Netflix is getting a lot more musical.

00:00Bradley Cooper is headed to Netflix.

00:03The streamer is about to get a lot more musical after landing the Bradley Cooper

00:07fronted Leonard Bernstein movie that was previously set up at Paramount.

00:11The movie will act as Cooper's directorial follow-up to A Star is Born, with the

00:14actor also having co-written the screenplay. The feature is set to span over 30 years,

00:19telling the beautifully complex story of the marriage between the legendary

00:23composer and his wife. Cooper has been working closely with Bernstein's children

00:26for the project for the past two years and has secured the rights from the Bernstein estate.

00:30There was initially a rival Bernstein project, The American, that was set to star

00:35Jake Gyllenhaal, but Cooper's pick secured the life rights from the estate.

00:38And there's big names backing this film with Martin Scorsese reteaming with his

00:42The Irishman studio and producing with Steven Spielberg, Cooper and Todd Phillips, among others.

00:47The feature is expected to begin production early next year with Netflix planning a

00:51theatrical release, timing it perfectly with the movie's awards hopeful status.
