00:00See you, Dollywood! Dolly Parton is headed to Netflix. The streaming giant has picked up an eight-episode
00:06scripted anthology based on the iconic country star songs. Netflix seems to be taking a page
00:10from NBC's playbook with the series. The broadcast network aired two TV movies based on the Parton
00:15song titled Code of Many Colors and its sequel, Code of Many Colors, Circle of Love.
00:20This is for you. You making me a baby blanket? I'm making you a coat. A new coat just for me?
00:26The untitled Parton anthology at Netflix will see each episode based on a song by the country icon.
00:31Parton will serve as singer-songwriter, executive producer and will also appear in the series.
00:36And, like the two NBC movies, the Netflix anthology is also produced by Warner Bros. Television.
00:41Sam Haskell, who oversaw both NBC TV movies, is said to be involved as well.
00:45Parton said,
00:46Back in January 2015, NBC announced that Parton would be the center of a movie series.
01:07It was to feature a series of TV movies based on Parton's songs, stories and her life.
01:12Code of Many Colors, which is based on Parton's song of the same name, was the first to come
01:16from the venture and launched in December 2015 to an impressive 13 million total viewers
01:22and a 1.8 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, marking the biggest viewership
01:27for any TV movie on the broadcast networks since 2012.
01:30The sequel debuted a year later and collected 11.5 million total viewers and a 1.7 in the demo.
01:37Olivia Allen Lind starred as young Parton in both. In August 2015, executive producer Haskell
01:43announced that Parton's hit song Jolene would be the third TV movie in the NBC series,
01:47but Jolene did not move forward.
