00:08So excited to see all these ladies.
00:10Real fierce and fearless women celebrate and compliment other women,
00:15and we recognize and embrace the notion that their shine in no way diminishes our light,
00:22and that it actually makes our light shine brighter.
00:25The images that black women in Hollywood create are images that influence the entire world.
00:32Driven women, women who overcome struggle and challenge and hardship and are here standing proud.
00:39It's so empowering. You leave the room completely empowered.
00:43I have always wanted to be recognized by Essence because I recognize myself from the very first issue.
00:51But just to be invited to sit amongst all of you talented, beautiful women,
00:58I am really touched, very overwhelmed, and extremely grateful.
01:06I would also like to thank everyone who helped me play this part and everyone who was there for me
01:14and my babysitter that was going to say thanks to everyone.
01:19To see your peers go through some of the same struggles as you have and achieve their dreams and their goals.
01:26We have been in every part of Hollywood having our say-so, both in front of them and behind the camera.
01:32We applaud the collective efforts that we're all making and to just, you know, appreciate each other's craft.
01:38And I always have to come here every year so I can feel my cup up, I can see your faces, hear your voices, so I can get back to work.
01:47When the personality comes to serve the energy of the soul, that is authentic power.
01:56I am grateful that you see me and that you have heard me and that what I have said has mattered.
