00:00the nfl's mvp award coming into this season was supposed to be josh allen pat mahomes
00:08lamar jackson maybe joe burrow only one of them even made the finalist quite frankly
00:16and i i don't know it's like really josh mvp this year i didn't really i didn't see it that way but
00:23hey listen you know getting a top five spot is fine we know this award comes down to staff
00:29and drake may we know we know that it is going to be one of those two guys and the odds have led us
00:35to believe it is going to be matthew stafford so i guess the appropriate question is who do you think
00:43is deserving of mvp this year i i i still think you know drake may is deserving to a certain capacity
00:55i know we didn't perform in the playoffs but we're talking about a second year guy and we're
01:00talking you know i i look at perception and i look at where the team was at the start of the year yeah
01:05and i look at what was the expectation of this team and then did the player performer live up to
01:12or beyond expectations yeah and when you look at stafford to your point they were thought of as
01:19being especially when philadelphia struggled early on that they were the best team with green bay
01:27to potentially get to the super bowl yeah and he rolls up numbers but then you get to the last half
01:34of the season when the real season is on the line and he doesn't pull out those marquee wins
01:40and on the flip side you have drake may and this team that had an eight and a half win total at the
01:45start of the year and they they won on the road they were nine and oh in road environments
01:51and i'm just saying i'm playing devil's advocate if i was looking at this body of work would i give
01:58it just hands down to stafford no i would much rather give it to sam donald than i would like staff
02:04give it to stafford that's just come on i'm just see i'm saying yeah i would donald i'm just saying
02:12but i i see so for me it's not just about statistics it can't just be about statistics
02:19it's it's got to be the intangible it's got to be you know we gave it to josh allen last year
02:26and it wasn't based just solely off statistics okay it was that josh was over exceeding expectations
02:32and with a limited roster still took that team on his shoulders and brought them to an afc championship
02:38ultimately you and i did broke it down the more had better statistics why did we give it to josh
02:45allen last year because he clearly was the most valuable player to that organization yeah i think
02:52josh won it because they won josh had been in the driver's seat a month and he's always in the
03:00discussion let's be honest well i listen i actually so to open that box a little bit i think josh won it
03:06somewhat due to the dew factor and lamar had won right two already and he had won the year before
03:13with the number one seed and got knocked out and yes and had won you know again the year prior
03:19probably when if he shouldn't have won no but he went but he but again the year he was again not the
03:27not a season ago two seasons where he won mvp he shouldn't have won but let me yeah god but so
03:32then for josh josh had a better record okay right right but was a two seed again the one seed
03:39quarterback was not very good that was pat mahomes josh also you mentioned like oh it's not about the
03:44statistics but like yeah it also is it 40 total touchdowns like the rushing touchdowns make a big
03:49difference and he does get that look who's around him boost right because laurice derrick henry and josh
03:57james cook was not the nfl's rushing leader this year but what's interesting joe is
04:04we have not really heard the look who's around stafford stuff the only people who i feel have
04:13poked holes in stafford winning mvp are people who are are from boston people from massachusetts
04:19who have been angry that their guy is not going to win it i feel as if this has just been
04:25you know what i think it kind of somewhat boils down to josh allen lamar jackson even mahomes to
04:33an extent joe burrow these guys are fighting for their legacies currently may is a little bit
04:39before he's a younger guy right and stafford's a little bit over the hill so it's like everybody's
04:44being nice
04:44being nice
