00:00These brothers are five brothers that were chosen because of their commitment to their
00:12communities. Today we're going to get to know a little bit more about them. So without further
00:17ado, I'd like you to meet Harold Burnett. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, brother?
00:23My name is Harold Burnett. I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founder and president of HGB
00:28Ministries, which is a faith-based organization in Philadelphia committed to serving the inner
00:33city youth in Philadelphia. We just opened up a rec home and I'm proud of that and I'm happy,
00:37happy, happy to be down here in Essence in New Orleans. Next up we have Phil Solomon from New
00:43Jersey. Phil, can you tell us a little about yourself? Hey everybody. What I did is I started
00:49the East Brunswick Young Adult Charity Players and what we do is we put on productions and
00:59musicals and we get money from the community and we give it back to a lot of different kids
01:05in the community that are mentally handicapped, physically disabled and stuff like that.
01:11And then next up we have Billy Walker. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, brother?
01:14Hi, my name is Billy Walker. I am the principal of Southwest Preparatory Academy High School
01:22located in Memphis, Tennessee. I'm also a college professor at Cambridge College. The reason
01:28why I'm here at Essence is because I am deeply in my community 365 days a year because I run
01:33an over-8th grade Challenge Youth Charter School that has increased graduation rates by 8.7 percent
01:39is also decreased graduation rates from 17.1 to 10.4 to 1 percent for the 2009-2010 school year. So
01:48every one of my graduates actually goes on to a post-secondary option which is a four-year
01:53university, two-year community college, technical school of the military and it's mandatory and we
01:59also have dual enrollment so we're trying to help our community 365 and I'm loving it and we're
02:05definitely loving it at Southwest Preparatory Academy. I bring you Greece from Memphis.
02:08My name is Lucas Boyce and the reason I'm a Minima Cafe, first off it's an honor to be one of five
02:15young men doing good things in our community, our global community. How I got involved in this and my
02:21story just real quickly is when I was born to a drug and alcohol addicted call girl and sent to foster
02:29care home when I was about 10 days old. I adopted when I was three and all the stats say that I wasn't
02:35supposed to be anything you know and I had a wonderful wonderful mother a woman of essence
02:41if you will and she instilled in me her two keys of success and she said I could do anything I put
02:46my mind to and when I about to graduate high school she asked me Lucas what's next what do you want to
02:52do and how you're going to get there and I told her I had three big dreams that I wanted to work at the
02:56White House I wanted to fly aboard Air Force One and my last dream was to work for an NBA team and by the
03:03grace of God and a lot of hard work over the course of nine years I was able to accomplish all three of
03:08those goals because I followed mom's two keys to success and former President Bill Clinton said he
03:15said that there's nothing wrong with America that can't be cured with what is right with America and
03:21you all are what is right with America McDonald's is what is right with America. Hey everybody my name
03:27is Dr. Maurice A. Lee and I'm bringing you greetings from Orangeburg South Carolina by day I am a
03:33pharmacist with Walgreens actually a pharmacy manager and I also am the founder of the MLE scholarship fund
03:40which is an initiative that I started back in 2006 to award scholarships to students that are
03:45earning their first year of a four-year college or university who are faced with uncontrollable financial
03:50circumstances but are yet having that insured desire to attend college to pursue their dreams. Thank
03:57you so much brothers and can we give them another round of applause please. Thank you so much this has
04:03been Essence.com and these are the brothers of mocha men of McDonald's and thank you so much everyone.
