A drive turned into an urgent wildlife rescue on the side of the highway.
Trevor Smithson from Virginia, USA stopped after spotting a hawk that had been struck by a car and left injured on the road.
After moving the bird to safety, Trevor claims that law enforcement advised that they could not legally assist and to leave it nearby.
Unwilling to abandon the hawk beside the highway, he attempted to release it in a nearby field but the injuries were too severe.
They then located a wildlife refuge and safely transported the hawk there to receive proper care.
Trevor said : “I’m not sure why the world is tearing itself apart.”
“I’m going to try and be a positive element, when I can.”
