00:00Thank you for braving the cold. Just how disruptive has the storm been?
00:05Well, Danny, nearly a foot of snow fell here.
00:10In Central Park, 11.4 inches blanketed the city in its heaviest snow.
00:15Snowstorm in years. Now, what we know is that this Monday morning commute has been messy for the
00:20those who have been willing to brave it. And of course, commuter rail lines are operating with modified
00:25schedules. The Long Island Railroad, which gets many people into Wall Street, is running.
00:30On a weekend schedule and Metro North is on enhanced Saturday schedule.
00:35Reduced service on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines, New York City subway and bus.
00:40System is, of course, largely running on schedule, though multiple lines.
00:45had delays this morning. But the critical piece of that transit infrastructure.
00:50is, of course, New Jersey Transit, which halted all bus service and trains.
00:55train service yesterday. It is resuming in phases, but the bus service is beginning.
01:00to run at 10 this morning. No word on when full service will return.
01:05But, you know, when we talk about this, this was really the first test for Mayor Zoram.
01:10Momdani, who had urged anyone who could work remotely to stay home yesterday.
01:15Yesterday's snowstorm meant that plows were all throughout the city, hitting those primaries.
01:20secondary and tertiary roads, and for a good measure, it seems like the city.
01:25did quite a good job, but it is cold here in Central Park, and people are taking in the site.
01:30It is gorgeous. It is picturesque. And, of course, I brought my tea with me.
01:35because I cannot stand out here and talk to you about how cold it is without...
01:40keeping something warm near me, and this tea is basically iced tea now.
01:44How much, uh...
01:45By the way, cheers to that, Miles Miller. How much, um, did...
01:50Momdani have to be prepared for this. You know, because of the experience that we all went through under de Blasio...
01:55where as soon as he came into office, the snow hit and nothing was cleaned off the streets.
02:00The trash piled up and nobody came to pick it up. Um, and Momdani, I'm sure, is sensitive.
02:05Uh, to that issue. Has he doubled, uh, up on, you know, snow...
02:10that allows salt trucks and trash pickup to avoid that issue?
02:15Yeah, you know, the mayor spent his time basically...
02:20hitched to the sanitation department, went to a sanitation department, garage...
02:25early, uh, Saturday morning, and then was there with them for the start of the shift at 6...
02:30and really paid good attention to where those snow plows were heading. Uh, there...
02:35has been advanced technology, knowing where these snow plows are at any given time, you could go to...
02:40plow NYC and see when a snow plow had gotten to your street.
02:43And if you had an issue with that, you could call...
02:453-1-1 and they'd figure out a way to get you a plow as soon as possible.
02:48I live on a major road...
02:50in Brooklyn.
02:51I had both the big plow and those tinier plows going...
02:55through my street so much so good, uh, that my all-wheel drive had to be put in overdrive...
03:00in order to get out of that spot that I had gotten plowed into.
03:03And I'll tell you this, uh, the mayor...
03:05was very keen on operations for the first time, uh, having NYPD...
03:10vehicles giving escorts to ambulances to make sure that anybody who needed help...
03:15got it, uh, and for most parts of the city...
03:18you can say it was, uh...
03:20quite a good experience for people who live...
03:22in the city.
