00:01Every day of the week, all around the world,
00:04police officers are pitting themselves against criminals
00:07in a battle to uphold the law.
00:11It's a job which brings them face to face with danger.
00:16Whether it's tackling armed suspects.
00:22Chasing wanted fugitives.
00:26Or breaking up violence.
00:30In this series, you're about to witness
00:32some of the most extreme policing ever caught on camera.
00:36Requesting help. Officer needs help. Shots fired.
00:40Tonight...
00:43Suspects get trapped.
00:47They get tracked.
00:48Very high speed, overtaking vehicles.
00:51He's almost declined now.
00:54And they get banged up.
00:56He's gonna pop out, so get ready.
00:58Right, right, right, now.
01:01With cameras on cops in every corner of the globe,
01:06this is Frontline Police 24-7.
01:15Being an officer of the law isn't all about locking up the bad guys.
01:19You got any weapons on you?
01:20These public servants are also there to protect life.
01:28And when there's a fire...
01:30Get him out!
01:32They can sometimes find themselves first on the scene.
01:35Is this a house?
01:36London.
01:37And a fire is threatening to swallow up a row of houses.
01:38This officer is desperate to make sure nobody is inside, and begins forcing the front door.
01:52But it won't budge.
01:54While expert Kit arrives, the officer asks a member of the public to help.
01:59Knock on all the doors of the houses.
02:01Get people to go.
02:03Anyone in here?
02:05Once inside, it's a race to check each room, and warn the occupants of the dangers.
02:09Get out!
02:10Get out!
02:15Anyone in here?
02:17Out!
02:18Out of the house now!
02:20Who else is in here?
02:21Out!
02:22Everybody out!
02:24But the smoke that's gathering is making it difficult.
02:29Get out!
02:31Get out!
02:33Get out!
02:34Get out!
02:36These officers know that lives are at stake, and neighbouring houses could be affected too.
02:41Keep going, man. Keep going.
02:43Good effort, guys. Go on, go on. Kick in.
02:46Hit it again.
02:47Hit it again.
02:49Come on, quickly, quickly.
02:52Check all the rooms, check all the rooms.
02:54Right, next house, guys.
02:55Next house.
02:58Come on, guys.
02:59Stay calm, stay calm.
03:01Stay calm.
03:02Anyone in here?
03:05Guys.
03:06Let's go, come on.
03:08Let's go. No time to get anything.
03:10Let's just get out of here, yeah?
03:12To the right!
03:14Thankfully, with his quick thinking, this officer has ensured everyone is a safe distance away
03:19as fire crews arrive to deal with the blaze.
03:22When a fugitive takes off in a vehicle, it requires quick thinking and often some quick driving for police to find them and bring them to a stop.
03:41All right, guys. You got traffic coming. Be careful. Be careful.
03:45But helping the officers on the ground is the police helicopter.
03:49It's a 31 northbound on 5.
03:51Who can follow the pursuit wherever it goes.
03:54Florida. And the chopper has been called to help a pursuit in progress.
04:06Air One's got visual. We're coming around and we are recording.
04:10Air One, you got him?
04:12Yeah, we got him.
04:14The target vehicle is easy to spot. It's the one driving much faster than anything else.
04:19And he's probably about a mile, maybe two miles away from 44 overpass.
04:24He's on the inside lane. Very simple.
04:27Car One, everybody off the air. Accept Air One. Air One's got him.
04:32He's coming up under Orange Camp right now.
04:39He's riding the inside shoulder. Passing everybody.
04:42At speeds nearing 100 miles per hour, this car is acting like he owns the road.
04:49He's all over the place. Inside, outside. He's inside now.
04:54Yeah, he's kind of in the open now, but he's doing double traffic speed, so.
05:00Police units know that reckless driving at high speed could end in tragedy for this driver and other road users.
05:06So stopping him safely is a priority.
05:11Coming up to the exit. Yeah, you got a bunch of cars in front of you.
05:15But this fugitive has no care and almost loses control as he speeds along.
05:21Up ahead, police units are waiting under a bridge with a stinger device.
05:26OK, he's about to hit you. He's coming up underneath the Saxon exit. That's him right there, centre lane.
05:29But the driver spots the cops and swerves to avoid them.
05:38The threat of police stopping him has done nothing to contain this driver, who's still speeding around the other traffic.
05:45Still continuing. What's that?
05:47Air One, what's the traffic condition?
05:50It's like, probably medium to heavy. Not backed up at all.
05:54What's the vehicle speed? Decimated?
05:58Yeah, we're doing 100. We're pretty much keeping pace.
06:03The driver narrowly misses another vehicle and decides it's time to take the pursuit off the highway.
06:11OK, he's passing the Dirksen. Standby.
06:16He's getting up at Dirksen. Getting up at Dirksen.
06:25He's going to be westbound. Westbound towards 17.
06:31But these slower roads aren't suited to this speeding driver.
06:37Driver, driver, driver, driver.
06:39Driver crash.
06:40And at a junction, he plows into another vehicle.
06:45Driver crash, driver crash.
06:49Yeah, signal four. Signal four right there. We've got three bailing. Three bailing. All heading northbound.
06:56The three occupants are on foot and now need to work out a new escape plan.
07:00All right, K9's on the way. You just get there to start setting up from perimeter to the north.
07:06But all they can do is run.
07:11OK, we got two down and I got one running.
07:14Black male, black shorts, red stripe.
07:18Looks like a grey or a white hoodie with a black stripe going lateral across the back.
07:26He's in trees. I no longer have visual.
07:28The force helicopter is able to direct ground units to exactly where the fugitive was last seen.
07:36Right there. Stop, stop. He's out your right-hand door.
07:39Those two units that just pulled up.
07:41Behind you a little bit and out your right-hand door. In those woods.
07:45And then it's over to the highly trained police dog to find the suspect sent and follow it.
07:51K9, contact.
07:52K9, contact.
07:53K9, contact.
07:54K9, contact.
07:55K9, contact.
07:56K9, contact.
07:57K9, contact.
07:58K9, contact.
07:59Hi, we got him.
08:00Risk you for a dog right to the foot.
08:02Which takes officers straight to the wanted man and means he'll be going directly to jail.
08:08We got all three in custody, right?
08:11Correct.
08:13Couldn't be more proud of y'all. Great, great job.
08:18Coming up, an unusual getaway car gives police the run around.
08:22And a high-speed chase makes even the cops back off.
08:30Guys on the ground, let everyone just go with the guy. Let's don't push him. Traffic's pretty sick right now.
08:35That's a good thing for instance.
08:44When criminals plan out their crimes, they aim not to be caught.
08:48Making a left, making a U-turn.
08:51This can mean operating under the cover of darkness.
08:54It's like he's trying to scoot on into a horse trailer.
08:56Yep.
08:58Or taking extreme steps to escape.
09:01Oh shit.
09:03Back up, back up.
09:05For criminals on the run, a plan might be to use a vehicle that doesn't stand out and isn't easy to spot.
09:14Unlike these.
09:20In the Czech Republic, cops are hunting for a wanted man, believed to be driving a distinctive yellow van.
09:26And they found him.
09:31This hapless suspect didn't think that his gleaming motor might be easy for the cops to identify.
09:38Nevertheless, he's keen to get away, mounting curbs and narrowly missing pedestrians.
09:50When cops close in, the driver sneaks into a side road.
09:53But there's no hiding his van.
09:57And cops swoop to make an arrest.
10:08Atlanta.
10:09And a large delivery truck is being stopped by the side of the highway.
10:13Three patrol cars are on scene.
10:15They believe it's just been involved in a robbery.
10:18But despite several weapons pointed at the van, the driver decides to race off.
10:33With the van not ideally suited to high speeds, the cops soon catch up.
10:47But stopping him won't be so easy.
10:48A patrol car up ahead has held traffic to try and keep other road users safe and provide a clear path for the chase to go through.
11:04And into the open road, the speed increases.
11:21Another unit parked up ahead has deployed a stinger to deflate the van's tyres.
11:25And its dash cam captures the moment the convoy pulls past.
11:34The truck is now damaged with its tyres punctured.
11:38And as the chase slows, its front wheel comes free.
11:40But still this driver refuses to give up.
11:54And at the next junction, he tries to throw the chasing officers off his tail.
11:58These officers are growing frustrated.
12:13And one decides to try and force the pursuit to finish.
12:15But the driver keeps going.
12:33Off the highway, the van driver is still trying to drive at speed.
12:36And with one tyre down, the van lurches from side to side as he struggles to keep control.
12:54But this vehicle isn't designed to go off road.
12:57And this driver isn't going to get far on foot.
12:59Several officers cornered the man and used a taser to make sure he can't run free.
13:14It's an arrest which has delighted onlookers.
13:19And the man was later charged with drug and driving related offences.
13:30Often, police officers are called while a crime is being committed.
13:41They need to respond quickly.
13:45Be ready to arrive on scene and deal with whatever they face.
13:52In Kentucky, there's reports of a man committing a robbery at a discount store.
13:59These officers have arrived with the suspect still inside.
14:09And while two guard the front door, this officer diverts some onlookers.
14:14Here, you can leave. You can leave.
14:16And then takes up a position at the back of the store.
14:20What about the back? You got the back? The back?
14:23And the officer's hunch was right. The suspected robber emerges from the back doors, right in front of the officer, who fires his gun twice.
14:35The man was found to be carrying a shotgun and was charged with armed robbery.
14:48Got one shot and lead possibly. Start EMS. Toll three. There are guns over there.
15:01In Forsyth County, cops are lying in wait for a speeding motorist.
15:05This silver car has the road to itself, but two police units want to put a stop to this high-speed chase before anyone gets hurt.
15:15But they're struggling to close the vehicle down at speeds of over 90 miles per hour.
15:21But as cops do close in, the driver swerves to his left and the officer attempts a pit manoeuvre, spinning the car and bringing it to a stop.
15:46This driver chooses not to run, and just takes a seat on the officer's bonnet.
15:57In Australia, cops can face the same challenges as everywhere else.
16:03Here, they're on the trail of a suspect driving a white pickup truck.
16:09Unaware he's being watched from above, the driver is tampering with his license plate.
16:14Looks like he's doing something with another plate.
16:17So it might have been a fuel drive off, actually.
16:19So I just changed it in the rear plates.
16:23And then he drives off.
16:25He's off and rolling.
16:26Perhaps thinking he's in the clear.
16:31Our vehicle's on the move again.
16:35So southbound onto the front.
16:37Yeah, that's him, guys. If you're in the blue unmarked.
16:44That's the white dual cab in front of you.
16:46He's just turning right now.
16:48But an unmarked police car is behind him.
16:52And with the helicopter above, he's no chance of getting away.
16:55Yeah, he's just south through Morley now.
16:58It's a white dual cab ute.
17:00With a silver train.
17:02He's got the unmarked car following behind it.
17:05Two cabs back.
17:07Still going slow speed westbound.
17:11Looks like it's going to stop.
17:14And he appears to realise the game is up.
17:17He's failing to stop for them.
17:19But then he takes off.
17:20One on foot, one on foot.
17:23Heading westbound down the driveway off Waddle.
17:31Waddle.
17:33He's in the rear yard.
17:34He's going to come out in the next one.
17:35So that police car, keep going.
17:36Keep going to the next street.
17:38This runaway thinks he's escaping.
17:41But quick thinking from the helicopter brings another unit to cut him off.
17:45First driveway.
17:46Yeah, next driveway on your right.
17:47He's going to pop out.
17:48So get ready.
17:49Right now.
17:53And it's an old fashioned rugby tackle that stops this fugitive in his tracks.
17:58One in custody of a car in New York.
18:00And just having a wrestle now.
18:04Helicopters are again leading the commentary in the United States.
18:08Where officers are chasing this red vehicle.
18:11I'm in white with sticks.
18:13But he's got no plans to hang around.
18:15All right.
18:16He's 12F now.
18:17Westbound Mason.
18:18Pass me forward.
18:20All right.
18:21Almost signal fourth.
18:22Swipe the car.
18:24Narrowly missing other vehicles, this driver is determined not to be caught.
18:28Very high speed overtaking vehicles.
18:31He's almost to Clyde now.
18:33This is now dangerously high speed.
18:35It doesn't take an expert to spot the fugitive amongst the other cars.
18:38Guys on the ground.
18:39Let everyone just go with the guy.
18:41Let's don't push him.
18:42Traffic is pretty thick right now.
18:44Yeah, brown two red lights.
18:46Almost T-boned.
18:47Hit a van.
18:48All right.
18:49He's still rolling south on Clyde now.
18:51Did he crash?
18:52No.
18:53It was a very minor bump.
18:54He's south on Clyde.
18:55High rate.
18:56Stay tuned.
18:57Entire.
18:58Sheriff Air 1.
18:59Clear for the option.
19:00Number two.
19:01Seven right.
19:02Six with three on me.
19:03Entire Air 1 is going to be north and seven left at all times for right now.
19:08As the car arrives at some road works, he has to slam on the brakes.
19:12He's in the construction zone.
19:15Park 95 south of Pebble now.
19:17Taking out cones.
19:21And further up the road, the driver hits traffic.
19:24They're going to be stuck in traffic up here.
19:26Going in the grass in the median.
19:28Overtaking vehicles.
19:29And takes to the verge before speeding across a junction.
19:36Still eastbound.
19:37All right.
19:38He just skinted his tires pretty good on the curb.
19:39Smoke came up.
19:40This driver's reckless attitude has meant even the cops are taking a step back.
19:51Not willing to risk more lives by chasing him.
19:54But that's where the helicopter comes into its own.
19:57All right.
19:58Turn north on Swallowtail.
20:00They've been able to track this car all the way to its destination.
20:04And follow the driver as he gets out.
20:06I'm not sure what he's doing.
20:07He's standing in between two cars now.
20:09He may have dumped something between two cars.
20:12He's got a bag in his hand.
20:14He's running through the apartment complex.
20:17But in this maze of trees and buildings, the suspect makes a good getaway.
20:22I've lost him in these trees up Dunlott.
20:24I'm not sure where he's at.
20:28When cops searched the car, they found a stolen handgun, heroin, cash, and a number of cell phones.
20:35Although the driver escaped, his drug running was dealt a huge blow.
20:43Coming up.
20:44Started that way toward the main road.
20:46OK.
20:47One citizen talks their own way into trouble.
20:49If it is, then you are around here stealing.
20:52I will do everything in my power to put you in jail as long as possible.
20:55And a car chase goes wrong for this pair of hapless crooks.
21:00The driver, actually the driver, they're getting back into the vehicle now.
21:04There they are.
21:05There they are.
21:14While police work might require officers to be brave and make life or death decisions.
21:19We got him. Pull, pull, pull. We got him. We got him.
21:22I'll do.
21:23Officers also need to be excellent communicators and have extreme patience.
21:27Listen, we got to figure this out, but you got to stop the badge.
21:31Because occasionally, they come up against someone who won't listen or respect the badge.
21:37Step out.
21:38No.
21:39We're beyond that. Step out.
21:40Stop.
21:44In Oregon, police have stopped this woman for riding her bike the wrong way along the road.
21:51It should be a simple stop, but the woman is politely refusing to tell officers who she is.
21:58We are going through it politely, but you're not complying with a lawful order.
22:02No, I think I just asked for you to provide me information on that order.
22:07And you haven't provided me information and you're taking that as me not following the order.
22:12All I'm asking is for you to maybe pull up the website or show me the legislation that says that I have to provide my information in this case.
22:20The female wants some proof that she needs to give her ID.
22:23Okay.
22:252424, can you get a CPD unit to roll by my location?
22:29Jackson, I think I'm on 16th or 17th.
22:32While she's not aggressive, she isn't complying.
22:37So the officer calls for some backup.
22:39Perhaps he can sense the discussions may escalate.
22:422424, they can come code one.
22:45This is not an emergency situation.
22:50Do you know how long it'll take for you to come by?
22:53I don't know. I just asked for when you heard.
22:56No, I know, but did they do give an ETA or do you have an estimate?
22:58They haven't given me an ETA, no?
23:01The cyclist seems keen to get on her way, but still won't tell the officer who she is.
23:06He suspects that may be because she's wanted.
23:09I already told you, you could be rolling down the road by now if you were cooperative.
23:12I am cooperative. I think I'm just asking for information.
23:15You're not cooperative.
23:16But that's...
23:17I don't think it's an cooperative task for information.
23:20Oh.
23:23The cyclist is claiming she knows the law better than the officer.
23:27No, here he is.
23:29Just then, a second unit arrives, and the officer explains the situation.
23:34Hello. I'm well.
23:36So I'm out with this citizen on a bicycle stop, but I don't know the citizen's name to tell you because the citizen won't tell me their name.
23:43I stopped them for a simple violation, riding the wrong way on the roadway.
23:46I said that if she failed to comply, I could arrest her for obstructing a police officer, obstructing governmental justice.
23:55Is it just for you to know my information in order to educate me on the law?
23:59What effect do you stop this?
24:01Yes, it is. It's required. It's required of you, and it's required of me by my boss.
24:06In any case, I am just asking for some information before I provide my own.
24:11I want to see legislation or some book saying that I have to give my information.
24:14It's not that I'm not being compliant, and it's not that I'm not respecting authority, which I don't.
24:21You're not being compliant, you're being passive resistance.
24:25I don't think this is passive resistance. All I'm asking is for you to provide me information, and you're willing to do so.
24:30So I don't feel like I have to provide my information.
24:33So Oregon defines bicycles as a vehicle.
24:37Most states do.
24:39So do I need a license to be riding this bicycle?
24:40You do not. But they still, in law, define it as a vehicle when it's ridden on the roadway, which it was.
24:46And that means you have to apply by the vehicle laws.
24:49You and I have a difference of even violating the rule. I'm arguing...
24:52Right. And that's why we have court. Like the other officers suggested, that's why we have court.
24:56More than 15 minutes after the stop, the cyclist is still claiming she's in the right and the officer is wrong.
25:04I no longer wish to give you a warning. So now I need your identification to give you a citation, because that's what I intend to do.
25:09I don't feel comfortable giving you my information.
25:12I understand that. There will be consequences if you make that choice.
25:16And do you have ruling or anything that will show me these consequences, other than your verbal affirmations?
25:22Yeah.
25:24Well, can I please see those?
25:25This officer has heard enough. He plans to give the cyclist a charge. And if she refuses to identify herself, she'll be arrested.
25:35Your lack of cooperation has made it clear to me that a warning will not suffice to change your behavior.
25:41Can you define what not cooperation is?
25:44He said it best, passive resistance, which is what you're giving you.
25:46So can you define passive resistance for me a little bit better?
25:49What you're doing is the dictionary definition.
25:50So passive resistance is me articulating my...
25:54No, it's arguing with me when I've given you a lawful order and you've refused to comply with it.
25:59Here's where it's at right now.
26:01You have an opportunity at this moment to give me your identification and you can have a citation and you can leave.
26:08If you fail to do that, I'm going to arrest you at this point. Do you understand what I'm saying?
26:12I would like to have some more clarification.
26:15There's not going to be more clarification. I need a yes or a no from...
26:17I need you to either give me your identification now or you're going to be placed under arrest.
26:22Which do you want to do?
26:23I don't answer questions.
26:24Okay, you're under arrest.
26:25I don't answer questions.
26:26Stop!
26:27Stop!
26:28As the two officers grab her wrists, the crowd that's gathered argue that she should be let go.
26:33831, send us more.
26:35Stop. Hey, stop. She's...
26:37Get back now!
26:38She's not complaining.
26:40But these officers take the law seriously and this cyclist has talked her way into an arrest.
26:46They say I'm resisting. I'm not moving.
26:48Just stay still. You're fine. Stay still.
26:53Quite an achievement for someone who claims they don't answer questions.
26:59The woman was later taken to a police station and charged with interfering with an officer.
27:04I still don't know who she is. I'm going to get my gloves on and dig in there.
27:08There was a period of time where I thought maybe she was trying to conceal her ID because she's somebody who's wanted.
27:14But now I'm just thinking she just doesn't believe in any kind of rules, apparently.
27:19That's what I thought at first, too.
27:20She wasn't found to be wanted.
27:23And a judge found there was no need for the woman to hand over her license.
27:28And all charges were dropped.
27:31But she's not the only person to talk their way into the attention of a police officer.
27:35Florida. And a report has come in of a suspicious man possibly trying to steal vehicles.
27:46As officers arrive, there's a witness who says he chased the man away.
27:50Are y'all all family?
27:52I don't know.
27:54Actually, the guy went around me.
27:56Okay.
27:57Who are you?
27:59No, no, no, no.
28:01I stopped them three times.
28:02They went around the block.
28:03I told them when the guy went around the block.
28:05And then they came back and I was darting them down like this.
28:08Okay. Did you see the guy on this bike here?
28:10The guy was on the bike, come around the corner like this, stopped like this.
28:14Kind of shucked me like that.
28:16And then darted that way toward the main road.
28:18Okay.
28:20The man says the suspicious man cycled away.
28:23But while cops check out the report, the man keeps on talking.
28:27Some kind of like a hoodie on.
28:30And long ass brown pants.
28:33I was trying to flag him down.
28:34Did you know this guy?
28:36I don't know, sir.
28:37Actually, I've seen him.
28:39But I just moved in the area.
28:40I just went through the door so I don't know him good.
28:43But I know of him.
28:44Does that make any sense?
28:46There's a certain house I can tell you I've seen him at.
28:47I don't know if he lives there, but I can tell you where I've seen him.
28:51The man seems almost too keen to describe the suspect.
28:55And cops are getting suspicious.
28:57Okay.
28:59So your fingerprints won't be on that vehicle, correct?
29:02My fingerprint, maybe the sweater, because I just accidentally picked it up.
29:05It might have like two of them.
29:07But you can check it, whatever you want.
29:09Okay.
29:10I flagged him down three times.
29:11I have no reason to like you.
29:12Okay.
29:14Officers suspect the ever so helpful witness is the attempted car thief.
29:18I'm not accusing you of anything.
29:19I know, I'm just being honest.
29:21I just want to rule you out.
29:22That's all.
29:24The bike ended up ditched here.
29:26But he told me that he took off on the bike on Deltona Boulevard.
29:30He was here at this intersection the entire time.
29:32He didn't see him ditch the bike.
29:33He said, I'll take off on the bike.
29:35Okay.
29:36But the bike is here.
29:38There's a bike light.
29:39It was in his back pocket.
29:40The man claimed the suspect had cycled away from the scene.
29:43But now officers have found the bike just across the street.
29:47I'm not going to write to you and tell you I've never had a run or was lost.
29:49So, I mean, I understand how the game works.
29:52Yep.
29:53If it is and you are around here stealing, I don't play and I will do everything in my power to put you in jail as long as possible.
30:01And a few days later, tests from the lab find this man's fingerprints all over the car.
30:06It seems he was trying to throw police off the scent, but his efforts were only temporary.
30:13And a warrant is issued for the man's arrest.
30:24In rainy Ohio, cops are chasing a speeding motorist who is racing towards a built-up part of town.
30:30You need to get those people out of there. He's coming in hot into that 31 area.
30:36With no other traffic on this stretch, cops decide to intervene quickly and aggressively.
30:44A pit manoeuvre is attempted, where cops nudge the back corner of the suspect car to send it spinning.
30:50But it's not hard enough, and the car races off.
31:02Further up the road, this officer won't make the same mistake again.
31:05And as he nudges the suspect's car, it spins out of control, stopping on its side.
31:14A patrolman smashes the rear windscreen.
31:17And two suspects gingerly make their way out and are arrested.
31:28Some suspected robbers are trying to escape the attentions of police in this dark vehicle.
31:40Air 1 central coming out of scene, got a visual.
31:45Inside lane, through the red light, continuing eastbound on 44 towards the beach side.
31:51No traffic in front of them. Still eastbound, no units behind them.
31:57Cops are following at a distance, but it's the police helicopter which is tracking their every move
32:03and giving a running commentary to the cops on the ground.
32:06Going to be turning eastbound right here towards the beach on Hill.
32:11Hill Street. Then south on Hill Street.
32:14These fugitives have headed towards the beach, possibly hoping to blend in on foot.
32:20Bail out, bail out. At 1705 South Atlantic.
32:27Driver, black male, white shirt, bag in his hand, running towards the beach.
32:32Running towards the beach, black male, white shirt, black shorts.
32:361707 South Atlantic.
32:401707 South Atlantic. Running south. Looks like a condo. Yellow.
32:44But the helicopter has kept an eye and is directing ground units to exactly where the suspect is hiding.
32:50Okay, the two walking on the beach. If you look to your right. Keep coming a little more to the west.
32:57He's in the bushes to your right. Right at your, uh, you can probably see him. Right behind the generator.
33:05I don't know where you are and I'm not going to leave him. Uh, generator. Go to your right. Go to the west. Go to the west. Along the condo there. You'll run into the generator and he's behind it.
33:24Secured. This one's secure.
33:30Within minutes of this driver thinking he'd made an escape, the law has caught up and he's led off to be questioned at the station.
33:37Some criminals, when trying to evade the law, like to get as far away as quickly as possible.
33:51But the occupants of this car are less clear about their decisions.
33:58They've pulled up to a house, but with nobody home, they quickly backtrack and hit the road again.
34:06The driver, actually the driver are getting back into the vehicle now.
34:10As several units arrive, this looks like game over, but the fugitives refuse to give up.
34:15It's pulling out.
34:19Oh, just signal forward.
34:22He has rammed the patrol car.
34:26Get on it Brian.
34:28Okay, go ahead and back to San Antonio.
34:30If they can't see it then they have problems.
34:33All right, no balance score.
34:36Oh no, he almost went off the road there. He's actually off the road.
34:41A few blocks away, these fugitives change their plans again.
34:47Passenger's getting out. Both of them are getting out.
34:50Deciding to run through the backyards of some houses.
34:53They're both coming east, towards 600 block.
34:58Which way do they go?
35:00They're going northeast of that backyard.
35:02I lost them for a second.
35:03Okay, go to this back. Yeah, they're in that backyard right there.
35:07There he is.
35:08I don't know where the other one is though.
35:14Okay, I'm just trying to figure out where you're at.
35:18Just north of 120 MLK.
35:21There's like an industrial building. He's back there right now.
35:24So they got one. So the other one's right around here somewhere.
35:29Corner of Magnolia.
35:32And I believe Jesse.
35:34Okay, you got the driver.
35:36Yeah, we have the driver over here.
35:38Canine units are on the chase and have cornered one of the suspects.
35:42While the helicopter has eyes on the other.
35:45Yep, there he is.
35:47And gets the bird's eye view of a second arrest.
35:49Awesome.
35:51Good job everybody.
35:55Coming up.
35:57It's a bad day at the office for these wannabe robbers.
36:05And we look back at some of the most extraordinary incidents captured on camera.
36:09Get out of the fucking car!
36:21Criminals are usually caught by the police.
36:24Lay down.
36:26Acting on intelligence or arriving at the scene to stop them in their tracks.
36:29Chopper's okay on it. Good job guys.
36:32Occasionally, it's members of the public who are on hand to catch a baddie and keep them until police arrive.
36:39But there are times when the criminals effectively catch themselves by committing a crime in a place they can't get out of.
36:47This would-be robber in Canada is determined to break into a mobile phone shop under the cover of darkness.
37:01And he doesn't think twice about wriggling under the security fence, which blocks the main door.
37:06But now, he has a problem. The man and his loot can't get back out. He tries going under. And he tries going over.
37:26But the only thing this thief can do is wait until morning, when the police arrive to pick him up.
37:46In the US, these two robbers are holding up another mobile phone shop.
37:50And after threatening the store worker with a weapon, they raid the tills.
37:59The worker has escaped and left the front door locked.
38:10No amount of prizing the door will get it open.
38:13And now a crowd has gathered to watch.
38:36And no matter how much this pair plea for help, they aren't getting out.
38:39I can't get you out of here!
38:47This pair were later arrested for robbery.
38:55It's a familiar story for this youth too.
38:58Hey!
39:00Open your hand.
39:02Open your hand.
39:04No, don't open.
39:05Open.
39:06Open.
39:07Open, open.
39:09No.
39:13As he walks into Robber's shop, the customers make a quick getaway.
39:14But one of them has the idea of locking the front door.
39:15This crook is trapped inside.
39:20This crook is trapped inside and so he decides to use his handgun to try and blast the way
39:37out. When that fails, he tries a bit of brute force and with no options left, the man takes
40:05to pleading forgiveness.
40:32But his words fall on deaf ears as police arrive to take him to a more suitable cell.
40:37Get your hands up! On the ground! On the ground! On the ground! On the ground!
40:44But this isn't a problem unique to the United States. In London, three men are breaking into a jewellery store. One has the job of ensuring the door doesn't shut and automatically lock.
41:03But he's not excelling at his role. With the terrified shopkeeper overpowered, the three men empty the displays, but the man lets the door shut. And now they're locked in.
41:18One thief manages to open the door and lets himself out. But it slams shut again, trapping the other two inside.
41:33Now they've worked out the system, the man in blue goes to press the release button at the back of the shop.
41:40But his partner in crime then leaves without holding the door. And now just one is trapped. And he's not happy.
41:52It takes three attempts before the man finally breaks free.
42:13Across this series, we've seen police officers tackle all sorts of suspects.
42:19You be fair with me and I'll be fair with you. Step out. No. You're under arrest. No, I'm not.
42:25And bring dangerous incidents to a safe conclusion.
42:30They've been on the front line to track down suspected car thieves.
42:40Rescue innocent hostages.
42:42He's got a hostage.
42:44He's got a hostage.
42:45He's got a hostage.
42:48And arrest the most unlikely of armed attackers.
42:56Their body-worn cameras have shown us what it's like to chase a fugitive down.
43:01And their dash cams have shown us the dangers of policing the world's roads.
43:16From life-saving rescues, to dangerous near misses, we've seen the full range of policing.
43:32Take these guys with you.
43:33And thanks to these officers, countless lives have been saved.
43:39Pull, pull, pull. We got it. We got it.
43:42You okay?
43:43Dozens of criminals have been caught.
43:46Crimes have been solved or prevented.
43:49And the world has been made a safer place to live.
43:59And right now, all around the world, more officers are stepping up to join the front line.
44:05In the battle to uphold the law.
44:09Get out of the fucking car!
44:11Get out of the fucking car!
44:41You're welcome.
