00:00You saw the racist tropes he put out.
00:02This is the President of the United States of America.
00:06Call this guy out.
00:09Stop this timidity.
00:11Stop with the BS diplomacy.
00:13This is, you're in the rearview mirror.
00:16The recklessness of our own actions.
00:19I mean, we're all becoming chamberlains in this space.
00:22We have a supine United States Congress,
00:25so we have to stand up.
00:26Corporate leaders have to stand up.
00:29People have to stand up.
00:30We Americans may sometimes come off as a little direct and urgent in our council.
00:38This is why President Trump demands seriousness and reciprocity from our friends here in Europe.
00:44The reason why, my friends, is because we care deeply.
00:48We care deeply about your future and ours.
00:52And if at times we disagree,
00:55our disagreements come from our profound sense of concern about a Europe with which we are connected,
01:02not just economically, not just militarily.
01:05We are connected spiritually and we are connected culturally.
01:09This is a moment where we are seeing our presidential administration tear apart the transatlantic partnership,
01:18rip up every democratic norm.
01:22And really calling into question, as was mentioned by David Carney at the World Economic Forum,
01:35the rules-based order that we have or, question mark, do we have?
01:41And so I think one of the reasons why, not just myself, but many of our colleagues here,
01:47in fact, Democrats, many Democrats that are here as well,
01:50is because we want to tell a larger story
01:55that what is happening is indeed very grave.
01:58And we are in a new era, domestically and globally.
02:04There have been many leaders who've said, we will go back.
02:07And I think we have to recognize that we are in a new day and in a new time.
02:11But that does not mean that the majority of Americans are ready to walk away from a rules-based order
02:20and that we're ready to walk away from our commitment to democracy.
