00:04you're drawn into uh i believe it's autumn's character who is seemingly running from the
00:12floods correct of being displaced and so that's a very real thing and then to see the outcome
00:19but one thing i'm curious about and i've read you talk about this is that you just reading the log
00:25line you think stripper club you think the south black women you like okay this is players club or
00:31this is another take of hustlers but you've said you don't mind those comparisons can you talk about
00:36why you don't you know i definitely feel as though you know we we descend from the players club and
00:44that you know that was a movie that really uh moved the culture you know for a minute it was number one
00:51on netflix it was either number one or number two during quarantine so people was like going
00:56back into the crates and and looking at that movie um it was like one of the first movies that really
01:02i would say um visually articulated a black southern strip club right um in terms of of hustlers i i
01:09always say that we're sisters um the fact that you know that particular story was told from the female
01:14gaze which is something that i think our show is extremely successful at you know we center the
01:20stories of the women we experience the world through the women we are up on the pole with the women um so
01:28i really feel this though my show is definitely in conversation um with those uh pieces um and and i just
01:36hope that we're adding you know a a different um unique perspective in that we are not only dealing with
01:44you know the the lives of the dancers but you know you think of the character of uncle clifford
01:49this non-binary gender fluid hustler like we never get an opportunity to see uncle clifford's on tv and
01:56like the fact that uncle clifford gonna be in people's living rooms is like mind-blowing to me and
02:02i'm like just so ready to see how the world um reacts to that character as well
