00:00Being in those conference rooms, taking up that space, is very important to me.
00:04It's part of what drives me, what makes me passionate about what I do.
00:07And I don't mind being the only one or the only two from time to time because that's
00:11an opportunity for all of us.
00:15My job is to craft the brand message, to introduce the love of Tatcha to consumers all over the
00:26world.
00:27We love humanity.
00:29We are a brand that wants to connect with anyone that wants to connect with us.
00:33So my job is to be the person that brings that message to those around the world and even
00:39more since the brand is doing so well, there's so many more people we can touch.
00:43This is something that I've worked for my entire career.
00:47If not me, then who?
00:49Has always been my mentality from the beginning.
00:52My first brand in beauty was Softsheen Carson.
00:55So I had the opportunity when I first stepped into this industry to be mentored by amazing
01:01black women and work on brands like Dark and Lovely and Optimum Care that are near and dear
01:06to my heart.
01:07So I was very fortunate to be mentored in that way.
01:09I left Wall Street to come into the beauty industry.
01:12And one of the reasons is because there was a lack of representation and I wanted our voices
01:17to be heard through me.
01:19So being in those conference rooms, taking up that space is very important to me.
01:23It's part of what drives me, what makes me passionate about what I do.
01:26And I don't mind being the only one or the only two from time to time, because that's
01:30an opportunity for all of us.
01:32I want more brown people to know about the opportunities in this industry.
01:37I didn't know about opportunities in the beauty industry when I was young.
01:40You know, it was all about get one of those good jobs on Wall Street or become a doctor
01:44or a lawyer.
01:46And I didn't know about beauty until I was in business school.
01:48I wish I'd known about this earlier.
01:50I would have plunged in earlier.
01:51So part of my job is to let those folks out there know that, hey, this is an opportunity
01:56for you.
01:57Here's a way in whether you're coming in as an intern or coming into a full time role.
02:02And then it's also my job to connect them to those that can make it happen.
02:06I'm in this business because of exposure, because of opportunity, because of advocacy
02:11and people who have mentored me and shepherded me career wise from the beginning.
02:16If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't be in the seat I'm in today.
02:21I'll see you soon.
02:22I'll see you soon.
02:23Bye.
