00:00Locked down the lead in the first race.
00:02Crowd came to life for him.
00:05See if he can replicate it as race two gets ready.
00:09Steve Francisco had that bad start of the Rockstar Husky.
00:12The first race was able to come through to sixth.
00:16And there's Deacon going to line up outside the box.
00:19Yeah, that's where he was on the first start.
00:23There's a couple things starting on the outside like that of the box.
00:26You get more distance in here.
00:30Between the guy next to you.
00:32So you have a little more room to move around.
00:35And also, it doesn't pinch off so much on the inside there to his left.
00:40And it allows those guys to sweep around and carry their speed.
00:43And hopefully make a move around the outside if they have to.
00:47So on the flip side of that, if you don't get a good jump on the outside like that.
00:52And your competitors to the left of you get a better jump.
00:54Then they kind of, they control your destiny.
00:57Yeah, the Kawasaki boys are lined up to his inside there.
01:00You see Kitchen and also McAdoo.
01:02And those are the riders second and third in the first race.
01:05So they would be the ones trying to prevent Deacon from getting a start in this one.
01:10Race two of 250 Triple Crown.
01:13That's why we love this format.
01:15They just keep on racking it up.
01:16It's already here.
01:18Love this shot right here.
01:20Overhead at the start.
01:23Being able to see everybody.
01:25See who gets the jump first.
01:26Here we go.
01:31Oh, Deacon rockets out.
01:33Will it be enough from the outside to control it?
01:37What a view.
01:37See, that's the thing.
01:38He pushed out a little bit.
01:40And that is a great example of that's what happens.
01:43You just come in with too much speed.
01:45Nothing you can do there.
01:46And if he would have had a better jump, he would have been able to close the door on those guys.
01:50He wouldn't have swung so wide.
01:52McAdoo over Kitchen.
01:53Kitchen looking to take the lead.
01:54A very aggressive move.
01:56And he gets it.
01:57Safe to say these Monster Energy Pro Circuit guys got their starts figured out.
02:03And Boland was third.
02:05Looks like a move made by Deacon.
02:07He gets a third.
02:08Oh, now Moseman is down.
02:11Say it's not so.
02:12He's okay, but, man, every time someone gets any momentum going besides Deacon in his championship,
02:18it goes away.
02:20Deacon attacking McAdoo.
02:22But he couldn't get those triples there.
02:24Oh, but Boland able to catch up because of it.
02:27And it's going to be interesting to watch.
02:29Deacon's how he handles this.
02:31Watch 23 on the left.
02:32Oh, he loses the front end.
02:36As he's turning, he starts to turn a little early.
02:39And when he does that, the front end just washes.
02:43Oh, that's costly.
02:44He is in 22nd place.
02:47Meanwhile, we finally saw what Kitchen could do not going down in turn one.
02:51Now we can see what he can do with a lead.
02:54Second in race one, leading race two.
02:56And these guys are motivated to hold Deacon back.
03:03Yeah.
03:04If there's anybody that they want to beat, I can assure you, it's the dude with number one on his plate.
03:10And it's going to be interesting to see, again, how Hayden handles these moves if he's able to pass these guys.
03:17Now, remember, he had a run-in with Cameron McAdoo at round one.
03:21Yep.
03:24I don't think McAdoo is too happy about that.
03:26Well, and we definitely know there's no love lost with the leader right now between him.
03:30So, is he going to be tactical?
03:34I think he will be.
03:36We will find out.
03:38These guys are doing a great job, though, of keeping them behind and riding really well.
03:43First lap sled of the season for Kitchen out front.
03:46JT, what are you thinking?
03:47Well, that's exactly what I'm wondering.
03:49What is Hayden Deacon thinking?
03:51Because, on one hand, you know, he's shown so much maturity in his race craft in Supercross, overcoming bad starts and getting to the front.
03:59As you see him make the move right there on Cameron McAdoo.
04:02But, as easy as I say that, he also kind of boasts this I don't lose mentality.
04:08Like, he is not the type of rider who's going to lay up at a triple crown and understand that it's okay to take a second here and that it's a three race overall.
04:16So, I would guess there's a little bit of an internal struggle going on with Hayden as he makes a critical mistake right there.
04:22Oh, look, he looks over his shoulder because he wasn't able to triple there.
04:28Anticipating maybe that Cameron would try to pass him back up the inside, but he's able to defend that position.
04:38Hustling right now.
04:39So, what, if you look at the left side, what you're seeing is, if it ended like this, Kitchen and Deacon would now be tied.
04:48They each have a win and a second.
04:50That'd be three points.
04:51And the win of the triple crown goes to the lowest score.
04:53Kind of like golf.
04:55Very early.
04:56But, right now, Kitchen where he wants to be.
04:59Be interesting to see these next couple laps.
05:01If Hayden's able to do anything with some clean air.
05:04If he's able to close the gap on Kitchen.
05:07Kitchen riding really well.
05:09All day long, especially that first race.
05:13A close second.
05:142.8 seconds to gap, R.C.
05:17Yeah.
05:18Love the composure that Hayden was showing early on.
05:21Not really panicking.
05:23Not riding over his limit.
05:28Well, that's the theory that J.T. threw out there.
05:31Obviously, patience and maturity helps.
05:33But you also mentioned the rivalry between these.
05:35Can Deacon really say, hey, second is good enough overall-wise?
05:42I mean, there's a little ego here.
05:44A little bit.
05:45Yeah, that's not really his style.
05:46Exactly.
05:47But, I tell you, we've seen him in championship battles before.
05:50He'll play the long game when needed.
05:53Kitchen added a little time.
05:55Yeah.
05:55Last lap around.
05:56He did.
05:59That's going to be very interesting to watch these next, maybe a lap or two,
06:03because we're already down to five minutes and a lap left.
06:05See right there, Hayden comes over that finish line.
06:07I believe he shifts two times, so he's in fourth gear going through those whoops.
06:14Next time he goes over the finish line, you guys can check it out.
06:17You'll see a quick shifting.
06:20His track definitely a lot ruddier than it was for these guys in their first race,
06:24so a little different.
06:25I expect Deegan, if he's going to make a move and a push for this race two win,
06:35it's going to start within the next lap or two.
06:38Otherwise, time is going to run out.
06:42Deegan looking to close.
06:45It was 3.1, now back to 2.6, so it's a battle of tents here back and forth
06:49between Kitchen and Deegan, so this is by far the best run.
06:53Well, Deegan grabbed some gears here, as you mentioned.
06:56I mean, going back to timing and scoring last lap,
07:00he was 6 tenths faster than Levi Kitchen, so he did make up some time there.
07:06That is a lot of time in one lap.
07:09Now they're starting to get into some lappers, too,
07:11and sometimes when you're the guy leading,
07:15you feel like you get hung up a little bit more
07:17because maybe the lappers aren't anticipating them coming so quick,
07:22and then they're aware once the leader comes by.
07:26They know that second, third, and fourth place are coming up through the pack,
07:29and they'll give way most of the time,
07:31especially if they're obeying the blue flag there.
07:33And it's Myers here.
07:35He's actually buddies with Kitchen off the track,
07:37and they're battling, and that is not helping at all.
07:40No, he's going to lose some time there.
07:42Again, he loses 5 tenths that lap,
07:45so now it's down to under two laps,
07:47and just that little slip when he kind of got cross right and exiting up,
07:52but then Hayden gets slowed down as well.
07:56Yeah, so it was 3.1, then it was 1.7.
07:59Now it's 1.9, but blood's in the water now.
08:03Yeah, look at it now.
08:04When you get that close, it's on.
08:07And Deegan over the finish in the first race,
08:12gave the finger guns to Kitchen, gave him the gotcha.
08:16So how will they play it when they get close?
08:18Because it looks like that's inevitable now.
08:21JT.
08:22I'm just fascinated by this battle,
08:24because it's one thing to battle with somebody
08:26that you have a lot of respect for,
08:28a la Chase Saxon and Ken Rockson in race one of the 450 class.
08:31It's another thing entirely to battle somebody
08:34who you really don't care for.
08:36For Hayden Deegan, he's probably looking at Kitchen saying,
08:39hey, man, you cost me a Super Motocross World Championship,
08:41and, oh, I don't know, $500,000 at least in the way.
08:45So there's a lot on the line
08:47other than just the win in race two right here.
08:49Yeah, I know why you're watching this, too.
08:51You want to see how he's going to handle it
08:52if he's able to make a move.
08:55Battle down there is for fourth bottom box.
08:58Boland, again, the Club of X Yamaha,
09:00so strong early to see your fourth over DeFrancisco.
09:03Well, just down here with the mechanics area here,
09:07just looking at the pit boards, guys,
09:09and Kitchen's being told, you know, go, pace,
09:13and Deegan's being told, pressure.
09:15So the two of them, you know,
09:17they're being told by the mechanics
09:18exactly what we are expecting them to need to do,
09:21but we still don't know how this is going to roll out.
09:23Right, well, you don't really know
09:26what their game plan is, and when...
09:29Here comes Deegan triples side-by-side now.
09:33Oh, here he goes.
09:33And here's that corner.
09:34JT mentioned he goes right to the inside.
09:36See ya.
09:37Stands him up.
09:40And the crowd explodes there, R.C.
09:42That was big.
09:43Oh, that was big.
09:46Similar to the pass that Kitchen made on him
09:48in that SMX round at St. Louis
09:51that JT was talking about.
09:54But definitely not as aggressive.
09:56He didn't put it down.
09:57I didn't think he was going to go for a pass like that,
10:00but he made it happen.
10:03And off he goes.
10:05He's gone.
10:06Why did you not expect that?
10:07I thought he was...
10:09I don't know.
10:10I just...
10:10I thought he was going to give him
10:12a little bit more room.
10:14But clearly he didn't.
10:15He uses up all the lines.
10:17Great anticipation by the 47 of Kitchen.
10:21And the look back.
10:21Yeah.
10:23Well, that ends that.
10:25Deegan made up three seconds
10:26and makes the pass
10:28as soon as the opening was there
10:30and is checking out.
10:32Yeah, I thought maybe
10:34that he would just wait
10:35until a straightaway,
10:36you know,
10:37through these long rhythm lanes
10:38to maybe make a move.
10:39But hey, man,
10:40he's the guy riding the motorcycle
10:41and he knows
10:42when the opportune time is.
10:46And that time is now
10:47as Deegan is looking for the 1-1
10:49to start the evening.
10:51Yeah.
10:51It's going to be nice
10:52going into the third race
10:53if he's able to hold down this lead
10:56because, see,
10:57he'll be able to go to that third race
10:58and not have to win
11:00to get the overall.
11:02not have to push it.
11:03You talked about playing
11:04the long game
11:05earlier on in this race.
11:07He would be able to do that
11:09because of the situation
11:10that he would be in
11:11winning these first two races.
11:13Yeah, he would not have to beat Kitchen
11:14in the next race.
11:17Damage already done.
11:21But look,
11:22he got taken out by Kitchen
11:24dating back to last year.
11:25That's the story
11:25we were alluding to earlier.
11:27And that was a similar scenario,
11:28but he didn't take him out.
11:29It was aggressive.
11:31Yeah, he crossed all the ruts.
11:32Yes.
11:32For like, Levi did that.
11:33Yes, he did.
11:35But it was close.
11:36It was close to a takeout,
11:37but not quite.
11:40He made that move.
11:41But I want you to watch
11:42Hayden Deegan's line in the whoopsie.
11:43He's going over the finish.
11:44He's going to use the whoops.
11:45He's going to go all the way
11:47to his right,
11:48right up against the tough blocks.
11:49And the reason he's been going there
11:51is that no one else really is.
11:52So they're going to be more round
11:54and more predictable.
11:55And that's one of the areas
11:56that he was making up a lot of time
11:58on Levi Kitchen.
11:59So as this track deteriorates,
12:01you're going to have to stay mindful
12:02of where the track
12:03is still in prime condition.
12:05That's an old trick
12:06from our day, JT,
12:08to remember.
12:08Ride and ride along those hay bales
12:10where no one would go.
12:11Never really worked out well for me.
12:13Okay, maybe that's why
12:17it's an old trick.
12:18Maybe not recommended.
12:20He's putting good work to it now
12:22and really great ride.
12:24Played it cool.
12:25A lot like he did the main event
12:26last week behind his teammate,
12:28Michael Bozeman.
12:29Just kind of let the race come to him
12:30and make a move for the win.
12:33Checkered flag in sight.
12:35Oh, he gives another look back
12:37and another finger guns
12:38and another win
12:39for Deegan over Kitchen.
12:43And another third
12:46for McAdoo.
12:47Exactly the same podium order
12:49as race one.
12:52Bowling fourth,
12:53DeFrancisco fifth
12:54for 50 racers.
12:56Here we go.
12:56Already back.
12:57Ken Rockson looking to make it
12:59two out of two.
