00:00You know you have a dream when when you're younger and you know you continue that you
00:08work hard and for the record to have connected with people on such a level back home it meant
00:14the world to me and just the fact that these stories had taken on a life of their own and
00:18by word of mouth the whole thing had spread so it felt incredible it was really a dream come true
00:23for me. I was really quiet as a kid and I think music was the one place I could be loud you know
00:30so the louder I could get my voice the more I could express myself so and I was just so inspired
00:35by those big singers like Whitney Houston and Lisa Baker so I think from from a young age I used that
00:40as as my way to be loud. Well you know I'm just excited this is gonna be my first American festival
00:47and just having the support of Essence is such a big thing for me and I'm really excited about
00:53the lineup I've never been to New Orleans before so there's like a multitude of reasons why I'm
00:58just I'm just so excited. The main thing is is reminding yourself of what the music means to
01:03you and who's gonna be out there people might be seeing for the first time so you I kind of do a
01:08little meditation before I go on and just really remember why it's important and why I'm there so
01:13and I think getting in that mindset is is my kind of priority. What I want I want to start writing for
01:18the second album or just new material in general I want to I want to get that creative juice out
01:24because I love you know I love spreading the word about the music but my favorite part is creating
01:29and evolving as an artist so that's kind of the next step.
