00:00We are partnering with Habitat for Humanity,
00:04taking a barn and turning it into a home.
00:07I don't know what I'm going to do yet.
00:09That's a big problem.
00:10We're planning on using this whole structure
00:12and just reworking it.
00:14Good news?
00:15No.
00:17We have a lot to do.
00:19This family will get a home that they can afford
00:22that they may not have been able to otherwise.
00:25Oh!
00:27Amber has worked so hard for this,
00:29and so it's so fun to be able to be a part of giving it to them.
00:32It is so deserving, and it's really cool.
00:34That's what I wanted in my home.
00:36I'm so happy. It's perfect.
00:38All right, Jenny.
00:40Three, two, one.
00:44Go!
00:48Perfect!
00:51For me and Dave, every day is a lot of moving parts.
00:54With five growing kids...
00:57No!
00:58Do not go in the house!
01:00All right, let's put a break on.
01:01Whoa!
01:02Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:04A working farm full of our beloved animals.
01:07Sometimes cows don't do what you want them to.
01:09It's the strangest thing.
01:10I think I have to go in and scoop some poop, too.
01:14A renovation business...
01:15Oh!
01:17What?
01:18...and running two stores in our community of Northwest Arkansas.
01:21I think we did it.
01:22We definitely did it.
01:24We stay pretty busy.
01:26Ah!
01:27And sometimes a little stressed.
01:29God!
01:30Oh, my Lord, David!
01:31But when your job is helping your neighbors transform their lives...
01:35Oh, my God!
01:37Oh, my God!
01:38...by transforming the place they call home...
01:40...a crux.
01:42Oh, my God!
01:43It's so pretty!
01:45Oh!
01:46It's not really work at all.
01:47Just another day in this crazy, beautiful life we call ours.
01:51Oh, my God!
01:52Thank you for doing that!
02:02We are super excited because today we are partnering with Habitat for Humanity...
02:06Yeah.
02:07...an organization that we really love and respect and does amazing work.
02:11Here we come.
02:12We are actually taking a barn structure and turning it into a home for a family.
02:20Ready?
02:21Okay.
02:24Hello, welcome!
02:25Hey, how's it going?
02:26The purpose of Habitat for Humanity is to build homes for deserving families.
02:31Partnering with Dave and Jenny allows us to go beyond what Habitat can normally do...
02:36...and really specialize this home for this family.
02:39We've been using this lot for our storage as we build other homes around this community.
02:43It's been great to have it.
02:45But with Dave and Jenny's help, we're going to convert this shop into a home for around $218,000.
02:50And we're able to get that price with assistance with the volunteers already owning this property, savings from trades and contractors that are coming to help us out.
03:00Okay, so do we have any update on the family that's going to be living here yet?
03:03We have narrowed it down to a few applications that fit this, you know, kind of house size.
03:08Okay, okay.
03:09So, three bedroom, two bath, right?
03:10That's right.
03:11That's right.
03:12Yeah.
03:13That's our standard.
03:14This is going to be great.
03:15Okay, this is awesome.
03:16We've got 1,200 square feet.
03:17We can work with that.
03:18Yay!
03:19Oh, here they are.
03:20Hey, guys.
03:21Wow.
03:22We were just talking.
03:23I thought we were coming to do a house.
03:24Not a barn.
03:25We're going to make it into a house.
03:26Okay.
03:27Yeah.
03:28So, tell us, what is the plan?
03:30Yeah, so we have a whole bunch of applicants that have already been approved as a part of the program.
03:35Okay.
03:36That means that they qualify for an affordable mortgage.
03:38Okay.
03:39And they have agreed to partner with us, meaning that they'll work on houses and earn 300 to 400 hours of sweat equity to be able to move into their home and purchase their home.
03:50Yeah, so they're out there with me.
03:51They're also taking educational classes.
03:52Yeah.
03:53That's amazing.
03:54Lots of hours, you know, putting in that sweat equity.
03:56I love that.
03:57That's really cool.
03:58And this used to be storage, right?
03:59But you don't need it anymore, so now it's going to be a home.
04:01Yeah.
04:02That's correct.
04:03Amazing.
04:04All right.
04:05Let's get going.
04:06Yeah.
04:07The plan is to have a three-bedroom, two-bath house.
04:11I don't really know what the layout's going to look like yet, and so I kind of want to just get all this out of here and so we can lay it out together and figure out where the walls are going to go.
04:21We actually did a barn conversion a couple of years ago, and this Habitat build feels like a pretty similar challenge.
04:27So, I know we can make the end result just as steady.
04:30And as long as we stay within the budget and finish within five months, Habitat has given us free reign on this project.
04:37Like this stuff too?
04:39Did I take all this?
04:40I think so.
04:41I think everything.
04:42So, there's plenty of people working inside clearing stuff out, so we're going to start pulling the siding down so we can get a little air flow in there and see what we have to work with.
04:52We won't be keeping this metal siding on the final house, but the metal support means inside will stay.
04:58That will save us time and money when building the new house since we won't be starting completely from scratch.
05:05Wow.
05:06I know.
05:07Okay.
05:08We're pretty close.
05:09We're going to be able to like really get an idea for the view.
05:13Yeah.
05:14Let me talk to Dave and see what we can do.
05:30I'll call you back.
05:31Bye.
05:32Dave.
05:33What's up?
05:34Just got a call from the plumbers.
05:36What?
05:37Just got a call from the plumbers?
05:38Yeah.
05:39The house structure is sitting too low, so in order to make it work to get to the sewer, we have to put a pump in.
05:46Or we have to raise the ground.
05:48The sewer's out at the road.
05:49Yeah.
05:50Cost, $4,000.
05:53That's just for the pump?
05:54That's just the pump.
05:56Not cutting the pipe.
05:58Yeah, that's not even them installing it.
05:59The pump itself is $4,000.
06:01So we're probably $7,000, $8,000.
06:04That's a big problem.
06:05So what are you going to do, raise it?
06:07Did she say how much we have to raise it?
06:09She was saying about 12 inches.
06:11Oh.
06:12Dude, we only have $215,000 for this.
06:17All right, let me tell Jenny.
06:20She'll love that.
06:22We ran into a, well, big issue.
06:25This structure, the grade of this, is sitting essentially even with where the sewer is right now.
06:32So if I cut into this and put a sewer in, I'm already lower.
06:36And then I would have, got a little bit of an issue.
06:38Sorry, what's going on?
06:39We're going to have to take the whole structure.
06:42What?
06:43This slab is sitting at the same level as the sewer out of the street.
06:56You took the slab down too?
06:57We have to pour a new slab?
06:58I have to pour a new one on top of it.
07:00Oh my gosh.
07:01Because I've got to raise this at least 12 inches.
07:04Is that going to cost, I mean, that's going to cost more money for the slab, but I thought saving the structure was saving us money too.
07:09It was, but now we're going to have to reframe them.
07:13Like we would have to go through on this and we would have to add in, add in studs every 16 inches.
07:19Like this is not, this is framed for a barn right now, not a house.
07:23Yeah.
07:24So we were going to have to add stuff, some stuff in, but you can see the dirt level here.
07:28It's, we're at dirt level.
07:29So like they get any crazy rains, they're going to be pushing water into their house.
07:35So I mean, raising it would help us.
07:38Okay.
07:39We're planning on using this whole structure and just reworking it.
07:43We can't do that.
07:44So we have a little bit of a problem in the back with the sewer out at the road.
07:48Okay.
07:49Is at the same level as the slab.
07:51So I would either have to put in a pump system that would pump the sewage up to the road.
07:58Or we raise the slab, we reframe it.
08:02Oh.
08:03And we frame the walls.
08:04But that means this whole structure has to go.
08:06Oh.
08:07We would leave the existing slab there.
08:09Okay.
08:10Put a band on it.
08:11Okay.
08:12Run our plumbing, pour a new slab and then frame on top of it.
08:14Okay.
08:15But all the metal has to go.
08:16All the metal would have to go.
08:17Yeah.
08:18I feel like the cost of just building the new structure on top is not that much more than...
08:23It's probably $5,000 more.
08:25Luckily, we don't have to pay for the land, so that saves us money.
08:28Yeah.
08:29And if you could sell this as a barn, that's something you take.
08:32That's a great idea.
08:33Yeah.
08:34Once we're done disassembling this structure, someone could buy the materials and then rebuild
08:38it as a new barn or storage shed on their property.
08:41So it sounds like we're starting from scratch, which means the design won't be confined by the
08:45existing structure.
08:46I don't think it's the worst thing.
08:48I mean, I actually really think it makes it a little bit easier, a lot easier in my opinion,
08:54for my job, because now the exterior, I can make it look the way I want to.
09:00And honestly, I don't think reframing from scratch is going to push our construction deadline
09:04by too much.
09:05So basically, originally, we'll have the front door here, right?
09:09Right.
09:10And we'll come into a living room and a kitchen.
09:14Okay.
09:15But I was thinking for up here, I'm going to swap and put the kitchen on that side and
09:20the living room over here, because I think we should have a set of French doors leading
09:25out to this courtyard.
09:26Yeah.
09:27Okay, so now I actually am going to rework my exterior plan too, because I was working
09:33off of the assumption of this structure.
09:35Now I'm going to change it up.
09:36Okay.
09:37And I think, I don't know what I'm going to do yet.
09:39And I also don't know if we should wait until you have a family and I know what they're,
09:42who they are.
09:43Yeah.
09:44We're going to need to know who this home is for in the next couple of months,
09:47so we can start making some design choices.
09:49That's fair.
09:50So then we'll have a bedroom, and a bedroom, and then a bathroom, and then this will be
09:59the main suite.
10:00Yeah.
10:01On this side of the house.
10:02Okay.
10:03Like the layout feels nice.
10:04It feels like it's really functional.
10:06All the bedrooms will be in the back half, the bathrooms and laundry in the middle, and
10:10the living room and kitchen at the front.
10:14305-0-TWIN?
10:16No, that's a single.
10:17That's the twin.
10:18Unless you want a twin in both rooms.
10:21Hey!
10:22Um, no, because now this is just three.
10:25Hey!
10:26Hey!
10:27Ah!
10:28Where have you been?
10:31Joe is a long-time member of our construction crew who retired a few years ago.
10:37And I just miss seeing him every day, so it's such a treat to have him here.
10:40Hi!
10:41Oh, you came with all the work's done just like I knew you would!
10:44Oh!
10:45Perfect!
10:46Perfect!
10:47What are you doing here?
10:48You know, that's Joe's sister-in-law right there.
10:50Yeah, right there.
10:51Oh, yeah!
10:52And that's my brother.
10:53Yes!
10:54And they're involved in Habitat?
10:55I didn't know they worked at all.
10:56Yeah.
10:57Thanks for bringing our Joe back!
10:58Yes!
10:59Yes!
11:00Did you call him and ask when everything was over and when to show up?
11:04Yeah!
11:05He sent me a text.
11:06Work done.
11:07I was already.
11:08Oh, my God!
11:09Holy cow!
11:10Yeah!
11:11I almost died!
11:12Maddie?
11:13Wow!
11:14I thought I was going to have to call it a day.
11:15What is this?
11:16That was an omen.
11:17That was.
11:18So what have you been doing?
11:19What have you been up to?
11:21Oh, been gardening.
11:23Oh.
11:24How's this garden season?
11:25It's so hot and we had so much rain.
11:27No, man.
11:28I got the prettiest tomato plants.
11:30Stop it.
11:31I was just saying this morning I want tomatoes.
11:33All right.
11:34So gardening.
11:35What else?
11:36Drinking beer.
11:37Drinking beer.
11:38Okay.
11:39Well, now that you're here, I think we should just go to lunch.
11:41Okay.
11:42Take a break.
11:43It's a good time for a break.
11:44Come on.
11:45We just got going.
11:46We'll find a place that serves your...
11:47What kind of beer do you like?
11:48We're going to find a place that serves Joe's cold beer.
11:53So we are finishing pulling down the barn.
12:10We have about 5,000 in overages because having to rebuild all of this, having to elevate the
12:17plumbing.
12:18Thankfully, Tim purchased this structure for $5,000 to help balance out our budget.
12:22He's going to take this over to his barn, reassemble it, and make a mini horse arena.
12:27I don't know where the minis come from, but you know.
12:31I'll leave this.
12:32Luke and Charlotte are going to love seeing those mini horses running around this little
12:37arena.
12:38Mm-hmm.
12:39All right.
12:40Still coming down.
12:41Yeah.
12:42How are you guys doing?
12:43Hey, babe.
12:44Good.
12:45Hey.
12:46What's up?
12:47Oh.
12:48Not too much.
12:49This is it.
12:50Yeah.
12:51This structure is being removed, but this slab will still stay as the foundation.
12:56Well, we're going to need to shoot the level of the slab to make sure we have the fall.
13:02But just to get the drain lines to drain properly, we are going to have to go up for sure.
13:07Okay.
13:08But then we might have to pump it also as well.
13:10Oh.
13:11Yeah.
13:12That pumps what?
13:13Three grand?
13:14Four grand?
13:15About six.
13:16Oh.
13:17We were hoping not to have to pump it.
13:19Oh.
13:20Yeah.
13:21The price of this structure went to 12.
13:22Sorry.
13:23Get to it.
13:24Let us know.
13:25I'm going to get set up and I'll let you know.
13:26Give us the good or bad news.
13:28We'll all be waiting.
13:29Sweet.
13:30All right.
13:31The reason we're having to take the structure down is because of a plumbing issue where we're
13:34going to have to get the water to drain out to the main line.
13:37And we did not want to have to put in a pump because that will cost extra money.
13:42So she is here to investigate if we have to.
13:45Good news?
13:46No.
13:47No.
13:55Good news?
13:56No.
13:57No.
13:58I went and shot it and we were lacking like 15 inches.
14:01So it has to be a pump.
14:03So you're saying you can't get enough fall from here to the center of the road to make
14:07it force itself on out.
14:08Right.
14:09Yeah.
14:10So the fall from the property to the main part of the street.
14:16Basically it's flat and we need it to pull like this so that the water can drain.
14:23So even though we're raising the foundation, it's just not enough.
14:26We have to install a pump to help with plumbing, making it to the main water line.
14:32All right.
14:33So we have to do a pump.
14:35So $6,000?
14:36Yeah.
14:37Yeah.
14:38All right.
14:39Well.
14:40The right thing to do with this structure is to raise it up so they don't have water
14:43problems.
14:44So we're into that.
14:45This whole project is about giving back to the community.
14:48This means a lot to us.
14:49So it has to be done the right way.
14:51And now we're going to have to spend $6,000 on this pump.
14:55So we'll have to figure out how to make up the cost somewhere else.
14:59With the rest of the old structure down, we can install the new plumbing lines and pour
15:12the elevated concrete slab.
15:14Raising this house 12 inches will eliminate any water issues that future homeowners may
15:19have.
15:20And it also means framing can begin.
15:22The room layout is a classic three-bedroom, two-bathroom, which we will begin to personalize
15:27as soon as the homeowners are selected by Habitat.
15:30All right.
15:31Let me nail this real quick.
15:36Also, we were lucky to get the AC unit provided and the installers provided their labor costs as
15:43well.
15:44You want me to take it?
15:45Okay.
15:46Thanks.
15:47That savings actually makes up for the whole cost of the sewer pump.
15:50Now we're right back on budget.
15:52All right.
15:53So I'm just looking over the electrical plan.
15:57This is the living room.
15:58We'll have French doors and a nice seating area by the front window.
16:01It'll be a comfortable and cozy hangout space for any family.
16:05I mean, this is going to be really nice.
16:08We have bedrooms.
16:09Laundry.
16:10We've got the little laundry room.
16:12We've got a bathroom.
16:13Right now, they're just boxes, though.
16:15So we need to figure out something that makes them unique.
16:17Well, we don't know who's going to be living here.
16:19We don't have the family yet.
16:20I assume they have kids.
16:22These might just be guest rooms, honestly.
16:23We'll see.
16:24But yeah, I feel like this is a good space.
16:28Stealing Heights nice.
16:29Oh, hey.
16:30Hey.
16:31How's it going?
16:32Good.
16:33I mean, you tell us.
16:34How's it going?
16:35This is amazing.
16:36It looks great, right?
16:37So exciting.
16:38Okay.
16:39Well, I have great news.
16:40Do you?
16:41Okay.
16:42We picked a family.
16:43Oh, yay.
16:44We're thinking about, all right, what are we going to do with these four walls?
16:46Yes.
16:47It is really hard to plan when you don't know who you're planning for.
16:50Yes.
16:51Very hard.
16:52It's a single mom with two kiddos.
16:54Her name is Amber.
16:55Okay.
16:56She's been in the program.
16:57January will be three years.
16:58Oh, wow.
16:59Okay.
17:00So long time.
17:01So deserving.
17:02She's got a middle school daughter and a toddler son.
17:04Oh, wow.
17:05Okay.
17:06That's awesome.
17:07She has been working hard to earn her sweat equity hours.
17:12She's been working on other houses.
17:13Okay.
17:14She's been attending our community training classes.
17:16That's amazing.
17:17Financial literacy.
17:18So many things.
17:19Okay.
17:20So would you guys be up for, like, giving her the good news?
17:22Oh, my gosh.
17:23Yeah.
17:24Sure.
17:25Let's do it.
17:27Hi.
17:28Hello.
17:29Amber.
17:30I'm Jenny.
17:31This is Dave.
17:32How are you doing?
17:33We're here with Ashley, who I know you know.
17:35Hey, Amber.
17:36So we have some fun news.
17:38We just found out that this is going to be your home.
17:42Yeah.
17:43We're working on your house.
17:46Oh, we can't hear you.
17:47Okay.
17:48Yeah.
17:49Maybe take your Wi-Fi off.
17:52Hey, guys.
17:53There it is.
17:54Oh, yay.
17:55Okay.
17:56Okay.
17:57So we're in what is going to be your house.
18:01Oh, my gosh.
18:02It's not working every time.
18:03Keep saying that's amazing over and over.
18:05Just try it again.
18:06Okay.
18:07What's going to be your home?
18:08I'm so excited.
18:10Yay.
18:12So I hear you have two kids.
18:14Addie.
18:15She is my 12-year-old.
18:17She loves anything soccer.
18:19Okay.
18:20Now, who else?
18:21You have another kiddo?
18:22Drew.
18:23And he just turned two.
18:25Two.
18:26Okay.
18:27Andrew, two.
18:28Okay.
18:29What is Andrew like?
18:30He loves cars and race cars.
18:32Anything and everything.
18:33Oh, I love that.
18:34He's just a little boy.
18:35He loves all little boy things.
18:37And what about you?
18:38Yeah, what about you?
18:39Is there anything you love?
18:40Any colors you love?
18:41Anything you'd love to see here?
18:43We would focus on my kids and make the best for them.
18:48I don't care about me.
18:50Aww.
18:51You have a pretty blue shirt.
18:53Do you like blue?
18:54Do you like blue?
18:55I'm easy to please.
18:57Okay.
18:58So you just want it to be a beautiful home or your family.
19:01All three of you can be happy and feel safe.
19:04You've worked so hard for this.
19:05So we're honored to do it.
19:06Yes, Ashley told us how long you've been in the program and how much work you've already
19:10done.
19:11So thank you for that.
19:12Yes.
19:13We are so incredibly proud of you and the hard work that you've put in.
19:16And we are so excited that this home is going to be yours and Addie's and Andrew's.
19:21It's just, we're just so excited for you.
19:24And Amber, there's a ton of work that still needs to be done out here.
19:27So be prepared to get some more sweat equity hours out here on your house.
19:31Yes.
19:32I'm ready.
19:33Just tell me when.
19:34All right.
19:35Thanks.
19:36Bye.
19:37Thank you guys so much.
19:39Okay, thank you.
19:40This is exciting.
19:41Appreciate you.
19:42Great work.
19:43All right.
19:45We are getting closer.
19:46Yes, we are.
19:47All right.
19:48So I was thinking, there's a store of gathered goods that's offered to provide furniture.
19:52Really?
19:53Yeah.
19:54That's amazing.
19:55So I could get beds for Amber's room and Addie's room, but I thought maybe you
20:00could build a bed for Andrew's little room.
20:02Absolutely.
20:03Maybe like we could do like a race car bed or something fun, you know, because he's two.
20:07All right.
20:08So is this his room or we're going to put the front room, right?
20:10Yeah, I think so.
20:11So his room, I mean, you could put the bed right here.
20:15I think so too.
20:16Just a twin bed.
20:17Yeah.
20:18He's two.
20:19So it needs to be low to the ground, toddler.
20:21You can leave this room really cute.
20:23All right.
20:24So Addie, this will be her room.
20:26So she's 12.
20:28But she likes soccer.
20:29So what if we put like in the back here, a soccer goal and just set up like a little
20:34soccer practice area for her?
20:35That would be cool.
20:36I like that.
20:37So if we give her a play area outside for soccer and then just make this a really pretty,
20:42sophisticated teen room, I think that would be really nice.
20:46We have a lot to do.
20:47We have a very little amount of time to do that.
20:49Very little amount of time.
20:50We also have very little amount of information.
20:53I mean, we know that Amber's son likes race cars.
20:56Her daughter likes soccer.
20:58And Amber likes the color blue.
21:00So we are going to come up with some ideas to make this place special for them.
21:04We are adding a nice big dormer in the front that'll give us lots of extra space inside.
21:10We're going with a craftsman look here.
21:13Adding in some landscaping and a front porch that will be perfect for their family.
21:17We want them to walk through the doors and just feel like they're home.
21:24All right.
21:25We're pulling in.
21:26Here we go.
21:27Excited.
21:28We're ready.
21:29Woo!
21:30Hi!
21:31Hi!
21:32Hi!
21:33Hi!
21:34Hi!
21:35Hi!
21:36Hi!
21:37Hi!
21:38Hi!
21:39We are so excited that Amber and her kids were selected as the Habitat family for this house.
21:48So Jennie wanted me to make a race car bed for Andrew.
21:53So I've drawn out some wheels, like so, some wheel wells.
22:00and then the frame of the car. So I'm just going to start cutting this.
22:14So the wheels I want to be perfectly round. I'm going to use a router on those.
22:25I need to cut the wheel wells straight.
22:30Basically, I'm going to have something like that. Cut these off here and just have that little wheel well.
22:43It's going to turn out good.
22:47We have our big fundraiser dinner coming up at the Berry Farm for our sponsors for berry season this year.
22:54We have a blueberry farm and our annual Berry Fest raises money to fund an agricultural trade school in a rural village in Zimbabwe.
23:02We started the Berry Festival where we invited people in so we could tell the story and invite sponsors in and invite people to come alongside us and help with this, you know, life changing work.
23:15I just need Dave to make a couple frames. We had some artwork done and we're going to give these as little thank you gifts to our sponsors along with a couple other things.
23:25So Dave's going to frame these up for me.
23:27What's Dave going to do?
23:28Hey. Oh, here he is. Oh, Sue. Look how pretty this is.
23:33Oh, wow.
23:34Isn't that awesome?
23:35Berry fields.
23:36Berry farm. Yeah.
23:37I'll start on it right now.
23:38Okay.
23:40So.
23:41Come on, banana.
23:42Jenny Marr is always trying to figure out different projects that we can do, which I love.
23:47Wait, you volunteered to make the frames when I told you I was getting art made.
23:51Luckily, I volunteered to make these frames. I don't remember them.
23:53Yes, you did too. You said I'll make some frames, David. I heard you.
24:04At the Habitat build, things are coming together quickly. We have the guys installing the roof and it's starting to actually look like a house.
24:11And the electricians are working inside.
24:15Out here, we've got the sewer water line that we had to add in all the way to the road.
24:20So they're making some really good headway.
24:22They're working on getting the sewer pump put in.
24:25That way we can pump it all out to the road.
24:27So we're making real, real good headway.
24:29They should have this all covered up today and be able to move forward.
24:39Let's go see what we can find.
24:42So my friend Kim and I are headed to go do some shopping at Gathered Goods.
24:46They are big supporters of Habitat and we're excited to be a part of the project.
24:51And so we are here just picking out the furniture.
24:54I was looking at this sofa.
24:56That would be nice too.
24:57I mean we need a sofa.
24:58It's a slip cover which is nice too for kids.
25:00I like that.
25:01Yeah.
25:02I really want to get Amber and the kids set up with furniture for the house.
25:06This is cute.
25:07A little bed.
25:08So that they can just move in and be ready to go once they're in the home.
25:11So we have a lot to pick.
25:13Well this dresser is cute.
25:15I do like that the style of this one is really cute.
25:17Yeah it's really cute.
25:18It's very simple.
25:19Yeah I love that.
25:20Okay.
25:25So again thank you for being so generous.
25:28I know Amber and the kids are going to be so grateful.
25:30I mean this is such an amazing project to be a part of for their family.
25:34It's our pleasure to help out.
25:35And I know all the vendors are so excited about the project.
25:38And we hope she loves it and we're so glad y'all are here.
25:50We're on track to have this house ready for the homeowner in about four weeks.
25:53Kitchen cabinets and countertops have been delivered and the team is inside laying down a durable,
25:58kid-friendly flooring throughout the home.
26:01Now that all the siding is up, we're going to start painting it a modern, deep blue color that I think Amber will love.
26:07All right let's just take them in there and lay them out.
26:12Okay.
26:13This is Amber's room, mom.
26:16So this is the floor in the main bathroom.
26:19So we're just doing a little mosaic tile in here.
26:22Okay.
26:23And then we're just doing marble in a subway pattern around the tub.
26:28Amber is so selfless.
26:29When we asked her what she wanted, she said she just wanted things nice for her kids.
26:33But I also want to make sure her bathroom and bedroom are beautiful and special.
26:37That they're a place just for her.
26:39So this was kids' bathroom.
26:40Do you want strips?
26:41Yeah.
26:42So say you do one stripe like that.
26:44And then you can do a bigger one of like six, say next.
26:49Yeah.
26:50That's cute.
26:51And then do we have the backsplash tile here for the kitchen?
26:54Mm-hmm.
26:55Now that we've gotten to know our homeowner more, I'm thinking a farmhouse style kitchen with stainless appliances, stone countertops, an island, bun tile backsplash, and a shade of blue for the cabinets.
27:06And then we have this checkered backsplash.
27:10So we're just doing like a little...
27:14Checkerboard?
27:15Checker pattern.
27:16So it's just starting it like here.
27:18Yes.
27:19Yes.
27:20And so I want it just, you know, all the way up to the counters here and then up to the top.
27:24All the way up to the hood?
27:25Yeah.
27:26Sweet.
27:27It's going to be pretty.
27:28Awesome.
27:29All right.
27:30Okay.
27:31This Vineyard Dinner, we decided to do it as a way to celebrate the work that's being done to fund an agricultural trade school in a rural village in Zimbabwe run by our dear Zimbabwean friends, John and Orba.
27:53We are passionate about helping others and giving back from the project with Habitat for Humanity to our berry farm.
27:59So tonight we are having a dinner to really celebrate John and Orba, the work that they're doing.
28:05All of our sponsors that have come along beside us just to say thank you for all of the help and the work that you've done all these years.
28:12To be here is so great to see you are smiling and just saying you're doing a good thing.
28:19It's very encouraging.
28:20So to you all, thank you for encouraging us and helping us to be here on behalf of the children.
28:28To John and Orba.
28:29To John and Orba.
28:31John and Orba.
28:32Cheers.
28:33Cheers.
28:34Cheers.
28:35Just seeing their passion as they talk about this work and talk about the people in their community and the kids that they care for.
28:39They exude joy.
28:40And now I'm so excited after tonight to now get ready for Berry Fest.
28:52Amber and her kids are going to be here today to put in sweat equity.
28:56Amber's at the last of her sweat equity hours.
28:59Amber, Addie, Andrew, I want to introduce you to Dave and Jenny.
29:04So nice to meet you.
29:05Congratulations.
29:06That's so nice to meet you.
29:07You've been working so hard for this.
29:08Oh my gosh.
29:09You're so close.
29:10This is so exciting.
29:11Yes, I'm so excited.
29:12You're almost done with your hours.
29:13I am.
29:14Okay.
29:15So we're going to go outside and do some work, but we're not going to go in yet.
29:17We have to keep the inside a big surprise, okay?
29:19Yes.
29:20Okay.
29:21Oh my goodness.
29:22That's awesome.
29:23Good job.
29:24It's a dinosaur truck.
29:26Tyler's here.
29:27Tyler.
29:28Our amazing landscaper.
29:29Good to see you, Tyler.
29:30How are you doing?
29:31Thanks, sir.
29:32We have a tree we want to plant out front.
29:35We want you guys to plant the tree in the front yard that you're going to watch grow year
29:39after year after year.
29:40So what do you think?
29:42I love it.
29:43Isn't it beautiful?
29:44It's beautiful.
29:45Wait till you see inside.
29:46It's awesome.
29:47I mean, if you wanted to show me today, I'll leave.
29:49Bye.
29:50I would love to.
29:51Because I'm one of those that likes to tell the presents and what they are.
29:54It's okay.
29:55I don't want to ruin the surprise.
29:56No.
29:57It's going to be worth it.
29:58A little further.
29:59How about?
30:00Put all your weight into it.
30:05What do you think, Andrew?
30:08Let's get the little man and a piece of equipment and dig the rest.
30:11All right.
30:12Sounds like a plan.
30:13Sounds good.
30:14Look what's coming.
30:15Look at the tractor.
30:16Do you want to get up there and try it?
30:18Do you want to try to dig the hole on that machine?
30:20Oh, yeah.
30:21He's like, well, I won't say no.
30:22Do you want to?
30:23We'll climb up there.
30:24All right.
30:25There you go.
30:26Push this one.
30:27Push it.
30:28There you go.
30:29Wow.
30:30All right.
30:31Get that one over there.
30:32You can push it.
30:33Whoa.
30:34There you go.
30:35What do you think?
30:37That was pretty cool.
30:38Good job, Andrew.
30:39Good job.
30:40Good job.
30:41Good job.
30:42Can I hop back down?
30:43He's like, no.
30:44That's still working.
30:45All right.
30:46You got it.
30:48There you go.
30:49Perfect.
30:50OK.
30:51OK.
30:52We're going back to work.
30:53You guys got to get out of here.
30:54See you, buddy.
30:55See you back when the house is all done, OK?
30:58So excited.
30:59Looking forward to it.
31:01We'll see you in a few weeks.
31:03And we'll see you in a few weeks, OK?
31:04Yes.
31:05Amber has worked so hard for this, and so it's so fun to be able to be a part of giving it to them.
31:08Who's so deserving, and it's really cool.
31:10Yeah.
31:18Welcome, everyone, to Berry Fest.
31:252,500 people here.
31:26We sold all the tickets.
31:28So what do you guys think of today?
31:29Yes.
31:30I mean, everyone here is for you guys.
31:31Amazing.
31:32Amazing.
31:33Isn't it incredible?
31:34It's surprising.
31:35I never thought we would have so many people.
31:38I know.
31:39The way it is, I saw buses dropping off people.
31:41I know.
31:42Streaming in.
31:43I know.
31:44It's amazing.
31:45It's amazing.
31:46All right.
31:48We love you.
31:49Let's bring in for a hug, and then let's go enjoy Berry Fest.
31:50Let's do it.
31:51We love you guys.
31:52We love you guys.
31:53We love you.
31:59As we're getting close to wrapping up this build, gravel is being delivered for the driveway.
32:04Inside, we've got the tile going up in the bathrooms, as well as the kitchen backsplash.
32:09And as the furniture is being moved in, we have a company here helping get the kitchen organized.
32:14They've provided organizational items to make your kitchen amazing.
32:19Dave finished off a large chalkboard that Amber and the kids can use to make memories.
32:24And I thought it would be such a unique touch to order some laser engraved custom bricks to add to the front porch.
32:31Personalizations like this are really going to make this house feel like a home to Amber and her kids.
32:42Brick looks good.
32:44Look how cute.
32:45It looks good, doesn't it?
32:47It looks really cute.
32:48I love it.
32:49I think it's nice and subtle, but very sweet.
32:51All right.
32:52All right.
32:53What else?
32:54There's all this light for over the sink.
32:57Yeah.
32:58Where'd you get that?
32:59That is fun.
33:00Isn't that fun?
33:01We've got to hang this bad boy.
33:05We want this place to feel like home.
33:07Obviously, this is a new build.
33:09They didn't have anything personal here.
33:11So we're adding in photos of Amber and the kids.
33:14Really just trying to bring some of their personality into the home.
33:18Oh, that's perfect.
33:19Oh, it's so cute.
33:20Jenny's so good.
33:21Look how cute this is.
33:23Look, Tanya.
33:24Look how sweet.
33:25It's all the letters.
33:26Letters from their friends and family.
33:28Isn't that so sweet?
33:29Isn't that so sweet?
33:30Dearest Amber, to say I'm proud of you would be an understatement.
33:33Since you signed up for this house, you have worked very hard to meet every requirement.
33:38These requirements were not easy to meet, but you worked until each one was done.
33:42So you not only have a roof over your head, but a home for you and your children.
33:47I'm so happy with and for you.
33:49Love Ollie's grandma, Gima.
33:51Aw, that's so sweet.
33:52That's so sweet.
33:53That's really sweet.
33:59It looks so good.
34:00Turned out incredible.
34:02This project started as an old barn that we were going to renovate.
34:07And the barn had to actually be taken down.
34:10And we had to elevate the foundation.
34:13Kind of had to start over from scratch, but it was a good thing.
34:16It was a good thing.
34:17Because we were able to build what we want.
34:19All right.
34:20I love this bathroom.
34:21The tile is so fun.
34:23We were able to create this really beautiful, very classic Americana.
34:28Perfect family home for Amber and her kids.
34:31We were able to elevate the entire project.
34:35See the play on words I used?
34:37I did.
34:38That was fantastic.
34:39Amber, I am so excited to get to be with you as we see your home for the first time.
34:53How long have you been waiting for this?
34:55It feels like it's almost been three years.
34:58Oh my goodness.
34:59But the wait has been worth it.
35:01All right.
35:02We're pulling in.
35:03Here we go.
35:04I'm excited.
35:05Yay.
35:11Babe, I think I saw a reflection in the glass.
35:14I did.
35:15She's here.
35:16Aw.
35:17All right.
35:18Let's go.
35:19I can't wait.
35:21Hello.
35:22Hi.
35:24Aw.
35:25Welcome home.
35:27Oh, I love it.
35:28This is incredible.
35:30It's a craftsman to sort of all American house.
35:37Yeah.
35:38And it's beautiful.
35:39I love the swing.
35:40I love the rocking chairs.
35:42It's...
35:43It's everything I could drink with.
35:45Aw.
35:46Oh, Amber, you're so...
35:48I'm so excited.
35:49I'm so happy for you.
35:51I'm so happy for you.
35:52And seeing where Addy can practice.
35:56Spot to practice soccer.
35:58Andrew has a nice yard to play in.
36:00He's going to be running.
36:01He definitely does.
36:02Like every little boy should.
36:04Yeah.
36:05And you can sit out here on your swing and watch him.
36:07We take it all in.
36:08It's beautiful.
36:09Okay.
36:10We like to do a ribbon cutting.
36:12I love that.
36:13Like official.
36:14I was wondering why I was holding giant scissors.
36:16You are holding really big scissors.
36:17We have a ribbon.
36:19All right.
36:20Today, we get to celebrate the start of a new chapter.
36:23What waits beyond this door is way more than walls and windows.
36:28It's stability and a new start.
36:30This home was built with love and partnership.
36:33And it wouldn't be possible without amazing people like Dave and Jenny coming together
36:38with the community, sponsors, volunteers.
36:41They all believe in the same thing.
36:43That everybody deserves a decent place to live.
36:46Congratulations, Amber.
36:50Do I cut first?
36:51Okay.
36:52I think you have to cut before we go in, right?
36:54Yeah.
36:55Hold it tight, guys.
36:56All right.
36:57Ready?
36:58Woo!
36:59Yay!
37:00Okay.
