole day.
04:41So, I'm really glad to be a part of, um, a product that actually, you know, represents positive women but also really works.
04:49So, I'm just happy to be a part of that, man.
04:52So, thank you, DJ Diamond Cut for being with us today coming up from Philly and sitting with us at Essence here today.
