Here are the must-see moments from this week’s ‘SNL,’ including Chance the Rapper’s Obama-inspired '90s R&B Ballad to taking on the accusations against Al Franken.
Transcript
00:00Thursday is Thanksgiving, and there's so much to be thankful for this year, unless you're a human woman.
00:05The throwbacks were everywhere on this week's Saturday Night Live.
00:09Host Chance the Rapper brought back 90s R&B to beg for another Barack Obama term.
00:13Eminem and Skylar Grey resurrected a little collusion.
00:16But many tuned in Saturday to see how the series would take on former SNL star turned Minnesota Senator Al Franken,
00:22who was accused last week of groping a TV host and kissing her without her consent.
00:26Turns out they left that job to Weekend Update, which is where we begin as we take a look
00:30at the must-see moments from this week's SNL.
00:32After co-host Colin Jost opened with his Thanksgiving joke about the sexual harassment
00:36and assault allegations sweeping Hollywood and the political world, he drilled down on Franken.
00:41And he specifically referenced the photo posted by radio host Leigh-Anne Tweedon,
00:44who claimed that Franken groped her breasts while she was sleeping on their flight back from a USO tour.
00:49I know this photo looks bad, but remember, it also is bad.
00:53Meanwhile, co-host Michael Che pointed out how President Donald Trump went after Franken on Twitter
00:57but has stayed mostly silent on Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore,
01:01who's been accused of sexual misconduct toward women in their teens.
01:04And according to Che, that's because…
01:06Franken is a liberal and Trump and Moore are conservatives.
01:09And in this country, everybody has to pick a side.
01:11Except for me, I think they're all bitches.
01:13Che went on to say he doesn't know which side he would even be on if he had to pick,
01:16as he seems to be struggling a bit with his political identity.
01:19Maybe I'm liberal because I do live in a gay neighborhood.
01:22But then, maybe I'm conservative because I never want to live in a black neighborhood again.
01:26Host Chance the Rapper, however, did pick a side in a sketch dedicated to former President Barack Obama.
01:31Chance joined cast members Chris Redd and Kenan Thompson to wear early 90s fashion
01:35and sing a boys-to-men-style R&B ballad called Come Back, Barak.
01:39I feel like we're all gonna die, so come back, Barak.
01:44The trio, fearing an upcoming war, sang,
01:47things are bad, like really bad, like nuclear bad.
01:50And they didn't have much hope for the 2020 election either.
01:532020's looking sad.
01:55Maybe Michelle could run.
01:56Another huge musical moment this week came courtesy of Eminem,
01:59who presented a lengthy medley with Skylar Grey instead of performing the traditional two separate times.
02:04Fittingly, the duo started with the new song, Walk on Water,
02:07with Grey providing guest vocals for the track in place of Beyonce.
02:09I walk on water.
02:13The two then seamlessly transitioned into a pair of throwbacks.
02:16They ended with Grey subbing for Rihanna on Love the Way You Lie,
02:19but in between, the duo thrilled fans by bringing back the classic Stan from 2000's The Marshall Mathers LP.
02:28And we end where the show began this week, with a tale from The Muller Files,
02:34a riff on Robert Muller, who was heading the Special Council investigating possible Russian collusion
02:38in the 2016 election.
02:41In a reenactment of events that may or may not have taken place during the election,
02:44Kate McKinnon, wearing a white beard and leather jacket,
02:47impersonated WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to meet with Mikey Day's Donald Trump Jr.
02:51in an abandoned parking garage.
02:53Trump Jr. asked for dirt on Hillary Clinton,
02:55while Assange requested to be cleared of all espionage charges.
02:58But first, they had to set some ground rules.
03:00I trust you came along?
03:02My brother Eric is waiting in the car.
03:04I told him to honk the horn if he gets scared.
03:07The horn, of course, did eventually get blasted,
03:09and Alex Moffat's Eric joined the meeting.
03:11He looks like Draco Malfoy.
03:14What did we say about making fun of people's appearances, bud?
03:17That's Dad's thing?
03:18Oh, Eric.
03:19And by the way, two points to Slytherin for the Harry Potter reference.
