01:12i mean you know listen you all play uh mr brown and and cora simmons so just let's talk about how do
01:19you feel having to leave these characters on the stage talk about this uh farewell experience you know
01:27one of those bittersweet things you know when tyler first approached us and told us hey we're gonna
01:31do one more tour you know we want to leave and i'm doing a farewell tour we were like what i'm sad i'm
01:37sad i said you can't get rid of money everybody has a household life she's an icon yes and my mama how you
01:44gonna kill my mom
01:45you know and in his words he wanted to make sure that he put the character to rest before he was
01:53actually the same age as money so that was his thinking but i don't know you know i i'm always like
02:00i want to start a petition to where he don't get rid of money so i don't know about that hey i'm with
02:06you on that i'll sign it we we got to get it like you know i know tyler you know listen tyler's our
02:11brother uh you know he's so talented it's amazing what he's done through this character over the years
02:16so i'm with you like hey let's sign the media save media but yes um how has this you know how has
02:24the experience of you know speaking of tyler uh you know who was just i mean literally like
02:29every time i'm around him i tell him i say you know what you inspire me and you depress me at the
02:33same time like how in the world you know can any of us ever get to where he is because he is such an
02:39inspiration and so i want to know you know how did these characters change your life you know when
02:45tyler came to you the very first time all the way until now talk about the experience on how working
02:51with him has changed your life well for me it definitely changed mine because when i first met him and
02:58probably some people heard me say i told him i would sing for him all day but i'm not an actress
03:03and he said before it's over with i'll have you acting and here it is 20 years 20 something years
03:09later you know she literally was afraid to act everybody like she was like no give me the mic let
03:15me close my eyes and let me sing you know for me it's changed even dealing with with tyler perry is
03:22like he challenged us to dream yes and and even on a daily when we're with him you know shooting the
03:28other shows and stuff it's just like a challenge to dream bigger and i know we had a conversation
03:33during the farewell tour it's like he asked me a question he said you got to dream bigger you got
03:38to dream bigger and i was literally like okay all right so it's it's been a challenge like dream bigger
03:45and and it's definitely it's caused both both of us yes to think bigger and dream bigger yes wow you
03:52know in our own for our own uh company company and businesses that we've started it's just really
03:59been a blessing so he's really been a blessing to us in so many different ways and just just giving
04:05instructions and just even just watching him right what he accomplished so to give us that push and
04:12encouragement that we as people of color that we can own our own business we can you know create
04:18things for ourselves and that's kind of what we have to do is create things for ourselves and for
04:24our viewers yeah i mean you know speaking of you know the creation of things for ourselves and our
04:30viewers i do think that tyler continues to inspire all of us to do that and dream big uh but before we
04:36continue the conversation why don't we give the viewers a sneak peek at medea's farewell play which

06:53literally forgot that we were doing a play for people we would be entertaining ourselves and they
06:58call me the past audience member because i'm laughing i was laughing every night but let's
07:04talk about that because having been to so many of of the medea plays over the years it literally feels
07:10like every night on stage it's a party so just talk about like when tyler breaks character or someone
07:17lose forgets their line talk about the experience of what it's like that we don't actually see because
07:23we're trying to follow with the play from the audience but what are you all experiencing on stage
07:28go ahead so ordinarily you wouldn't let the audience in on that right but we made it a part
07:33of the show if you forgot a lot it was like nah i'm not gonna let you get away with it he would just
07:37pimples out and i was like they wouldn't even know if you wouldn't say anything and then i i mean
07:42we're actually talking saying these things like they wouldn't know he was like no you forgot i was like no
07:48we were bringing you back in on your line so it was so much fun night after night and even with all
07:54the music and it incorporating all the old songs and with new songs it was just it was great inspiration
08:02night after night even for us it was a lot of fun and for us it was like you know it was a bittersweet
08:08because of the farewell tour but it we hadn't been on the stage with each other in so long it was like
08:15every night we would get caught in the show ourselves yeah we would sit at the table there's
08:20a couple scenes you'll got you guys will see we're sitting at the table we'll be having our own
08:24conversation and we were looking like hey y'all we got to finish the show for the people we're
08:29entertaining ourselves i love that now let me ask you this what can fans expect when they watch this
08:37for those that have had not you know weren't there in the theater and they're going to be tuning
08:41into bet plus on august 27th what can they expect when they watch um well we always say is expect the
08:49unexpected because things are going to happen that you wouldn't ordinarily see things will happen that
08:56you'll be like wow i can't i can't unsee what i just seen right because we did there were a couple
09:05nights we knew what was coming but we still would be like my component i'm gonna lose composure it's
09:11like how am i supposed to get myself together after all of that so it's wow it's crazy it's crazy so
09:17there's a lot of surprises a lot of surprises unexpected unexpected nice before we close i know our our time is
09:24short i just want to go back to one quick thing uh so tamla when you said that you were you know
09:29hey i'll sing but i won't act and here you are acting you had to conquer that fear someone right
09:34now is watching and they have a similar fear and they labeled themselves as if they're not something
09:40what would you say to someone right now to overcome their fear and not put themselves in a box
09:44i'm sorry um it's kind of like taking your having faith over fear it's like you just have to do it
09:51it's just like regardless to what's happening it's like i want to accomplish this this is what i was
09:57telling myself i want to accomplish this so it's like okay i'm gonna do it afraid just do it afraid
