00:00The government's effort to introduce the Online Safety Act 2025 has received positive
00:05feedback, particularly from parents who want the internet to be safer for children and
00:10teenagers.
00:12OnSci requires digital platform providers to moderate harmful content such as cyberbullying,
00:18sexual harassment and online scams.
00:21Those who fail to comply may face action from the government.
00:26Nurse Siti Noor Maliana Rashid said the responsibility should primarily lie with the digital platforms
00:31themselves.
00:32The platform must be responsible for the content that they upload.
00:40If we control the platform from the beginning, the internet is safe for our children.
00:47Meanwhile, municipal public worker Ramesh Rajan compared the OnSci to age-reading systems
00:53in the film industry.
00:54I feel that OnStar is really good because they will see, for example, the thing is
00:59that they don't know.
01:00When they go there, they will see it first and they will see it first.
01:04For example, like a country film, they will take it first.
01:07What they can see for 18 years at the top or 18 years at the bottom.
01:11So, it's the same.
01:13I feel that it's good to support OnStar.
01:16That's a great decision from government.
01:20So, that's what I do.
01:22So, they know what children are following, what children have done in the internet.
01:28However, retired civil servant Azwina Ahmad stressed that the real issue is enforcement,
01:34not the law itself.
01:36If we say that we want to do the acta, we must be aware that we need to do this
01:41so that the things that we don't want to do this can be handled well.
01:46So, if we can, we can help.
01:48If it's better from the government, it's better to help.
01:53OnStar was introduced by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission
01:59and passed in December 2024 to strengthen the country's digital safety governance,
02:04ensuring platforms are more accountable for online content.
02:09MCMC is also organizing a large-scale Internet Safety Day 2026 at the Tiwansal Lake on February 8th,
02:17aiming to strengthen parents' role in managing internet use
02:20while providing technical teams and experts to help visitors set up safety features on your devices.
