00:05Just two weeks after claiming the Ute Panorama crown, Shalom Vej...
00:10It's back in Woodbrook with a mission of redemption. Every note, every beat...
00:15Every rehearsal is aimed at one goal, winning the Panorama in the large band category.
00:20For many of Shalom Vejda's young panelists, the journey to the under 21 Panorama...
00:25The Panorama title has been one of discipline, teamwork and shared determination.
00:30At first I was a bit on the fans about it being an older tune, it came out in 2007.
00:35And I was a bit worried about how the players would think, seeing that they are young players, 21 and under.
00:40But they accepted it, they enjoyed it from the time he started.
00:45Slow and Steady was the order of the night, as arranged for Shell Invaders...
00:50Vanessa Headley Brewster warmed up the band, as she paced back and forth...
00:55...and the notes into the player's consciousness.
00:57A furious flight of synchronized the flare...
01:00As Shell Invaders were on a move, charging toward what could become a battle for the history...
01:05...the history books.
01:10As Shell Invaders were on a move, charging toward what could become a battle for the history...
01:15The Youth Orchestra Victory
01:20has energized the band camp, setting the tune for what the senior orchestra hopes to achieve.
01:25It is a deeply historical band.
01:30You know, I'm really honored to be a part of that.
01:32I played with Invaders two years ago for Invaders.
01:35So to come back here in this capacity and do something.
01:40And so of this magnitude is significant to me.
01:44Vanessa.
01:45She has reached the Panorama Finals on several occasions.
01:48Unlike many of the new players.
01:50She knows exactly what it takes to perform on the big stage.
01:54And as one of the.
01:55The country's oldest steel band.
01:57Shell Invaders is now determined to leave its mark.
02:00Once again on the Panorama stage.
02:02This time with Young Brothers inch by inch.
02:05The arrangement of Young Brothers inch by inch.
02:08The approach for me is very.
02:10Harmonic.
02:11Musical.
02:12I'm trying to tell a love story.
02:14Focus on the lyrics.
02:15And the content of the song.
02:16And really just embellish on what is already there.
02:20There's a lot of room.
02:21But there's a lot of really good structure.
02:23In that piece.
02:24That.
02:25I think em.
02:26A lot of arrangers have recognised.
02:27They just haven't thought of it for a part.
02:30Pretty much.
02:31In that kind of run.
02:32But there's still a lot of
02:35the band wanted something modern, energetic and capable of connecting both players.
02:40A choice that will ultimately shape their panorama journey.
02:45Everything off the bat, we knew that we wanted to go with something that was current.
02:50So it was kind of like listening out for new music.
02:55We just kind of made a decision based on what felt right, what sounded well.
03:00All together.
03:01We all agreed on inch by inch.
03:03It's a crowd favorite.
03:04It has good energy.
03:05We did think that maybe nobody else would choose it, which is a kind of...
03:10After countless hours of preparation, the pan is stood ready for...
03:15the prelims.
03:16As the daylight faded into night, a calm confidence settled overnight.
03:20After the stage, focus replaced the fatigue as the pan is waited for their moment.
03:25Then came the signal from the judges.
03:27A simple nod, a silent approval...
03:30And just like that, in 3, 2, 1...
