00:00You want to know why white people spent so much time trying to keep black people
00:09from reading? Because if they were the only ones who could read and write, they
00:14would be the only ones digesting and circulating the stories that made racism
00:18so easy. Systemic oppression, is that you player? For the better part of modern
00:24history, the concepts of race and gender have been considered taboo. Swept under
00:29the rug in private life, ostracized is too uncomfortable to discuss in the
00:33workplace and too sensitive for children to learn about in schools. The old saying
00:38goes, you want to hide something from a black person, you put it in a book. But I
00:43don't know if we can honestly say they were ever really trying to hide anything.
00:46I think they were just trying to buy their time, cooking up the systems and isms
00:51that generate the statistics that fit their narrative. But I hate to tell you,
00:56we can read now, boss. And reading isn't the only way to take a peek behind the veil.
01:01Thanks, TikTok.
01:04Hey, Miss Tal.
01:13Well, hello there.
01:15You all right?
01:16Yes, ma'am.
01:17Lady, I'm so proud of you.
01:20Okay, I know that sometimes it can feel heavy.
01:22And the weight of the world sometimes feels like it's on your shoulder, but heavy is the crown.
01:26Yeah.
01:27And you've been chosen for this. And I'm proud of you.
01:30I'm so pleased with you. Thank you.
01:34We need you. And we're grateful for you.
01:37But not even us. Generations to come will be blessed by you.
01:41Wow.
01:42You know that though, right?
01:43Yeah.
01:44Honey, you're good. So just make sure you're taking care of yourself.
01:47Yes, ma'am.
01:48Make sure you're even, well, staying hydrated.
01:51And listen, keep on minding your business.
01:55And I will. Yeah.
01:56Be proud of you.
01:58Thank you. Thank you.
01:59I love you, honey.
02:00Okay. Very good. I'll talk to you later.
02:01All right.
02:02Call me if you need me.
02:03Yes, ma'am.
02:03Okay. All right. See you later.
02:05Bye.
02:06Okay, Lynnae, we're ready for you.
02:08You want some statistics? I got some for you.
02:1256% of Black Americans live in the South.
02:15In the 90s, about 38% of Black children lived in two-parent households.
02:21In 2012, about 327,000 students were enrolled in HBCUs.
02:26But only about 2,000 made it to the number one HBCU.
02:31Just a couple more.
02:32We're almost done.
02:34In 2021, only 6.1% of public school teachers were Black.
02:40And in 2024, studies show that only 23% of Black influencers make it past the nano-influencer mark,
02:47with more than 50,000 followers.
02:49Lump all that together, and that's how you get me.
02:52And that's why I got to run in my mouth on the internet, exposing all of the truths I learned
02:59in a master's program in African American studies.
03:02A degree everybody told me I'd never be able to do anything with.
03:06And look at me now.
03:09How many influencers get our own TV show?
03:12I can count us on one hand.
03:14But combine all of that with a unique blend of authenticity, charisma, passion,
03:19and let's be honest, the it factor.
03:21And that's how you pimp a parking lot.
