00:00Welcome to day six of sharing what a day in the shop looks like of our small manufacturing business as we're on
00:05our way to try and sell 5,000 knives in 2026. It was a little chilly this morning so before
00:10I started cutting up this pin stock I warmed up in front of the heater. This is 3 8 inch round
00:15canvas micarta and we use this to do our fit ups for our stelter signature series.
00:20Forged knives. We taper these pins and then we drill a round hole and drive these in on
00:25either side of the tang and it gives us a perfect fit up and it's a lot faster cleaner and more
00:30consistent than carving a slot with the milling machine. And while I was working on that
00:35the postman showed up with a couple of big chunks of curly Nara. This is a super beautiful
00:40rare handle material that we'll be using for our first run of Damascus stelter signature.
00:45series knives. And Matthew went to our friend Gavin's shop to get these blocks processed so we can turn
00:49them into hand.
00:50While he was doing that I got going on doing a little bit of clean up grinding on the paring.
00:55knives. These are the Damascus ones that I showed in the last video. I got to work starting to hand
00:59sand them.
01:00I did not get them all done today but I did get a decent way on at least a couple of
01:05of them. And they look really good. These are now ready for etching. And after that I went outside
01:10to throw the ball for Marty. This is a pretty much daily occurrence. He needs he needs his
01:15fetch time every day. And it's a lot of fun for me too because Marty is an absolute goober.
01:20After that I went into the grinding room to texture the Damascus billets that we worked on.
01:25The last couple of days I'm grinding down with a big angle grinder to cut into the
01:30layers to expose the topography of the straight laminate layers. This means that when we then
01:35forge it back down anything that I carve in shows up on the surface of the billet.
01:39I get four of these to do.
01:40And using the nine inch angle grinder was absolutely wearing me out. So I switched to the four and a
01:44half.
01:45Half inch grinder and it went a little bit quicker. After that I tossed them in the forge to get them rolled out.
01:50Now I only rolled them to about five sixteenths of an inch thick.
01:55I now think that I'm going to roll them a little thinner just so that we don't have quite so much grinding work to do.
02:00On them because we are turning these into Kiridashis.
02:02And that was the end of the workday.
02:04I got four.
02:05These billets done and I think they're going to look sick in Kiridashi form.
02:08It'll be a little while before those are turned into Kiridashi.
02:10But we do have some fun knives up on the website already.
02:13We've got our Highline Santokus.
02:15This new Butterscotch Vintage Paper Micarta.
02:17We've also got those Stelter Signature Series knives.
02:20That you saw us working on in the last couple of videos.
02:22The Santokus and the Gyudos.
02:24They're forged.
02:25In-house with Desert Ironwood handles.
02:27We just got in our first batch of G10 scales for the Tenderfus.
02:30These are our Micro EDC fixed blades.
02:32We've got Tiffany Blue, Bubblegum Pink, and Ode.
02:35He's come with a Kydex in-pocket sheath and Discrete Carry Concepts clip to make...
02:40I've been doing tiny fixed blades for a very long time.
02:45Absolutely love them and the Tenderfoot is our production version.
02:47These are live now on StelterMFG.com.
02:50Thank you guys so much for watching and I'll see you tomorrow.
